All the staff were wonderful! Truly a great dining experience
George's no longer takes reservations thru Open Table
Delicious food at a very reasonable price. Authentic Greek food and good-sized portions.
When I arrived, they said they do not use OpenTable anymore. They were able to accommodate me anyway. Why are they still advertising on your app if they are not honoring your reservations?
Not bad for a place to stop before flying out of Long Beach Airport but the food was just okay.
We had an amazing dining experience. From the very warm greeting and exit from the wonderful hostess. She is always so warm, accommodating and is an excellent reminder of the incredible personnel employed at this establishment. It is always the highlight of our dining experience to stop by this amazing restaurant and partake of some outstanding Greek cuisine. Our waiter was wonderful. The menu selection is filled with tasty Greek specialties. The amazing Greek salad is made to perfection. Lamb Chops are seasoned and care is obviously taken to ensure the dining experience is memorable. The food is par excellence, but it's the wonderful personnel that transcends the norm and is top notch class. Every employee made us feel welcome. For example, water was filled timely, dishes removed seamlessly. We look forward to many more occasions and future dining opportunities at this fine establishment.
very good portions, delicious and amazing food!!!!!
I order a bottle of wine $ 26 and when I went to pay appeared on the bill $ 44 when I told the waitress told me I had specifically ordered a 44 ,she probably confused me with someone else ,she would not listen to reason or offer a discount, I dint fell like to argue in front of my girlfriend so I paid after she told me several times that I was wrong.
It is always the highlight of our dining experience to stop by this incredible restaurant and partake of some outstanding Greek cuisine. On this occasion, we were greeted warmly by Amy. She is always so warm, accommodating and is an excellent reminder of the incredible personnel employed at this establishment. Next is Stephanie, our waitperson, whose knowledge of menu items and her 'spot on' suggestions were the best. The menu selection is filled with amazing Greek specialties. The amazing Greek salad is made to perfection. Lamb Chops are seasoned and care is obviously taken to ensure the dining experience is memorable. The food is par excellence, but it's the service by Stephanie that transcends the norm and is top notch class. Every employee made us feel welcome. We had a craving for gyro's and immediately thought of George's Greek for that. They have the appetizer version, gyro sandwich (in a pita of course) with rice or salad as a side, or a side order of gyro meat (beef, chicken or lamb) Lamb is my favorite.
We were warmly greeted by the manager Torri as we settled in. Believe it or not this was the third time we had dined at George's over the past two weeks. I had already written two other reviews, but found ourselves going through gyros, saganaki, dolmades and galaktobouriko withdrawal, so here we were again.
This time our server was Ashli who took great care of us, just like Kevinopoulos the previous two times. We purposely came on a Friday to try their Kleftico which was slow roasted tender and juicy lamb shoulder. It came with delectable roasted potatoes and Greek salad. We also tried their moussaka, one of my favorite dishes composed of eggplant, ground beef with an incredibly light and tasty bechamel sauce.
Ashli and the entire staff were attentive throughout the dinner, making sure everything was delicious, which it was.
We're headed back to Chicago next week, which had one of the earliest Greektowns, and introduced me to this marvelous cuisine as I was growing up. However, we will pass on Greek food this trip because our favorite is now located in Lakewood at George's.
Had a great time and awesome meal!! The service was terrific! This was our first time at this location and we loved it!
This place is in a class of its own. I took my wife and daughter's to George's Greek Cafe to celebrate my daughters birthday on 05/23. Me and my 16 year old daughter had an idea of what to expect regarding Greek food. However, my 22 year old and my wife didn't know what to expect and therefore had their defences up.
I order the Family style dinner which offered about eight different Greek food items to experience. I wanted the full Greek experience for my girls. We really enjoyed the dinner everything was very good, my wife and 22 year old daughter cannot stop talking about how good the food was.
George's Greek Cafe will be seeing my family again and again. Great job guys!!!!
My most recent visit was to have a birthday party with 10 people. It went great with great service and food. I have been to this location a number of times before, even for their Sunday brunch. This location is good for kids and groups, and has a nice bar area with cool seating. If you want romance though, head to their downtown Long Beach location on Pine. Either way, you can't go wrong with Georges Greek. I also go the 2nd St location.
