George's Ocean Terrace Ratings and Reviews
Excellent food and service, we heard this places was a must and we definitely enjoyed and was right on. Server was very attentive and great menu recommendations. Food was excellent, the soup is one of the best i ever had, also had their skirt steak which was also awesome and my wife had the tompo which was superb. The roofbar is great for views but you might need a jacket on a chilly night, overall 5 stars
Maybe a bad day. Caesar salad very limp and "tired" with stale croutons. But the grilled salmon added to it was excellent. Probably the worst Caesar I ever had. NO CRUNCH at all in the lettuce. The Caesar Salad at Water's Catering on Girard is a good role model George's could learn from: ALWAYS very cold, very crisp, very fresh tasting and the croutons are spot on.
Two friends ordered iced tea and got "tea" almost the color of water--so weak they couldn't taste the tea. Told the waitress. She seemed perplexed and defensive about it. Very disappointing. She brought more tea but it was also so watered down my friends couldn't taste the "tea" in it.
We have dined here for 30 years but Wednesday was overall total disappointment in food. Service was good. But we kind of hoped for a yummy meal, including "tea."
Was here with girlfriends, & we loved their fresh seafood selections as well as the lighter fare and their burgers. The view was great even though we had the most back corner table. Our server was kind, but even though it wasn't busy (2:15 midweek), he wasn't very attentive. We would have had another round of drinks before completing our meals, had he come back to ask. Instead, our food was gone and we were done and ready to go before he came back. At that point it was "check please". But we'd go back for sure!
I have never ha this bad of service in all my years in eating at restaurants. My husband and I are very laid back people and understand that people have bad days are in the situations they are in. We always tip well and very polite to people trying to make a living. This is how our experience started out... we sat down and it was at least 10 minutes when another waiter asks us if our waiter has been over and we said No. so he politely took our drinkorder and even brought our drinks to us. So we waited at least another 10 mintues for our waiter to come over and he literally said "what do you guys want to eat?" He never introduced himself or asked how our night was(which isn't a huge deal but everything kept adding up). So then another waiter brought us our food and maybe 5 minutes eating out food our waiter brought us our check and just dropped it off at our table. So then on his way back from another table he was serving attempted to pick up the check book and my husband said hey man I didn't put my card in because we are still eating. Then he dropped the check book and walked away. He never asked if we liked the food(which we didn't). And then finally my husband had to wave him down to take the check book after we
Done eating. Honestly have never had this experience and this place came highly recommend. But I would never go back
Very disappointed! Food and service overall was not good. Felt it is very over priced for what you get. Example - hummus appetizer they only give you 4 tiny pieces of pita? They charge you extra for more pita. How do you eat hummus if you don't have pita? Yellowfin Tuna special was over cooked and chewy. Ordered buttered pasta for kids at $12/ plate n they put cheese after I said JUST BUTTER! Caesar salad was poor and Lettuce wilted.
Beautiful view, but it smells so bad with seals and birds is another turn off while you try to eat. We are locals and will not be returning!
They asked if this was a specail occassion. I told them it was a double Birthday. Waiter did nothing and when I inquired when leaving, he told me it was restarant policy not to do anythig complimentary. I guess their prices are not high enough. Done and gone
We went in there for my wife's birthday and even though we are 30 minutes early for our reservation we were accommodated and seated at the waterfront. The view of the beach/ocean was awesome. The food was delightful. I ordered the blackened fish sandwich and my wife took the camite (sp?). Both were scrumptious. The host were attentive and helpful and the servers were outstanding. I would recommend this place for any special occasion; i.e., birthday, dates or just for dining experience 100%. I would definitely return again..
The view is fantastic. Both food and service were wonderful as well. Our server Robert was very knowledgeable and attentive. Although the restaurant was crowded, at no point in time did we feel rushed and we appreciated that. We had the roasted beet salad and fish tacos as appetizers. Both were delicious. Followed by skirt steak and the yellow tail special and they were very tasty as well. Of course at a place like this, you pay slightly more because of the view but it was not excessive and well worth the money.
We return to George's whenever we travel to CA because the experience is always delicious, delightful, and the service is the best! The Terrace on the top provides them with undeniably spectacular views , so the ambiance is breathtaking. On special occasions, they offer us 'on the house' treats, which only adds to our warm feelings toward George's. We've told traveling friends to stop by George's, and to a person, they've been totally pleased with their experiences. Thank you, George's staff, chefs, and bartenders for a five star experience every time!
Do not waste your time and money; better views, food, and treatment elsewhere.
Arrived early for our reservation, requested ocean view table, but were told it would be a 30 minute wait, so we accepted second row seating. Received a unpleasantly stern warning that we would not be re-seated if an ocean view table came available -- not a good start for a celebration lunch. And yes, a table came open right in front of us about five minutes after being seated. Very noisy tables all around us, but we tried to overlook that for the fact that we could still see the water and it was a beautiful day... which it was until the waiter dropped a tomato slice in aioli-wasabi sauce on the back of my shirt, which slid down leaving a huge mess and stains. We have the promise that the management will pay the dry cleaning, but an open-ended question if the garment is ruined.
Food: dry, unremarkable hamburger and fries; my partner liked his fish well enough, but not worth the price. The wine was good though. We did not stay for dessert as we already felt unwelcome at George's. They were probably happy to see us leave as my shirt was a billboard for their ineptitude.
And to top it all off: George's had the nerve to report to OpenTable that we were a no-show for our reservation! OpenTable quickly dismissed the issue... I'd say there is a management and staff issue going on at George's.
Spectacular view, outstanding food, great service. I'm not a big fan of chicken sandwiches - most are just bleh, but I gave their Chimrita chicken sandwich a try on the waiter's recommendation. It was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had - great combo of flavors + the absolute perfect golden crispiness of the chicken - yum. Fish tacos simply outstanding. When one of our guests dropped her fork, another appeared before she even straightened back up from retrieving it. Great spot to impress out-of-town visitors or to make yourself feel you're on a lunchtime vacation.
