The food was very good, but the atmosphere is not ideal for dining. Too noisy. We made a reservation post-happy hour, but there was a large crowd at the bar. And the layout is, with tables horseshoed around the bar, is not conducive for conversation.

Yes, we will try it again. Service was slow. It was a group of 6 so not sure if that was the issue. I have a reservation for a lunch in Dec. Hoping it will be a better experience.

Our first visit. The food and service were good. However, the table was cramped and the noise level made it difficult to carry on a conversation. Even the waiter had trouble hearing us. It was also overpriced.

Excellent steaks, if that's what you crave. We went there for the ribs that were recommended on Yelp. According to our waiter, they have never served ribs. 🙄 My daughter was disappointed in the sliders. She said they were tasteless. She loved the mac-n-cheese. The live music was perfect for the 65+ crowd.

I truly enjoyed my experience at George's Chophouse and look forward to returning in the future. The ambiance is incredible as well as the service. Our server was very attentive and gave good advice about the menu. Initially I wasn't happy with my beverage but they fixed it and it was delicious. The food was delicious!!! The Crab Cocktail is to DIE FOR!!! Even treated us to complementary champagne and a candle to acknowledge my birthday. Very satisfied and definitely recommending to friends for a classy dining experience.

Crab chowder was just salty and thin with no actual flavor profile. Salmon was only cooked to medium (probably should've asked if I was ok with that) and therefore I was not going to eat that. There is a note on menu that they respectfully refuse to giarantee steak beyond medium but my husband's steak was still well under medium. Only terrible beer (budweiser) on draft and the margarita was too sour. Very bad experience. Manager comped our meal and gave us a gift card to return, but I assure you we won't be. Its not about money; it's about the experience and stopping at McDonald's because you are still hungry is just the telltale sign of a bad dinner out.

This was our first time visiting George's Chophouse, despite some negative reviews. Well, this will be our last time, I guess. The interior is nice, and we loved the pillows that are in the booths so that you get lumbar support and not feel like you're eating a mile away from the table. Nice touch. The overall decor was pleasant, and the background jazz music created a very mellow ambiance. Our waiter was great. He was attentive without over doing it. He came quickly, and brought our drinks almost immediately. My bourbon on the rocks drink had a nice generous pour. The waiter stayed attentive throughout the meal. Our food, unfortunately, left a lot to be desired. We ordered for appetizers mapled bacon as one appetizer and a blooming mushroom as another. The bacon was undercooked and frankly a turn-off. The blooming mushroom was pretty much tasteless and underwhelming. We left a good bit of it untouched. For the meals I had a NY strip, and the other two meals were steak frites with Brussel sprouts and a fried chicken sandwich with fries. The strip was underwhelming. They cut it up into strips in the kitchen (which I hate). The quality of the meat and its taste were no better than TGIFs. Same goes for the steak frites. The brussel sprouts were good, though. The fried chicken sandwich was undercooked and had to be sent back to the kitchen. It took a long time for the replacement meal to come. The waiter was very apologetic and the manager came by to apologize and give us a $50 gift certificate for another meal. That was very nice and much appreciated, but unfortunately it doesn't make up for the poor meal quality and the disproportionately high prices. As it is, the food is way overpriced, unless they bring in a new chef to up their game a little (a lot). Until that happens, we won't be going back.

Atmosphere and ambience were good on entering. Our Server, Kristiana was lovely and trying very hard to keep things going but she was overwhelmed and seemed like she has a lot on her plate. She coped very well and always had a smile on her face. I felt sorry that she was being made to try and deal with everything going on by herself with very little support. We waited for everything, food, wine, drinks, apart from our entree which came to the table before we had even time to finish our appetisers. It was a little like a comedy.
We made the mistake of not ordering our sauce with our steaks when we placed our order and had to wait for, what seemed like forever.
I would love to return as I really like the ambiance but don’t want to spend another $200 for substandard service and to have my entree delivered while I’m still eating my appetiser.
Kristiana is an absolute star and you should feel very lucky to have her

The meal starting out strong, cool vibe and loved the banquet. But the service fell off, never got the wine we ordered, took way long to get the bill and it is super loud in there. Also thought it was expensive for just a casual dinner out.

