Every time I come to NY this is a must.
Food was extremely good. I didn't order anything particularly "fancy", I had roasted salmon with sauteed broccoli and an appetizer with stracchino cheese and roasted peppers, my wife had a pasta: everything was so tasteful and very well prepared. The ambiance was really enjoyable: it was a quite night to begin with, but there was no background noise. Staff was nice and prompt - we told them it was a bit too warm and they immediately adjusted the thermostat.
Food was very good but a huge shoutout to hostesses and wait staff - they were great!!!
We enjoyed the appetizers, the salads and the pasta dishes.
Great food and quick service. Some of the better pasta dishes I’ve had in NYC for a decent price. The backyard is transformed for a space for the winter but I was still so cold sitting out there!
Rose, the bartender, is truly one of the best in the business. Food was excellent.
The food is delicious. We were told one dish had a white wine sauce, which is true but it also had tomato, and we wish they had mentioned that. The portions are ample, everything is so fresh and delicious. The server gave us some samples of a few different red wines so we could pick the ones we really liked. The soundtrack was a bit dated and trendy, wish it was more subtle. Overall an excellent dinner, perfect for a special occasion.
My fiance and I came on a very busy Saturday night with three other friends and, while our party was running 15 minutes behind, it took the restaurant over an hour to seat us after our arrival. I understand it's hard to kick people out once they're there, but waiting that long of a time after your reservation slot is a *bit* excessive. That said, I do like the food - it's consistently solid and well-priced, and the service is very friendly - but would recommend visiting during non-prime time hours or for brunch.
Authentic Italian at a classic neighborhood gem. Will definitely be back.
As always Gersi didn’t disappoint! Food was delicious and service great! It does get quite crowded and noise in the front but the back was spacious and noise level moderate. We had a great time!
Love everything about this charming excellent restaurant. It is a very comfortable environment, the food is so good and the specials are so varied
What a pleasant surprise! We picked Gersi based on reviews only, and that was a good choice indeed. The staff was very attentive, and efficient without being pushy. The food was really good, ranging from a delicious burrata, crisp and flavorful calamari, tasty bronzini and well-composed more traditional pasta dishes. The restaurant was a bit of a tight squeeze, but it was a Saturday evening after all.
We always love going to Gersi but the meal this day was truly delicious!
This is a favorite place of my husband and mine! We usually have Tuesday date night here, but this was a brunch for 7- my family! The food was terrific and I appreciate the variety- I had pasta, my niece had eggs and my nephew had pancakes! And the 2- for -1 drinks at brunch were a nice treat!
Bravo Gersi- the food and the staff are excellent!
A bit cramped; otherwise good food & nice ambiance
We went on a Friday night, made last minute reservations and we're accommodated right away. The place was packed when we first walked in, as to be expected, but to my surprise we were escorted to the back where they had a beautiful seating area in an outside tent. I wanted to try everything on the menu as they had an array of options but we went with the brussel sprouts and bruschetta (both were equally delicious and refreshing) for our appetizers and for our entrees we had the spaghetti limone and the skirt steak (cooked and flavored to perfection). The server was very attentive and even offered up a wine suggestion to my partner for her spaghetti, which she loved. After we discussed dessert, as we usually don't eat dessert where we eat dinner, but the server offered us a tempting dessert menu. After looking it over we decided to go with the chocolate lava cake and the vanilla panna cotta. My partner loved her lava cake, the panna cotta could have used a little more flavor/sweetness but was smooth and creamy. Needless to say overall it was a great experience. The food was delicious and fresh, the service and ambience was on point. We will be back.
Absolutely loved it! Food and service were great! Highly recommend it
This place is absolutely amazing. The appetizers were delicious (we ordered more bread just to dip in the heavenly sauce our mussels came in). The homemade pastas were delicious and perfectly flavored. The service was great and the server really knew the menu. Dessert was the only disappointment. With a meal this amazing to serve a flavorless tiramisu was a miss. Despite this we will be back for sure. What a great addition to the Richmond.
Great holiday meal we enjoyed the food and ambience. Nice people and vibe
Great experience, but we were seated over an hour past our reservation time.
