Amazing food, great wine pairing, wonderful experience and night out.
It was nice to have a five star restaurant up in the north shore.
Oui! Fabulous French food with exceptional service. Really enjoyed the personalized experience with Chef Michael.
Chef Michael made our trip for my birthday very exceptional. He makes very complex foods accessible. The small size of the venue is excellent and the food is quite frankly unbelievable. I would highly recommend George Trois to both my "foody" and "non-foody" friends.
We've dined at Michael's many times, but this experience at George Trois was so high level as to be one of the best meals we've had in years. The courses were complex in taste and appearance with layers of taste that were intense and true to the ingredients, but were approachable & didn't need instructions on how to eat them. The wine flight was a perfect compliment to the courses.
The staff as always were perfectly helpful and friendly. Its always a pleasure to see them.
Why drive downtown and sit in traffic when George Trois is so easy to get to and the food for its value is better than most restaurants in the city. Chef Michael is imaginative, creative, his food is tasty and the overall experience is the best. Where are you Michelin?
I treated a friend here for her 25th birthday this past Sunday night 9/29/19! We chose the 12-course Premium Wine Flight meal! It was SPECTACULAR! I’m surprised I made it to work the next day! (Thank God, I work from home!) Each course was beautifully, meticulously and creatively prepared and presented personally by Chef Michael himself! He was so classy, charming, witty, brilliant and down to earth! We were both so impressed and enthralled by the ingenuity and amazing flavors of each of his amazing courses plus the awesome wine that Trois’ astute, expert sommelier paired each course with! In addition, we had a great time being expertly served by Alfredo, who was extremely charming, engaging, professional and attentive! We are definitely planning on coming back plus also checking out the other 2 restaurants that are under the same roof and owners (Aboyer and Silencieux)!!
Exceptional food, exceptional service, great wine and a wonderful evening.
Intimate setting in the small George Trois dining room is perfect for any occasion. The Chef was very personable, presenting and serving each dish of the 12 course menu with a detailed culinary composition of each dish.
The presentation and food was simply delicious and inventive. The portions were appropriate and plentiful. By the time we completed our meal over a leisurely schedule, complimented by a very well chosen pairing with 4 flights of wine, we were pleasantly satisfied without being overly stuffed.
The service and personal attention was unsurpassed. I travel extensively and have had the pleasure of eating at some of the finest restaurants in the world. This may not be a three star Michelin rated restaurant, but definitely ranks up there in service, amiability and culinary experience. My wife and I will definitely return.
For those of you who may ask: price is commensurate to the experience.
As always- Chef Michael was in top form. This menu was creative without being weird and the presentations were beautiful. The best thing about his tasting menus here is that they have a variety of flavors and textures that keep you wanting a few more bites (with the added benefit of not stuffing you to the point of groaning). The entire staff - Sergio - Alfredo - Xander and Chef make the evening a special experience for anyone prescient enough to reserve in the intimate dining room. A first class act.
The meal prepared by Chef Michael was outstanding. Every dish was thoughtfully put together, masterfully prepared and absolutely delicious. No need to go downtown for an amazing French meal, this is our new go to restaurant for special occasions.
Outstanding food and service! Best dining experience we’ve had anywhere in the world.
As we entered the restaurant we were seated at the bar to wait. It was extremely noisy but I wasn't concerned until we were taken to George Trois. The noise followed us into George Trois and we were immediately worried that the extreme noise outside would ruin our very expensive evening!!!! Our hearts sank.
However, as the first hour progressed, the noise outside became less of an issue with the help of piped in music that was right over our table. But.......every time a guest left the room and returned, the noise followed.
We wish that the management would find a way to insulate George Trois from the invasive noise of the other two restaurants.
Perfect place to celebrate a special anniversary. Wonderful Gourmet food & great wine.
My husband and I have been here many times. It has become exceptional. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. The service is above and beyond perfect. We have been to Alinea where you go hungry because each course is only a bite. Everest is good but Michael has exceeded it. And why drive downtown? We have been to Michelin star restaurants in Amsterdam and Paris. I am name dropping so you know that we know of which we speak
Michelin star quality in the suburbs. Truly exceptional in every regard - service, food, ambiance, wine. Creative, beautiful, and most importantly, delicious.
