Visited once again to celebrate a new job. Spot on fantastic as usual- for an app, table side Caesar salad, entrees- Chilean sea bass and the beef Wellington.
Cheesecake and orange creme brûlée for dessert.
Wine selection very good and our server, Kim wasn’t intrusive but a pleasure to speak with when conversation arose.
Without a doubt- we will return.
The evening didn't have a great start. Had to send my Cosmo back twice. I asked for a spash of cranberry and it was delivered with the usual amount of cranberry maybe they were pre=mixed). Also I ordered the grilled octopus and it was so salty I couldn't eat it. However, my fish and my husband's rack of lamb were very good.
Have been to the General Warren on numerous occasions and was pleased to enjoy yet another visit. The Steak o Poivre was excellent
Wow! We had a great celebration birthday lunch. Food was great - so was the service. Plus a special happy birthday dessert plate!
We hadn't been to the Warren Inn in years. What were we thinking??? The food was ridiculosy wonderful. Service was top shelf and a wonderful atmosphere. A must to go and experience.
We are heading back very soon.
Overall great experience, service was great from the moment we checked in.
Four of us had areservation there early on a Saturday evening. Food was slow to arrive and all entrees arrived overdone- likely held too long in the kitchen before serving.
Plating and chef's presentation was very good.
The noise from a large wedding party who congregated near the entrance penetrated the bar and all the dining areas. Their loud chatter was such that normal conversation at our table was not possible. Thankfully, they finally cleared part way through our meal.
I love the General Warren Inne, have dined there many times and certainly will go back, but this experience was disappointing.
The outdoor area is PERFECT for good weather. PERFECT ! However, the food was terrible all the way around AWFUL ! Save your money for wine and appetizers. Skip the entrees.
Top shelf service, love to try different selections off wine list, which is complete. Entrees done just right, gluten free menu super! Had lunch in little room off main dining room, nice and quiet away from crowd, it has about 6 tables, make sure you reserve one, ours was ready and taken to it without a mention.
As always, a totally enjoyable experience, good food, good servicand terrific atmosphere 😊
Their Caesar salad is fantastic!
Always a good meal and we love the atmosphere in the bar, even without the wood fires burning. We live a mile away and are thrilled to be so close to high quality dining options. We are there once a month, even if just for burgers in the bar.
Great restaurant. Good food, friendly servers, lovely setting
We love this place for special occasions the service the food the atmosphere is so warm and friendly and excellent. We’re thinking of spending the night there one night since it’s full service
Excellent food and service. Lovely fireplace and ambiance. This is the second time I ate there this week!
Food and service were great, but my ordered med-rare steak was done to med-well, and that’s being generous. It was closer to well done. Otherwise a very nice experience
We think of this restaurant as our first choice “go to” for any special occasion. The entrees are excellent, the drinks are generous and the service is top notch! We’ve gone there several times and have never been disappointed.
We had a wonderful dining experience for my husband’s 50th birthday dinner. The service was great and food was even better!
People there are just amazing. Very friendly and service oriented. Food is great and the meal pace is perfectly timed. Highly recommend.
One of the few restaurants that serves beef wellington. The portion I had was excellent. Service was attentive and professional. The atmosphere was charming. The bar seems to be a popular place. Highly recommended!
I can't say enough good things about General Warren. The ambience, the food, the service. No one wanted to pull their cell phones out (for a change)! Fine dining is a dying breed. There is no attention to detail anymore as most restaurants prefer to remain fiscally prudent. But the General is much more concerned about making their patrons happy and their dining experience memorable. A gem in Malvern! 😊
We come every year to celebrate our anniversary. Always a wonderful experience. Sandy, our waitress was and is always above and beyond to make our night special.
Once a year.
Nice old country inn
Birthday - wonderful evening. Food and staff were both very excellent.
Great drinks and delicious food. Our server Tom was very attentive and helpful when ordering. We were not rushed, however it did take longer than usual for our entree to arrive. It was a delightful evening with friends.
I like it here.
Wonderful staff. Very delicious food.
We had a great meal and the the service was most attentive. Great food and atmosphere. General Warren is a cannot miss special occasion venue
We had a lovely time at the General Warren Inn and enjoyed the very delicious filet/salmon. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Our server Kim was friendly and efficient. She offered to take our picture and even had Happy Anniversary written on the serving plate of our dessert. We recommend this restaurant, especially if you let them know you are celebrating.
Always a pleasure to dine at the General Warren Inne. Friendly greetings, attentive waitstaff, food beautifully presented, and all in a comfortable old school setting of warm fireplaces and white linen tablecloths.
Great setting, impeccable service, amazing wine list, imaginative cheese board, terrific desserts. The only thing that would have improved the experience: one or two more vegetarian/vegan options. Even so, I would definitely return.
Delicious meal, excellent service, beautiful restaurant.
Excellent food great service wonderful environment.
I apparently cannot get enough of the General Warren since I ate lunch here twice in one week. The first time I had a business lunch with a colleague. My lunch consisted of the Snapper Soup and the Lobster Pot Pie. When I got home, I told my wife about the Lobster Pot Pie. Guess what?! I had to bring her back to allow her to taste it for herself. I ordered the Lobster Pot Pie again because I liked it so much - flaky buttery crust, plenty of lobster chunks, and lots of fresh vegetables (peas, carrots, potatoes).
Both times I was fortunate to get a table next to the fireplace. It sure feels good to sit by a toasty fire when it is dreary, cold, and rainy outside.
The General Warren is still one of my favorite restaurants. It has been consistently good since I first ate there over 30 years ago.
One of the many beautiful inns and taverns in Chester County, the General Warren provides excellent service, ambiance and fine dining in a welcoming and historic location. Our meal was unrushed and superbly prepared. Staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable and the wine list is spectacular. Highly recommended for an evening out. If you haven't been, go. If you have been, go back.
The staff at the GWI were spectacular. They did everything possible to make my MIL’s 70th birthday dinner a memorable one. The chef was extremely accommodating to my allergies and prepared a delicious meal that I enjoyed without worrying. Our party had ordered ahead for the chateaubriand, and it did not disappoint! We had several small children in our party and the staff was just as concerned they were enjoying their dining experience as much as the adults. The GWI is a true neighborhood gem!
Wrote review for Trip Advisor, same applies here. The dining experience was positive, my disappointment was the portion of crab cake or serving 2 crab cakes because for the value of entree was underwhelming. I walked away hungry and that shouldn't happen at a fine restaurant.
We went here for my boyfriend's birthday dinner.
The food was exquisite! And the staff was soooooo friendly lol and attentive.
We've been here before for another of my boyfriend's birthday and that is partly why we wanted to return. We had such a great experience last time.
At first we were seated on the front porch with a view of parking cars and the coat room. We asked to be moved and they happily obliged. The second seating was much more comfortable and appropriate for the prices we were paying. Food was good. Ambiance was old fashioned dining room style. Fire places were lit but I would not say it was anything to speak of. Our service was wonderful.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Perfect restaurant for a special occasion. Leave your kids at home.
