Stop the trains!! Everything else was perfect . Waiter extra special
Have wanted to dine here for a long time. It did not disappoint!!
Our server was absolutely horrendous he ruined our perfect evening call been coming here for years so so disappointed in how we were treated
Perfect! Food, service, all outstanding.
Steak was cooked properly, but it was lacking a little flavor and dry at times. Overall it is a cool atmosphere, but the food was average. The calamari as an appetizer was good
Great Steak, great seafood, great authentic Italian food— and fabulous service and atmosphere. This is the best of Chicago— in the heart of Chicago. It’s real and not owned by a chain of restaurants. This is run by family, powered by work snd love of Chicago and love of tradition. Go for special occasions or just because it’s time for dinner— or pick up to eat at home. And FYI- I am not connected with this restaurant- I just want to share my review of it with you. Enjoy! Try the Chicken Vesuvio, Ny Strip Steak, any pasta, and of course Tiramisu! ,
There is such a thing as too much attention. We had to tell our waiter and others MANY times we were not ready to order drinks, or salads or our entrees. One does not want to be rude and say please back off, but it was obnoxious. Unfortunately we were with a guest who was a first timer at G and G so it was also embarrassing as hosts. We were not there overlong or especially slow. We just wanted a moment to chat before diving into ordering . The food was very good. But it is a pricy restaurant so one expects a similar level of service.
Wonderful experience! Thanks for the hospitality Ken, Nicole & Jessica. We can’t wait for our next trip to Chicago.
We had 7:30 reservations and waited 7 minutes before the hostess showed up at her station. Then we were told it would be a half hour wait. So we opted for outside but wasn’t too happy about that. Cool and windy. Then we were seated right under the “el train” that came down both directions every 10 minutes. So we told ourselves we have been to Gene and Georgetti’s twice. First time and last time. Was really disappointed. Thought it was going to be an experience, it was. … Just a bad one.
Food was great and plentiful service was really good also will be back whenever in Chicago
Constantine was an excellent server. The whole staff was very welcoming and warm.
There's a reason G&G has been around since 1941!
Have this place another go, service is still not that great. Server was a bit rude and just overall seemed bothered by us. The food was good. But this time my steak wasn’t as good as the first time. For the price I don’t think you get what you pay for. We also had dessert. The Cheesecake is super dry and intolerable to finish and the Flan was very much dull. Don’t know if I’ll return.
I had a better steak on the Amtrak train coming to Chicago! The bone-in ribeye was tough and poorly seasoned.
Steak was somewhat under done
Very accommodating service. We shared our dishes, so Gene & Georgetti did the dividing for us. No rushing. Great food.
Food was mediocre. Service was ok, but did have to ask for olive oil and salt three times. No sparkling water bottles. Steak quality was good but had little flavor. Chocolate cake dessert was super market quality and taste.
Had reservation for wife's birthday dinner..... Then the warm greeting and smiles from the phenomenal hostess was awesome!
After seated promptly..no wait and seated upstairs..we we're greeted with smiles and charm from an awesome Humberto and his VIP like treatment was perfect. He kept the drinks flowing (2 bottles of champagne ) and he had and chill professional vibe. He got out our appetizer as I ordered the side of onion rings and it was DECADENT and large! The potatoes and salad were split by the two of us... Great time!
The shrimp is a must have. But I couldn't finish Booooooo..I will be dreaming of it later.
As an entree my wife ordered the filet. I think it was created by a magician in the kitchen. All food was fantastic and you could tell all servers were working as one team and it all flowed well!
Thank you Gene and Georgetti for allowing us to experience decadent food on our way to enjoying Our Chicago vacation
A franchise down there and I will assist in any way I can!!!
Great steak and atmosphere! Service was fantastic!
We will be going to Gene & Georgetti’s every time we come to Chicago. Loved the food, ambience, history and friendliness of servers and patrons!
Did not meet expectations, but we gave it a try and will try something else next time in Chicago. Does not hold a candle to Jeff Ruby steakhouses
Incredibly disappointing. There has to be at least 15 steakhouses in Chicago that I’d recommend over G&G. Service and ambiance are good, just an absolute train wreck of a $75 steak.
Wonderful dinning experience. Food was fantastic.
The steak was cooked perfectly but I didn’t love the flavor or char. The mashed potatoes were great.
Un clásico de Chicago,
Very nice dinner with great service. Very elegant.
Everything was wonderful about our dining experience! My steak was perfect! Very friendly service and nice cozy ambiance. Loved it!!
A bit rundown for the price to be honest.
Hello, While we appreciate positive and constructive reviews, we wanted to address your comment. When you visited, we were definitely a bit "run-down" as you say, due to our massive restoration project. Yes, painting a building from 1874 is a big task & probably wasn't "perfect" during this time. And yes, we are run-down, dealing with a pandemic and staff shortage. We would love to welcome you again, hopefully you will think we look less run-down after the building is done and pandemic is over.
Great food, service and ambiance. Would recommend
Love this place - the food, the service and atmosphere are perfect - highly recommend going there if you haven’t before.
This place lives up to the hype.
Great in all regards
Showing visitors an old school chicago restaurant. They loved it.
We loved it! Couldn’t of chosen a better place for what we had planned in Downtown Chicago! Drinks were great! Food was even better! Steaks, Seafood, and apps were phenomenal.. please do yourself a favor a reserve a spot at Gene & Georgetti’s ...
Ordered 2 do their famous chicken dishes..They were plentiful but both were tasteless…
This is the best steakhouse in the city. Steaks are Pittsburgh-style crispy charcoaled outside, red inside. The veal chop is absolutely unique. Creamed spinach is the gold standard for any other place to compare.
The waiters sometimes don't even give you a menu, they just tell you about the options. Plus you can get seated pretty late, maybe up to 11pm before COVID.