How many top restaurants does the chef serve every course personally? Only five tables. Very personal service. Food was great and the wine pairing was excellent. On par with top restaurants in the city.
A culinary delight! The dining room is beautiful, white and relaxing. Each course was hand-delivered by Chef Michael whose explanation and detail made it even more delicious. The service is attentive and friendly. Truly an unique experience with a menu that feeds the body and engages the soul.
Amazing, elegant, one of a kind , gourmet, creative, luxurious, superior dining experience!
Chef Michael gives you details of how each course is prepared, the ingredients, and how all the flavors fuse together. There is total attention to detail, nothing is left out!
Quite frankly, this was the best tasting menu food wise I've ever had. And in the last year and a half I've experienced 10 Michelin stars plus worth of tasting menus. The food was simply exquisite from darn near start to finish. The stumbles were courses that were just great.
Well, let’s get this out of the way - George Trois is an expensive restaurant, however, for that really special occasion, it was well worth it. After my girlfriend’s 66th birthday dinner, she walked away saying that the entire meal was ‘Magnificent”. I had made reservations almost two months in advance. The restaurant did make a phone call and send an e-mail as a reminder, which is always nice when the reservation was that far in advance. When you walk in to the door of the restaurant, you actually have three restaurants. Once we advised the host, we were seated at the bar in Aboyer. We actually observed them preparing our soon to be sipped - mojitos. Shortly after 6 p.m., we were taken in to the dining area (restaurant) that is George Trois. It is stark, white and everything is perfectly presented and placed. We were seated directly in front of the fireplace which was nicely light up. There are only five tables, though the evening that we were there, only four were utilized. There are 12 total courses and the total length of time was about 3 ½ hrs. Oh, and yes, there are no menus. We were seated by Alfredo, who was very personable, attentive & efficient during the entire meal. The cuisiniere, Chef Michael Lachowicz, serves each of the five tables individually and some of the courses, are actually prepared and describe while he is at the table. The sommelier assisted us in a wine selection and a riesling was chosen. We are not huge wine drinkers, so we decided not to go with any type of individual wine pairing for each of the courses. Chef Michael came to the table and introduced himself and started our dining experience with a huckleberry-jito, That was delicious and was the perfect start of the evening. I almost felt guilty having the Diet Coke from the bar still sitting on the table! The second course presented was white asparagus beignet with a spring pea soup. Each of the courses was perfectly timed and paced. The
If Michelin stars were awarded on the north shore, Georg Trois would be in consideration for two. This was a truly exceptional dining experience. As it should be, the food was the star of the show - inventive, flavorful, interesting, beautiful. Chef Michael's personal presentation each course added so much to the enjoyment. And the dining room as as lovely and as intimate as any I have had the pleasure of enjoying. This is a restaurant too good to be reserved for special occasions.
Loved the food but was very disappointed in the wine pairings. Would choose to order a bottle instead.
Probably the most outstanding meal we’ve enjoyed in the Chicago area. The creative dishes, perfectly prepared and presentations with dinnerware and timing make George Trois a premier addition to our Chicago restaurant scene. Chef Michael not only prepares the dishes, he comes over to each table for each course to explain both the inspiration and the preparation... I suggest making reservations and consider their wine pairings-
We dined at the new George Trois to celebrate a milestone birthday for my husband. It was a lovely evening the food was very good and the service was impeccable and good-natured. The chef served each course. We tried the Platinum wine pairings, and we were not disappointed. We will definitely return for another special occasion dinner.
Truly a remarkable culinary experience. Very grateful for the opportunity to dine at George Trois
Probably the best dining experience I've had in Chicago, as well as many other places. Service was impeccable, food was indescribably delicious and delightful to the eye. Looking forward to our next visit already. Sorry they are going to be closed for updates till some time in May. Seems like a long time to wait! :-)
Every course was delicious, attractive to see, and creative. The flow and rhythm of flavor intensity, plate weight, texture was like a gentle warm wave... of pleasure. Service was impeccable and gracious.
Room was cozy yet elegant and intimate. We will be back as soon as they reopen. I expect a second Michelin Star is not far behind.
George Trois is a treasure. You will find yourself dining in a beautiful room and taken care of by a gracious and unobtrusive staff. The foodstuffs are superb and the presentation is beautiful. Chef Michael explains each dish he delivers. I've dined at multiple Michelin three starred restaurants, and George Trois is at the same level as those other restaurants.
