Beet salad was very good. They were extremely busy, but our waiter took very good care of us.
The food and atmosphere are wonderful. Service was very slow. It took more than an hour for our food to be served. We had to eat quickly in order to make our 8 p.m. curtain.
Elegant atmosphere, delicious food, excellent service! I especially loved the live pianist, it really made the evening special!
Got there early. Not crowded but the folks started coming in. Ordered our appetizer and the salad. Both came in a timely manner. However our main course was terribly late, 45 mins from placing the main course order to delivery. Only one server, the bartender, on the upper level and he was constantly moving. Food was great. Piano began about 630 and was wonderful.
Beautiful atmosphere (1920s vibe) with good food and super nice staff. A good option if you're looking for a "fancier" option
Always enjoy gershwins, the atmosphere takes you back in time.
Had a great time here. The staff was so friendly, helpful, and efficient. Loved the ambience and the music. Food was also amazing! Unfortunately we didn’t get to try dessert as everyone finished cocktails, appetizers, and entrees, but I’m actually okay with it because the food was so good.
Amazing food and service. Overall a great place to eat with a nice ambience.
Service was a little off tonight. Normally we have an excellent experience.
Underwhelmed. Mussels appetizer tasted like a lemony glass of wine. Sour..not reduced. 12 mussels only. Didn't even want to dip the bread. Took forever to get a Manhatten.. they ran out of vermouth. New bartender by herself, felt bad, she stated that this was her first job in this kind of setting. Lots of other things I wasn't happy with.
Gershwin's never ceases to impress me. Every dining opportunity reveals dutifully crafted plates of pure deliciousness. Hat tip to whomever is the chef. Charles Kirtland, behind the bar, serves up some of the best craft cocktails in Norfolk. It's simply amazing how much he knows about liquors, liqueurs, and cordials.
Small very French bistro-like fine dining. White-tablecloth experience with excellent food, freshly prepared and served by knowledgeable servers. Small but exquisite wine list. We loved it!
Fantastic food, ambiance and service! 11/10 would recommend
Well decorated ambiance.
The staff was great. Atmosphere really nice and they had live music that started at 7. Great way to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The food was excellent!
Great food. Great drinks. Great atmosphere. Accommodating for vegans. Will definitely return.
The ambiance was classy. The live music - great. My party went to celebrate a birthday. The birthday lady was very pleased. All of our food and drinks were very delicious! The waitress was attentive. I would definitely visit this place again when i am in town.
The ambiance and a live singer were great. The mock tails were great but the food was not good. The service wasn’t either
Amazing atmosphere. Food and drinks were on point. Attentive fast service.
Made reservations for my son’s 21st birthday. When we arrived, there was no one in sight. Literally no staff or diners. After waiting for about 3-5 minutes, a staff member came to the front.
There were three other tables with customers while we dined. The waiter appeared to not want to be there, provided slow service, and was aloof. The food was okay, not great. I’m not sure how the chef would consider Impossible breakfast sausage as a substitute for Impossible Italian sausage in the one vegan entree.
I had made a note when placing my reservation that it was my son’s birthday, and asked if there was any special dessert available, or maybe we could have a candle placed in a dessert item. My family hates having attention drawn to us, but I was hopeful for just a little recognition. There was none. Even telling the waiter what the occasion was when we were seated and again when a drink was bought for my son did not prompt a “Happy Birthday.”
Not planning to return.
Fair food. Recommend avoiding getting seated upstairs. Few tables and can’t see anything. Service takes a hit up there too since there’s only a few tables. Upstairs would be a great spot for standing (there is an unused second bar up there) since you would be able to see the whole place. Downstairs: great!
I cannot say enough amazing things about Gershwin's. Will helped us during our evening, he was friendly, warm, made wonderful recommendations and even told us he already had oyr next trip planned. I truly cannot wait to go back!!
I loved the atmosphere. Frank Sinatra playing in the background and 1920's décor. It was fun looking over the drink menu and reminiscing about alcoholic beverages our parents used to drink. We had the fried shrimp appetizer. The breading was light and crispy. I had the linguine and the cream sauce was divine! Could have used a little more vegetables. My companion had the chicken parmesan and finished every bite! We were celebrating my companion's birthday and she was given a free glass of champagne!
Place was hot and humid. Lacked ambiance
The environment was wonderful. Music was a little late but not the fault of the restaurant. Clean restrooms, nice staff, FANTASTIC drink menu. Solid food selection and taste. Prices were to be expected with the amenities. $$$
Great place to take a date. Mature atmosphere with live piano music. Will return again
