George's Greek Cafe is a favorite place in Long Beach for authentic Greek food that is both flavorful as well as made with top-quality, local produce. For a truly tantalizing starter, enjoy one of George’s dips, served with pita bread or sliced cucumbers, such as the spicy feta with Greek yogurt, the traditional hummus and the lemony mashed potato scordalia. Fully customizable salads and luscious homemade soups are other great starters, or they can make a wonderful lunch combo. Specialty house entrées include the spinach and feta stuffed salmon, the falafel bean burger with onions and tomato and the spiced ground beef and eggplant moussaka in a creamy sauce. No matter your selection, you can taste the Mediterranean passion in every dish at George’s Greek Cafe.
George’s Greek Cafe also hosts nightly happy hour from 3-7, with fantastic deals on both drinks and food.
What a wonderful restaurant. Sorry I haven't been here before. The food and service were both very good.
This is a fun place with excellent fresh food. The street scene is a fun plus
Nice server and not a very professional hostess. Food is a nice change to the regular dinner.
Extremely fast service! Food was delicious and met all of our different dietary needs-meat eaters, vegans, and vegetarian. Falafels were so moist and tasty. Hummus, dolmas, tzatziki, and pita were all perfect! Pastitsio was creamy and they gyros were very good!
My GPS took me to a nice parking structure on the street behind the restaurant. Walked in from the back of the patio, and never found the front entrance or reservation desk (oops!), but was seated and had a nice lunch.
Not available via OpenTable!
Great place... only one (big) problem: George's has not accepted OpenTable reservations since early 2017. When I got to the desk on Monday June 26, 2017 with my group of 4 for a business dinner at 7:00pm, the Maitresse 'D informed me the restaurant was completely booked, for the entire night, and I did not in fact have a reservation of any kind.
This, in spite of the confirming reservation via OpenTable the day before. She explained they (now) only accept reservations via Yelp. While this was extremely annoying, I went back with another group the following night after making a reservation in person.
Terrific food, great atmosphere and a solid value, but not available via OpenTable. OpenTable is really fouled up here. OpenTable DOES NOT have the ability to commit reservations for George's, even though both the OpenTable website and app says they do.
I made a reservation through Open table for 6 people and when we got there the hostess told us they don't use Open Table anymore. They were able to seat us and we had a great meal but this should be resolved for future reservations
Amazing food, great drinks, and excellent service!
I've never had gyro falafel. It was delicious!
We ordered the family style Greek dinner and it was delicious. Large portions, plenty to go around. The service was superb, too. The baklava was the best I've tried. They make it in house.
Fantastic experience, food was great as always, we just had a great night..
George's was a good meeting place for my friend from Orange County and me from West LA--food was very nice, service good and a nice change from other American fare.
Great service and great food.
Recently held a business lunch there -- we were seated right away, service was friendly and fast, and the food came out quickly as well. I enjoyed it, and would return if I was in the area.
Pleasant dinner with girlfriend - meze style starter followed by lamb gyros. Cocktails were excellent as were the lamb chops which we added to the starter. Service was also very good despite the restaurant being very busy. The only negative was that they had music in the bar and different music in the restaurant at equal volume - having a different tune in each ear is really irritating.
What a wonderful restaurant! The service was perfect: our server, Erin, never rushed us, made some great suggestions about what to order, and was just delightful. The food was yummy. The Mediterranean salad was very fresh, with kale, shaved brussel sprouts, feta and more. Everyone raved about the lamb chops, which can be ordered as an appetizer, main dish or added to a salad. Don't miss the hummus appetizer with warm pita bread. We dined on a Saturday and the $5 bloody marys were incredible. Highly recommend and we'll be back.
Hospitality so genuine!
The sampler was great., cuz it was our first time there.
The food is great. The place looks great and love George at the front door.