The food is amazing the service was great. We always love going to George's!
Georges Greek Cafe was great as always! The food was wonderful and the ambiance was great. I was there for a luncheon with 4 old friends that get together once a year. If the noise level was high it was probably because of us. We were there for 2.5 hours and the service was great.
CC our server was awesome sauce. the food was amazing and so was the ENDLESS MIMOSAS!
Georges has the best lamb chops around. Somehow I never seem to get by them. My wife had the moussaka and said it was delicious. We go to Georges frequently, although the last few times we went to the Huntington Beach site, but it has now closed.
Enjoy the Greek food here. One of the few and great Greek restaurants in Southern California. The Sunday Brunch Buffet is GREAT. Lots of food. Fill you up. Servers and managers are always friendly.
If you like Greek for you will love dining at Georgie's Greek. The lamb chops are perfectly seasoned and not over cooked. Try the Kalamata olive spread. Fantastic.
We had such a great lunch meeting at George's! The people are so nice and explained everything about the menu. Made us a special appetizer platter, half veg half regular. Wow, the village salad was amazing especially when adding the shrimp kabob. We also tried their famous lamb chops, chicken kabob. We can't wait to come back. What a great neighborhood find!
This is not the first time my husband and I ate here and it won't be the last!
The food is Always great, the portion sizes are perfect and prices are reasonable.
We love to sit in the out door patio, it's nice and quiet, has plenty of heat to go around
due to the outdoor heaters. The staff is extremely attentive and friendly.
It took us less that 10 mins to be served after our order was placed!
The Lakewood is the third George's location. Food is excellent at all but perfer this one becuase parking is SO much easier. This location is the only one to have a really nice Sunday Brunch too!
George's is consistently the best Greek food in the greater Long Beach area. The service is always pleasant, the food is well-prepared, and while the wine list is very basic, it compliments the food. The noise level inside can tend toward the ear drum shattering, and it is nearly always quite cold inside, so we tend to prefer the patio that is nicely heated as necessary. Overall a favorite.
Great food, fresh taste always hot and wonderful desserts as well. Very good hot fresh coffee.
As always George's delivers on quality food and service.
If you're looking for a local Sunday brunch that is fresh, delicious and reasonably priced, I highly recommend George's Greek Cafe in Lakewood, Ca on Candlewood. This little gem offers Sunday brunch each week and combines standard breakfast fare like scrambled eggs and bacon with Greek standards like salad, Pasticio (the best!) and gyros. A popular eatery for special occasions, the staff are plentiful and seating is comfortable and convenient to the inviting food display. George's is listed on Open Table for easy reservations.
Husband had the lamb special and I got a taste, very good. I always get the lamb chops. Love them, but next time I'll order as appetizer as I don't care for the style of rice that comes with it.
We had a great time the waitress was excellent and very friendly. It made the dining special
We will go back soon
Our waiter was extremely helpful and we all had plenty to eat. The lamb is the way to go above all the other meats.
The food was nothing to write about. Food was plentiful, but somewhat disappointing. I wouldn't go back even if I was in the area and hungry.
Very good venue--great service.
This was my second time here and both experiences were very good. The service is excellent and the food is very fresh and delicious.
The food was excellent! Loved the lamb chops!
I'm a 3rd generation Greek......the food tastes just like Grandma (YiYi) made
brunch buffet was well laid out for minimal waiting to reach your food.
service was extremely attentive.
they kept those mimosas flowing!
i could live on hummus & pita.
we were on the way to Long Beach airport from Los Angeles and needed a convenient place for a quick dinner. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the experience. They even had the cookies my grandmother used to make for me as a kid - overall, the perfect experience.
We may even drive down again just for the food.
The best restaurant in Lakewood. Service is great and people are friendly. Get a bottle of the Cava!
We loved the food and the service was great! Our table was right by the door to the outside dining which was unfortunate - every time the door opened, a blast of cold wind was felt. Next time I'll get a different table!
This is my second visit here, but far from my last. This place has great food and a welcoming fun atmosphere. Friday, they have a slow roasted lamb. It's great when you have plans, because it's ready to serve as soon as you're ready and is crazy delicious.
