I take my mom & godmother there for Mother's Day brunch every year for the past four plus years now and we love it there. Ambience, service & food/drinks are top notch. Though I have not yet, I look forward to trying their dinner menu...if anything like brunch, I can't imagine not loving it.
For most restaurants, Mother's Day brunch is a general sh*tshow, but not here. They managed their reservations well, and the food was great too (as was the bottomless mimosas and bloody marys). The young woman playing the piano provided perfect background music, and my mother had a great brunch.
The staff was so nice and friendly, especially to our 3-year old son. They brought out a balloon for him and he had a fantastic time, which means we had an even better time.
George’s never disappoints. Jeta is amazing and always helps me find the best drinks!
Loved it. Went on a very quiet Sunday night, no one else was seated in the dining room. Great atmosphere and drinks.
Very kind of people..!!! Live show was wonderful...
The food and service were great. Nice cozy atmosphere. Loved the live music!
George’s food and ambience are good & its been a treat to dine there in the past. Last night the low ceilinged, hard surfaced dining room had live jazz. The music was fine but too harsh and loud for the room & for dining. If you came for music & sat at the bar it might have been a good experience. If you wished to talk: good luck. How loud was the music? My ears still hurt.
Great music and great setting. Food was great, can add more specialties.
The live music was outstanding and the mimosas at brunch were bottomless.
Food was great service was slow by the time we got our second glasses of wine we finished our meal
This is our favorite spot in Astoria. The food, the service, and the live music makes for a one of a kind dinner out
Chopped steak was terrible by wife’s chicken dish was delish...... everything else was great, next time I’ll get a burger.
Lovely place good food somewhat overpriced. The piano playing was too loud for comfortable conversation. The piano was playing was much more pleasurable last time we ate here.
Food took 90 minutes to arrive. Wait staff was inattentive; food was not notable except that portions were not worth the price.
The food is very good. The restaurant is entertaining. The services is kind of slow.
What a gem! Spectacular piece of Old New York with superb ambience. I think it’s haunted and that’s a good thing.
Food, service, music was fantastic! We have been there several times and have enjoyed each and every time we go!
My husband, daughter and myself ate at George’s on Thursday evening. I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant!!! The ambiance was so warm and comfortable while the music was so relaxing!!
The blue point oysters were so very fresh as well as the salmon!! The martini was delicious and to top off the meal the the ice cream sundae was was as retro and delicious as the good ole days!!! The service was outstanding!! Making sure our every want was met!!
We absolutely can’t wait to go back!!!!!
As usual a great night in a terrific venue. Great food, great music and terrific drinks. I highly recommend George’s.
Good was fare. At best
Stellar experience! Every aspect of this place is amazing! My boyfriend and I enjoyed ourselves immensely on Valentine’s Day. Had a delicious 3-course meal, with perfect lamb special entree. We have since told all our friends about it and will definitely be back!
Superb food with outstanding pricing.
Great atmosphere within this unique venue.
Highly recommend. John (GM) is key to get to know. We will be back sooner than later.
We enjoyed the time there. The waiter was friendly and accommodating The food was very good We were surprised to see very young children in the restaurant although they were well behaved
Wonderful service by Remi
Food was delicious
Jazz Band was just fabulous!
I’ll go back weekly with more friends and family
Great food. Great service. Great place. You got to try it out for yourself.
Fantastic experience. Best ambiance of any restaurant I’ve been to in NYC.
As usual a great night out. Terrific food, great bar and good music. I highly recommend George’s
We really enjoyed our dinner here after a Murphy Brown taping. Owner (manager) was friendly and so kind. Music was great. Food was reasonable and good. Fun atmosphere!
Wonderful place....Great staff... Good food... Great Band
Simply a great experience. Good food, great service and terrific atmosphere
Went for Sun Jazz Brunch. The singer was very talented, but played slow (borderline depressing) singer/songwriter covers and maybe originals? Regardless, it was not the standards I expected, which also would have played to the vintage theme of the room better. The food was decent and plated nicely. For $35 including bottomless bloodies and mimosas I can’t really complain. They weren’t busy, but it did take a while to get a 2nd cup of coffee.
TLDR: If you’re in the area and you want a reasonable priced boozy brunch where you can get a big table without a wait George’s is perfect
Had a great birthday dinner here !! Staff was amazing - waiter / bartender - everyone very welcoming. Love the live music - food was good too !!
There was no wait staff. The bartender was also the waiter for the entire bar/restaurant
Love it have been here before and will defiantly be back Fozzi made our night !!
A great place! A great place for food, music and drinks
Went for Sunday jazz brunch and not a soul was there at 12:30pm. I figured we were early. Nope, we were literally the only people there until 2pm! And by then only 4 more people arrived. We had a solo singer with piano as entertainment and her voice was lovely, but she didn’t play any jazz? She played her renditions of pop songs (which were great) but if you’re looking for live jazz music-none to be found. Food was good (had the fried chicken n waffles) and service was great. Nice that mimosas and bloodys were unlimited. The restaurant is beautiful, but it would be a much better experience with more patrons!
We went here for our first anniversary dinner. We loved the live jazz! It made for a unique and special atmosphere for our evening. The food was good, but perhaps a little dry. We plan to go back for more evenings of wine and jazz.
Lovely ambiance and great service. Very attentive. Lots of delicious food and drinks for a good price.