Wonderful experience. Lump crab salad was delicious, beet salad was a must order and the ribeye and loaded baked potato was was of the best I have had. It was enough for two to share and still have some left.

Price is exceptional for the five star quality of the food.

If you're going for the slabs of meat, you won't be disappointed, and the music combo on Saturday evening was a nice touch. Everything else was odd. The service was awkward; for instance, there were bread plates on the table when we arrived, but neither the menu nor the waiter mentioned that you have to ask for bread in order to be served any. The food had some weird qualities; for example, the bread that we finally got (after asking) tasted like smoked fish (blech)--my daughter and I agreed that it had probably been heated on a grill that had previously held a fish. The wine menu lists 3 prices on many lines, without explanation; when we asked for a carafe, which we figured the middle price was for, we were simply told that "we only sell wine in glasses or bottles." Someone else had to come around to explain that the middle price was for a 9-ounce pour. There were other strange moments that made it a night not to be repeated.

As they say, George had me at 'hello' when he opened doors but with more than half-dozen visits in the last year - greatness seems to have vanished. While his chops are some of the best in the region - meat alone does not cut it. Service levels have dropped greatly. The $16 cocktails had me thinking I was paying for specialty ice (really George, have one of your bartenders make you a drink and then remove the ice and ask yourself if the 2.5 ounces is worth the price tag?).

Chophouses in America always offer nice American Cabernets to accompany the meat but at George's - you get one shot and it is "George's Blend" which no one seemed to know what was in it.

Finally, while I know many happy hours are tied to sitting at the bar to enjoy 50% off - it seemed unfair for us to get up from our booth and sit at the bar that had no one sitting around it at 6:15 pm) to enjoy savings of $32 off drinks plus apps. Worst yet, when we inquired - the response was, "sorry - that is policy." Seems another Bethesda restaurant is edging towards the cliff - really a shame with some elements so spot on.

We had dinner there on September 7 . The sliders appetizer was one of the best we have ever had; the tuna tartare with avocado appetizer was excellent. The strip steak was excellent and served already sliced with virtually no waste. The creamed spinach side was much better that served at Ruth's Chris; that is, the spinach was allowed to dominate instead of the cream. The double pork chop was nicely prepared. We also enjoyed the fries. The crème brulee topped with fruit was quite nice. Our server was responsive, informative and appropriately interactive. Basically, all of the food was great.

The booths are very comfortable and conversation was easy.

The only weakness of this restaurant was a wine list with very limited choices.

We ordered 3 ribeye steaks cooked medium rare and a lobster tail for our entrees. The ribeye was not marbled with fat as expected. This in turn made the steak rather tough and the seasoning was off. It just was not what I am accustomed to when dining at a nice steak house. The lobster tail meat was mushy. I would not order it again. The service and drinks were great. I will probably stick to happy hour here.

When you first enter you think its a normal drinking bar but once you actually enter you get greeted by a nice host who isn't judgemental at all. You get seated at these large round beautiful comfy tables and you don't have to wait long when your server appears with glasses of water and asking what you will have. The prices are decent for the amount of food that comes on the plate. Be prepared to take an empty stomach and a huge wallet if you plan on coming here. Honestly this place was great, the food was amazing and the staff was really nice. The bathrooms were a bit dirty but not to an extent where you couldn't use them. This place is very unique and honestly I plan on coming here again with my family

Amazing food and our steaks were cooked to perfection (black and blue, just the way my family likes it). My parents are pretty discerning eaters and raved that it was the best steak they've had in ages! The only thing that needed a little improvement would have been the service at the beginning. The restaurant was pretty empty (a Wednesday evening) short of some happy hour customers at the bar, but it took about 30 minutes for our drink orders to arrive (two cocktails and one mocktail). And by the time I ordered a soda, it took a little longer and my father ended up going directly to the bar to order. Our server more than made up for that however with his pleasant personality and willingness to make sure we were ultimately happy and fed :) Thanks for a great experience. We will definitely be back!

10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a nice meal! Got the tomahawk it was to die for! Oysters as an appetizer were super fresh also make sure to try the thick cut bacon (mouth watering and as delicious as it sounds) and the bloomin mushroom! Chocolate cake for dessert to finish off a perfect night!! Chef Al definitely knocked it out of the park with this restaurant, just as exquisite as Duck Duck Goose!