We were so impressed on our first visit to George Trois last Friday evening! Chef Michael has elevated his amazing cuisine to its ultimate level of taste, presentation, and elegance. The inspiration for each dish was mesmerizing and memorable, and Chef Michael's personal attention in presenting each course provided a most captivating dining experience. The service was elegant and perfectly timed, and we highly recommend the premium wine flight which was the perfect complement to the various courses of the menu. The ambiance was intimate, elegant, and tasteful. Congratulations to Chef Michael and his gracious team for creating and executing one of the most memorable evenings in the Chicago restaurant scene.
This is my new FAVORITE restaurant. Atmosphere, food, service were all amazing!!!! I can't wait to go back.
Lived up to it’s “best restaurant” rating. Perfect for special date night.
This is one of the best restaurants on the North shore. The food is exquisite, great ambiance and amazing service! Very elegant! Many thanks to chef George who made our evening of one the best ever!
Far beyond our expectations. Each serving was unique, delicious, and well presented. Ambiance is cozy and friendly. Can’t wait to do it again.
Fabulous meal in a quiet, lovely room. If you like old school French, this place does it at the highest level.
There is no better restaurant! While it is pricey it is worth saving your pennies. The special attention by Chef Michael brings it over the top when it comes to your dining experience. The excellent food is a given. The chef is what makes George Trois simply the best
An outstanding 12-course meal, with each course presented by the chef, who is friendly and accessible. A small, white room (5 tables) inside Restaurant Michael makes for quiet focus on conversation and the food. The courses were all delicious, though for us the weakest was dessert ... hated to end on a soft note! Everything else was excellent though. Staff is efficient and friendly, and not pretentious. However, this is one pricey meal (which doesn't include tip).
My husband and I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary at George Trois. It was one of the best dining experiences we've had.
We greatly enjoyed celebrating our anniversary at George Trois. Our expectations were high, and those expectations were exceeded. The ambiance, knowledgeable service, quality and creativity of the food, and personal attention made the evening special. After being seated in a private room separate from the main dining area at Restaurant Michael (which is co-located with George Trois), you are welcomed by Alfredo and Chef Michael and given an introduction to what the evening will include. Twelve courses unique to George Trois are prepared and presented at a comfortable pace, served with excellent wine pairings (three levels available) if you choose. Courses vary with season and the chef's inspirations. Everything we had was elegantly presented and tasted wonderful. Flavors were well balanced. This is truly a extraordinary dining experience suited to special occasions, special friends, and those who enjoy first-class French food and world-class service.
What a beautiful evening we had. Our second visit and we plan for a third. Chef Michael's experience, passion and culinary creativity and playfulness are poured and placed in front of you as he delivers and describes each dish nearly poetically. The intimate room of six tables allows for quiet conversation and intimacy, yet accomodates laughter and comraderie. Don't want to ruin the surprise of what the menu entails, so here's a few spoilers. A hot buttered rum cider arrives after you are seated. On a cold November night, it instantly warms and welcomes you. From there, chestnut soup (with a foie gras cracker that we shall not forget), caviar with another notable cracker, duck (and it's the only duck I'd ever request again), chicken, halibut, delightful palate cleanser, lamb that must be worshiped. There is a huckleberry/lamb side dish that I've requested as a component of my last meal, an unusual cheese course that I'd love to replicate, and then dessert, dessert and more dessert. We opted for the wine pairings which Sergio, GM/sommelier, pours with a good nature, a story if you like, and a beaming smile. There are several choices for the pairings for all budgets and livers. This was a flawless night. Have not ceased thinking about how well we were taken care of from arrival to hugs good by, to the gasps when each item was placed in front of us, to the sighs as we began to taste. This is a very special and not to be missed gem. Our Christmas wish is to have the good fortune to sit in Chef Michael's kitchen to watch and learn how to compose any of these masterful, delicious and stunning courses. But we'll settle for a return visit, knowing the next time will (hard to imagine) be even better and leave us wanting to return yet again. It's rare to see a Chef's heart and soul present itself as you do here as you have the good fortune to interact with him throughout the evening and it makes the experience that much deeper and eye opening.
