We had a wonderful dinner with friends. I had a seafood dish that was fabulous. Great service.
Had a nice lunch here. Place was quiet on a Wed afternoon. Food and service were both good. Have been here a few times before and always enjoy it.
Went for brunch. Food and service were good although doubt there was much champagne in the mimosas!!
Food was a little pricey but delicious. Our waiter was extremely attentive. The only problem was that there was a party sat next to us that was a bit rowdy and loud—can’t be helped by the restaurant, but still irritating! We will definitely eat here again.
I've been to Genovese several times, the lastest was for Valentine's Day date with my wife.
We were seated very promptly. Service has always been good, food is very good, selection of beer and wine is solid. They also have great coffee that goes well with their desserts after lunch or dinner.
Service was great, the food was wonderful, will most definitely be back!
Day before Valentine's Day, not crowded.........service was great and food was exceptional
Went for an early Valentine dinner. We had the fried mushrooms for an appetizer and they were so good. My husband had the butternut squash ravioli which he is still raving about! I had the pappardelle pasta and it had a spicy meat sauce. So good! It did have a kick but our very helpful server told me they can leave the chili flakes out if a milder dish is preferred. The creme brûlée dessert was also wonderful. This was our first visit and we will absolutely be back!!
Enjoyed our visit during Restaurant week! Service was very attentive. Food was tasty!
We have been hear twice in the recent past. Nice variety, good portion sizes, excellent quality of food.
We dined here following a KU basketball game. We got seated right away with menus, but no wine list or drink menu. When our server finally showed up (we were upstairs), he started to take drink order but had to retreat back downstairs to get the wine list. That took 10 minutes. Our food was delicious. This review is concerning the service. When we ordered a drink refill, that took forever. He kept running downstairs for everything, even though there was a bar upstairs with a bartender. I would go back for the food, if I could be seated downstairs!
Such a great, relaxing evening. TJ, our waiter, was knowledgeable and helpful and interesting and fun. The food was very good. Not perfect, but very good. We will recommend highly to anyone looking for an enchanted evening on Mass.
We visited Genovese for the first time this past weekend and thought the food was excellent. They started us out with some complementary bread which was very good....I was disappointed they didn't offer another round of bread to go with the meal after we finished off the first sample. The appetizer was very good, so no complaints there. The main course for both of us was very delicious. The Lobster Ravioli was excellent and my wife enjoyed the Fettuccini Alfredo with grilled Chicken. The service we had was good - not above or below average. We will certainly repeat as customers in the future.
Great food and especially good mussels!
Our dinner was disappointing 4 of us ordered what we remember as our favorite pasta ..
Bolognese with mushrooms. There may have been one teaspoon of meat, a few sliced mushroom and some olive oil. There were fresh herbs (stems in the pasta to prove it). Pretty. blah. One ordered pizza and it was good. All in All ...expensive and not impressive. Probably go for mexicannexttime 😐
Food was excellent! A little noisy but service was good inspire of being a busy night. Would go back again and would recommend to a friend.
Excellent food and service. We always enjoy coming here.
This restaurant was one of the best places that I have ever gone to. This place is insanely expensive, especially for a broke college student, but it is definitely worth spending the money at least one time to make your significant other happy.
Superb. Try the mussels. Delicious!!!!
Food was excellent as always. The service was hit and miss, but not terrible, just not as great as it can be. They have a good wine menu. The dinner menu is not large, but reasonable and not overwhelming like some. All in all it is a good restaurant we plan to continue to frequent.
The bruschetta was different (it was cream cheese) but still very good. I had a chicken breast with tomatoes and a balsamic glaze and it was good, clearly the best dish at the table. There were complaints about small and inconsistent size of the lamb chops. Also, it came with gnocchi which nobody seemed to care for. I tried it and it was just ok. My wife had a very rich ravioli which was good, but overly creamy and hard to eat in one sitting. Lots of left-overs, except for me, and they seemed better the next day. This was our second trip to Genovese and probably our last.
Even though there is always a crowd, we can almost always get a table at Genovese. A few welcome changes but still with popular favorites on the menu. The flambé d creme brûlée was a big hit
The service was slow and the food was average. It took us 30 minutes before we actually saw our waiter. They did give us a free appetizer, but ironically they never told us and we discovered by looking at our tab.
Our waiter was new and did a fantastic job. The food was phenomenal and the house made sangria was perfect! Great night to meet up with family.
Fun and friendly atmosphere. Best margarita pizza ever.
Absolutely one of our favorite places to dine...anywhere! Never disappointed and always excited to return...
We made a last minute reservation and they were very accommodating on a busy Parent's weekend. We were seated upstairs next to a large group that was kind of noisy, but we understood that it was friends getting together. We've been seated on the patio in the past and that is lovely. My daughter requested a dish she'd had before, but wasn't currently on their menu and they were very nice to make it for her. Pizza's are outstanding!
My husband and I had a great meal the other night! It was a lovely and relaxing night. The food was fabulous and the waiter was wonderful and attentive!!!
We asked to be seated in a quieter area and we were. Service was attentive, although bar service was slow. Multiple Italian appetizers and pasta dishes were outstanding and authentic. Overall, comfortable and good value.
This was our first time at Genovese. We did not know what to expect but our meal exceeded all expectations. The Italian cuisine was very good, with tremendous flavor and portion. The food is served hot and the aromas were most appealing. The wine list is very good and matches most we have seen in Kansas City metro. I would recommend this place for great meals and decent prices.
We tried Genovese for the first time while visiting our daughter in Lawrence. The food was outstanding, but we noted the menu online had more choices than were available on the daily menu. Not a big problem but some in our group had already selected options online and were disappointed to learn they were not available that night. Service was outstanding and overall we had a great dinner. We will plan to go back again.
Food was quite good and served quickly. Wait staff very good. A little pricey for what we got. Drawbacks were a wobbly table and air conditioning that apparently couldn't keep up with the hot July weather. Maybe go in April or October.
I really enjoyed the cuisine at Genovese. The wait staff were really perceptive to our needs. I didn't feel rushed to pay and the atmosphere was cool and calm.
Went here for our anniversary and enjoyed the experience, food was good, service was excellent- didn't have to wait and weren't pushed or rushed for anything.
Food was ok, but nothing special. Expensive. The service was good.
The house made pasta with wine sauce was delicious! I especially liked that we could choose a particular pasta and pair it with any ingredients plus a protein of our choice.
We have eaten here numerous times and it never fails us. We love it and highly recommend it
Delicious food, wonderful service and good drinks!!
We appreciated the friendly service and "can-do" attitude about changing menu items to meet our vegan needs! The owner came over twice to make sure everything was going ok. This will go on our list of all-time favorite restaurants in Lawrence, along with Zen Zero and La Parilla. Interestingly enough, all 3 are owned by the same group and all 3 offer a creative, flexible menu, good service, and nice ambience.
Our go to place in Lawrence. Haven't had a meal yet that i wouldn't recommend to a friend. Staff is friendly and engaging. Cocktails are reasonable and well made and the wine selection is adequate. A great place for a special occasion or just sit at the bar to wind down from a long day.