The food was average. The chicken on the salad was almost inedible. The salads were otherwise the highlight of the meal. The filet mignon was good except for one piece which was full of gristle. The lamb chops were decent not great...and the chicken sandwich was mediocre. A glass of water spilled as we were trying to make room for an appetizer. The server bringing the appetizer, who was not our primary server, was rushed and couldn't be bothered to help us clean up the mess. She had to move on...
You guys are the best….The most authentic Greek food anywhere in Southern California
Food was great and there was plenty of it! Customer service was excellent. Would most definitely go back
Everything was outstanding. We had their hummus, calamari for apps which were amazing. I then had the 6 Lamb chops for dinner which I would recommend over the 4 if you are very hungry. Of all the places i ate over this past weekend this one was my favorite. Do yourself a service and check it out
George's Greek Cafe is the best place. I love the atmosphere and the outside dinning is very romantic.
George's is always good for a group dinner. We went on a weekday so it was not too crowded or loud. We had a group of 10, so we ordered family style and the food was amazing as usual. They even accommodated our request for an alternative menu item. Our only complaint would be there were not enough lamb chops!
RIght on the busy Pine Street we had a front row view to people-watch, but the food was the highlight - delicious fresh stuffed salmon over a Greek salad a perfect warm night dish. The flaming cheese gave a little flare to the evening. Treat yourself and enjoy the fresh and tasty food.
Fun atomosphere with solid Greek food with super gyros
Great lamb chops, great saganaki, great outdoor dining, great service - party of doc even warranted special waitress invented desert - baklava milkshake! Oh my ...!
Food is consistently so yummy at George's!! Brought some friends who were visiting from out of town and they loved it too! Thanks for the yummy lunch!
George is an actual old Greek guy who still meets his guests at the front door! The lamb is perfection
We drive down here from Los Angeles regularly for Greek food, and have not found a better place in the LA area!!
George's has been a staple in my diet for many years. My favorite dish being their stuffed salmon with their traditional Greek Salad. The salad dressing is so addictive and I am so thankful I can buy a bottle to have on hand. Their savory Gyro meat is unlike any other along with their homemade tzaziki sauce.
However, I would make a recommendation on adding pizazz to the kale salad. Since there are raisins on it, there needs to be a theme of some more sweetness. I've gotten this salad to go and added beets, tomatoes, and avocados, even cucumbers and it is a thousand times better. The beets and avocado are the perfect compliment to the pumpkin seeds and raisins.
A little change will liven the menu up and enhance the flavor of the salad.
Lively and friendly service every time. The food is fresh and flavorful. Lamb chops can't be compared to any others. So we'll seasoned and expertly cooked... Oh my!!! Kalamata spread is a must have too. We will be back!!
went twice in one week while at a conference - congenial, accessible place for lunch and dinner - friendly helpful service and good, fresh food. loved the flaming cheese.
We love Greek food and wanted to try something new. George's received high ratings on Yelp so we decided to give it a try. I love the outside seating are and with the window and doors open, you can sit inside and feel like it is outside.
The food was just okay. I was expecting more based on the ratings. although my wife's shrimp dish had more flavor than my Chicken dish, I was hoping for more of a flavor profile as I've had before at other restaurants and in Greece itself.
This was the first time I had ever set foot in the restaurant and it was absolutely delightful, food was good, service was great, and the ambiance of the place was just perfect.
our server served us the incorrect order during a business lunch. Only 4 people in the party so it was not too difficult an order... food was good
Very good Lamb dishes at this Greek restaurant on bustling Pine Ave Restaurant row. Attentive service and convenient parking across the street.
We were met so warmly at the door by George himself and ushered to a lovely outside dining area. We ordered lamb/beef gyros with Greek salad and were blown away bythe fabulous seasonings and large portions. It was such a nice eating experience (and very affordable) that we chose to eat here again during our week in Long Beach for a conference.. If we lived nearby, this would definitely be on our list of places to go back to regularly. Brought back great memories of having traveled in Greece. Efcharisto George!
Outside patio very relaxing.
Food is outstanding.