Great local place. Food is terrific and the staff very friendly and courteous.
Our first experience at Gersi. Food and sdervice were outstanding. Cute, cozy, family atmosphere. We'll be back!
Thank you for dining with us! We look forward to seeing you again soon. -- Gersi
Thanksgiving meal.My salmon was OK.My wife had the 3 course special
Soup was good, dessert OK,but the main course disappointed- again not very warm,a bit of a hotchpotch, skin on turkey. The lighting is too low to read menus or see your plate! Last year was better though the food was lukewarm.Sorry guys not next year 5/10 Staff were nice though.100$ not worth it
I went with my spouse and my mother in law for a Thanksgiving dinner, for the first time we decided to do so not to cook all the typical food only for 3 people.
The place is cozy. There was a lovely Italian waiter who was very informative, attentive and kind.
The Thanksgiving menu was very nice. Very good panzanella, nice pumpkin soup, and a huge plate with turkey, stuffing, a bit undercooked Brussel sprouts, and warm (we like it hot!) but good sweet mashed potatoes.
Great pumpkin pie!
The prosecco we had as an aperitif was mediocre, the wine was nice but a bit overpriced for what it was (Rosso di Montalcino, not Brunello!).
On the whole it was was a very nice dinner, wothout being fabulous, but it worked greatl!
Moms birthday celebrating
The food is exceptional- lots of fresh produce, nice presentation and tasty preparation. The food is delicate where it should be, robust where it should be. Delish in any preparation. Kind of too bad, b/c we will not go back. I can certainly recommend the food, but not the space.
The noise level is "screech-worthy".
The site is impossibly crammed. Mind-boggling to hear so many loud adult voices yelling over and across tables to share meals with friends. Kind of like eating in Grand Central Station on the main floor during rush hour with no one moving.
Excellent food. Restaurant layout and excellent food reminiscent of trats in Italy (with more elbow room and less noise). Gerci has excellent food. Too bad.
This small neighborhood gem is not to be missed. The black linguini and the lasagna (all homemade of course) are not to be missed! Cash only so plan ahead.
Thank you for dining with us! We look forward to having you again soon.
Overall the food was very good, however, two cautions. 1) We had a reservation and still waited 20 minutes for our table outside on a very cold night. 2) THIS PLACE IS CASH ONLY. Fortunately we had cash but no where on any forum (Gersi website or OpenTable) does it let you know it is CASH ONLY.
Holy pasta! This is the only place I'm going for Italian noodles from on. The handmade rigatoni with meat sauce was a winner, as was the lamb ragu, as was the spaghetti al limone. The staff was so nice and accommodating, and we will be back ASAP.
Thank you for dining with us! We look forward to having you again soon.
The food was extremely fresh, every thing was worth the wait. The pasta was really tender and the seafood was really tender as well and fresh. I would recommend eating here if you’re looking for a lively atmosphere, it was a little loud and the tables were close together. But other than that it was perfect, from our host that gave us suggestions of food and a menu to look at before we sat down, to our waiters that accommodated us with a table move and constant refills and napkins. Great experience, 4/5.
Loved the atmosphere. Delicious pasta. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Will definitely return.
The picnic style table was uncomfortable but overall it was nice. The service was slightly slow and the food was good.
We always have a great experience at Gersi. We will definitely be back!
Food was great. Service was a little inconsistent--one of four meals came out a good 10 minutes after the others leaving everyone else with cold food when the last meal finally arrived.
Seated at the best table in the house without even asking.
Always a wonderful dining experience at Gersi
Waited outside for thirty minute even with reservation
The good: the food was very good and offered at reasonable prices. Service was efficient for being really busy. Our server seemed to have many tables.
The bad: the restaurant lacks comfort. We were there for prime time on Friday night (we had a reservation). It was extremely crowded and we were seated by the door. A wave of cold air smacked us every 30 seconds or so and I ate in my jacket. The aisle is very narrow and was constantly brushed against/bumped.
Overall I’d recommend but I’d probably try to come on a weeknight or at another time.
Everyone loved it
