G&G came highly recommended. Exceptionally attentive service even though our dining room was full. The fried potatoes just tasted fried, nothing special and my steak tasted only of the outer char. Stick with the Italian selections. The pasta and meatballs was huge and flavorful. We shared the thick-cut bacon (Ok) and the sausage and peppers (excellent) appetizers, again, huge portions. I would definitely return.

Can't get better than G&G for real down home Chicago ambience and steak. Fish is great too - white fish was enormous! All include some veggies or potato but order more bc they're so yummy! Good wine list and decent ambience even upstairs.

Gene & Georgetti always delivers. From the greeting through the meal, G & G honors its history as Chicago's oldest steakhouse with every meal. Great drink, a deep wine list, every dinner entree accompanied by a side salad and crisp fried potatoes, fabulous prime, aged steaks done perfectly, or wonderful double-cut lamb chops, to the amazing Chicken Joe -- all served by a top-notch group of servers. G &G is at the top of its game.

Love Gene & Georgetti. Have to dine there whenever we are in Chicago. Classic, old school dining. Excellent food and cocktails. Excellent wait staff. Always a delightful experience.

I would not recommend this restaurant. It was very over priced and the food had no seasoning (no exaggeration on the steak) or was just bland. Very disappointing. The spinach tasted frozen straight from the bag with a tad of garlic salt.

As an out-of-towner (from the San Francisco area, in California), I greatly enjoy Gene & Georgetti because it offers such an authentic and distinctive Chicago experience. The kids I know use the expression "old school," and G&G represents the best of what the old school provides. The menu offers what patrons have grown to expect and appreciate over many years of enjoyable meals; the waiters are pros. A few reviewers say they're uncomfortable because they're not regulars, but as in many long-established restaurants, first-time customers can overcome that issue by talking with the staff, showing they appreciate what's distinctive about the place, and stretching themselves a little. Ditka's and the Chicago Chop House are also good spots, but please come here or to one of those alternatives instead of wasting an evening in one of the national chain operations. Take your time and enjoy being a grown-up.

This was our second time dining at your location. We are from New York. Food was excellent and our server was top shelf. Did not feel rushed at all !

I've been to this place once before. My steak was good the first time around. This time however my steak was charred on the outside and taste burnt. The inside of the steak was nice and looked great, however it was hard to get around the burnt part as the whole of the steak was charred. Other than that everything else was great.

Very pleasant experience. We were a little late and the staff accommodated us. The wait staff was attentive, and made suggestions, since it was our first time there. The food was very good.
