A charming village pub nestled in the heart of Spaldwick village on the unspoiled greenbelt of Cambridgeshire. This traditional, local pub offers a fresh, seasonal menu coupled with local craft beverages, all of which can be enjoyed in our rustic, country setting. Our alfresco courtyard is the perfect oasis for any passing visitor or returning local. Booked late, only had Fathers Day menu but that was more than adequate. Amazing Sunday dinner. Cauliflower cheese could have been better but other than that it was faultless

Took some friends out for dinner locally. Had booked a table, but didnt expect to be sat right next to a pool table with five blokes playing. Obviously asked to be moved, but unnecessarily as plenty of free tables that wouldn't have upset initial ambience. Shame. Everything was fine, and the food was good though.

staff was very kind and helpful. it was my wedding anniversary there was a group of men rather loud so they seated us somewhere quiter which was very appreciative. food was lovely and swiftly brought to the table . service was excellent

We looked at places to stop on route to Thorseby Hall and this looked nice on the website and when we arrrve it didn’t disappoint - the car park was fairly full but we got parked, there is also parking on the street. Inside it was very nice, well stocked bar and a nice choice of ciders. There were 3 menus all reasonably priced and we went for the £13.50 deal - main (6oz steak on an open sandwich) & drink - excellent. It was quiet at 1pm. Would eat here again when driving on the A1 north ( or south ) definitely a place to eat and drink and so easy to book.

Enjoyed the Lamb Shepherds Pie, however for £21 and the menu stating 'Buttered Vegetables', I would have expected more veg than just Cabbage !

Nice warm and friendly welcome by the staff on arrival and shown to our table. A great selection of starters and mains to suit everybody's taste. Drinks order taken and delivered promptly. Our food choices arrived in good time, nice and hot and delicious. The steak and Ale pie, mash and vegetables was very tasty as was the chicken schnitzel and double burger. Very good portions and all served with a smile. Delicious food, great service and value.

A delightful lunch. Our visit on a bustling Easter Sunday left us thoroughly impressed. The food was exceptional, and the service was remarkably friendly. We appreciated the relaxed atmosphere with no pressure to hurry. The meal offered excellent value, complemented by an extensive wine selection. There is a new menu with some excellent choices. If it is the same as the Easter Sunday lunch there will be no disappointment. This spot has now become a must-visit for us. With Uber now available locally, we have access to many great dining options, and we can't wait to return.

Untrained staff rude management. Whilst the food was good. The staff have no training table service was very poor in general then, 3/4 of the way through out meal the staff where sent to rearrange the restaurant. For another service the dragged every table they could and were so loud we couldn’t hear each other at the table. When we were leaving a man assuming he is the manager came up and asked if there was a problem in a passive aggressive manner. Instead of just saying “sorry about the racket, I will have a word with the staff and offer them some advice on how to act in the dining room of the restaurant” he said “they have to get ready for service.” Again the food was ok, but completely let down, we have been to the George a few times and always had a good experience.

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent experience at our restaurant. We understand how disruptive it can be when staff are rearranging tables during a meal, and we apologise for the inconvenience this caused. Additionally, we were made aware of a situation at the bar where a guest sitting 2 tables away from yours expressed concern about a gentleman being rude and abusive towards our young female staff members. We take such behavior very seriously, and it’s disheartening to hear that our team members were affected. One staff member, in particular, was indeed distressed by the interaction. When we approached you to offer our sincere apology and provide an explanation for the need to rearrange the tables, we noticed that you chose to walk away.
