Gene and Georgetti - Rosemont
First time diners. Service was excellent. Portions for appropriate in size.
The steaks were just ok. Other steak houses provide better quality for the $$$.
I had a bone in sirloin which was great. My fried had veal which I am told was excellent. So, good choice for dinner.
My wife ordered Chicken Marsala and Chicken Parmesan then came out. Took forever to redo. When it came, my filet was rare and not medium. Had to leave by the time the steak arrived; gave us a desert and never saw a manager or anyone else apologize. waiter was nice enough, but had too many tables at once. Won't be going back.
Love the food and the service is amazing. Shout out to Francine who made our experience even more enjoyable!
I had the distinct pleasure of hosting my cousin and her husband’s first ever trip to the Midwest and Chicago. They currently live in Powell Butte, Oregon but are originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. Actually, I decided upon Gene & Georgetti’s for steaks as I had never been there before and the Rosemont location was more convenient for us than the original River North restaurant. Having visited pretty much all the reputable and popular steakhouses in the city, Gene & Georgetti’s was put on a bucket list. My family and out of town guests were pleasantly surprised at the accommodations and quality of food and service provided on our visit. The steaks and accompanying dishes all were top quality and exactly prepared. A big thank you goes out to our server, Phillip, who was especially professional and personable which added to our enjoyable dining experience at Gene & Georgetti’s. Everything exceeded our expectations. Indeed, very impressive!
Place was relatively empty, but they sat us next to a small private room that was very noisy. Hard liquor drink was almost an empty glass. Entrees only come with sliced potatoes. Salad was wrong one and lettuce was wilted, but we kept it. Busboy tried several times to clean off the table while several were still eating.
We were very disappointed in our dinner at Gene and Georgetti. We had dined there a few years ago in Chicago and had an excellent dinner. Unfortunately my husband’s ribeye steak was over done ,the bread was hard and stale, the plate of potato’s looked like they had been served before and refried. Paying $58.00 for a steak, it should be prepared to perfection. My whitefish was ok but way overprice! The service was very good and atmosphere was nice, unfortunately we will not be returning.
Great food, friendly service. Will definitely return.
The food is quite good and there is a lot of options to choose from. The service is really outstanding. The key point one needs to know is that the noise is extremely loud and one can hardly hear yourself think.
Husband’s birthday dinner
The waiter was awesome, knowledgeable and funny!
Very pretty restaurant- great ambiance. Dined in the bar which is relatively quiet. My only disappointment was the change in the menu to all ‘alacarte items. No more salad with an entree, and you have to ask for bread. The food is always quite good, but a bit pricey.
Gene and Georgetti’s is our favorite place to eat. We go there a lot to have dinner. Servers are always kind and courteous. I have food allergies and they go above and beyond to make sure that my food is prepared correctly.
A wonderful dining experience! Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant. My only complaint and it is a minor one is the timing of the meal. I would prefer a shorter dining experience and a faster delivery of my meal. Prepare to spend at least 2 hours here.
We had a prime rib and rib-eye steak both were delicious and enough to take some home for lunch the next day. I'm sorry I forgot my server's name but he was outstanding. Will definitely return again.
Great service, excellent description of menu items. Perfect service. Table next door was a bit loud, constant chatter.
This was not our first rodeo. We love meeting our very closest friends at Gene and Georgetti to have a wonderful evening. The service is as good as it gets. My ribeye steak was the best steak I’ve had in memory. That’s saying a lot because I love steak. Everything was wonderful I highly recommend it
Went there for lunch. Great service great food. Seemed a little bit expensive. $24 dollar for shrimp appetizer only received 4 shrimp. While very good seems overpriced
Steaks were phenomenal- service was outstanding!
I honestly don’t think I would, which makes me feel bad. However, we ordered 3 steaks none of which were cooked the way we ordered them. Had to keep asking for more cottage potatoes, brought them on a salad plate. Knowing we told waitress that we wanted a large portion initially. Have been going to this restaurant for many many years, the one downtown, this was quite disappointing.
Our waiter George was amazing. Food was extraordinary!! Would definitely go there again
The food is always great! Good variety of food and drinks. Breadsticks are always a hit with our group too. Waiter was very attentive. Couldn’t have asked for a nicer meal with great friends!
Excellent service by David. Cocktails were perfectly prepared. And the food was high quality and expertly cooked. All dishes were delicious and the ambiance was perfect for our visit with long-time friends.
Jorge was our server, he went above & beyond. Unfortunately, I can’t remember our busboy’s name but he was very attentive. We were impressed with the level of service they both provided us with. Thanks for a wonderful experience.
Before going I read the menu and wine list on the website. When I ordered a bottle of wine that I had seen on the website I was told they did not have it. The wine list at the restaurant was completely different than the one on the website. I was expecting a nice affordable drinkable wine as listed on the website but had to pay twice what I expected to get a decent bottle of wine. When I spoke with the general manager as I was leaving he was not at all sympathetic to my plight. I also felt that the food prices were inflated. The food was very good but priced about 30 to 50% higher than other restaurants I've been to. And every thing was ala carte. The complimentary cottage fries were lame.
Food was mediocre at best... the sausage and peppers app was best part of meal. Otherwise will never go to this establishment again.
Always great food and service. Highly recommend for any occasion .
Phenomenal dining experience. The Chicken Parm was fabulous.
Excellent grilled calamari - steaks excellent
Terrific food and service. My steak and wife’s pork chop were outstanding. Our waitress was wonderful (last shift before going on maternity leave) great personality and worked hard. Bus boy Tony was funny and engaging.
Two out of the 3 of us were first time diners at Gene & Georgetti this past Saturday night. The menu was extensive, as were the cocktail offerings. The atmosphere reminded us of a middle of the century (think Mad Men) steak house. We were pleased with our dinners & the service we received. Sal was a very attentive server. Thank you! We’ll be back!
Great food but we had a glitch with our order. One of a party had to eat their dinner by themselves.
My second time here in the pst 2 months. First time was a grave experience including food. Second time I got the halibut, worst I ever had. Maybe I should have complained, but it would not change the experience. This just proves don’t go to a steakhouse for seafood!
Excellent service and delicious food
restaurant was understaffed. we arrived at 6:15 for a 6:30 reservation. at seven pm i checked on our reservation only to learn we were forgotten in the rush for the concert. had to slam through dinner to make the concert on time. not an enjoyable evening.
We had to wait 45 minutes for our reservation which is unacceptable. Food was charred and marginal
Restaurant was overbooked but manager was great in handling our situation.
I had reservations on the 20th @ 6;30p and we did not get seated until 7:10p... we sat for 15 mins before we even got water and a menu. Food took about another 35 mins to get. We were almost late for the concert we had tickets to for 8:30p.. Had to ask for bread and a steak knife. Food was good but, everything else was not a good experience.
This particular night, a wedding reception was taking place at the restaurant. It appeared in the dining room, you were very understaffed; it took 30 minutes after being seated for our waiter to take our drink order. That said, the waiter REALLY tried given the chaos taking place that evening. Unfortunately, anyone sitting in the center of the room, under the air conditioning, was being showered by water from the a/c ducting—besides ours, I saw two other tables complain about the same issue . I will say when the food arrived, everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. The last straw, and the reason I gave you two stars for service was due to the unprofessional behavior of one of the maitre’ds (Not referring to the gentleman in the Navy blue suit). Your restaurant has been a Chicago icon since the 1940’s, and is family owned, correct? You might want to rethink who you choose to represent your business and your family name.
