Birthday dinner although they were sold out of the pasta special. We did get a complimentary birthday flan dessert!
Food was excellent. Been to several Chicago steakhouses and this would be near the top. Old time feel to place. Great service.
Servers were not very friendly from what I am use to.
I made a reservation for 12 & 15 people ended up showing up but the staff was SO accommodating for us & serviced everyone without missing a beat. We were also running late for our reservation but the staff was able to bump us back 15 minutes, which was so helpful. My only gripe was the lobster in my surf & turf meal was tough. Everything else was perfect.
great classic spot with plenty of old vibe but the food is great
What an amazing experience eating at a famous Chicago establishment. I would highly recommend dining here for any out of town visitors looking for a unique Chicago experience!
The host was very rude and made us feel unwelcome. Our food wasn't good either. Mashed potatoes tasted like they came from a box. Asparagus was chewy. The calamari lacked seasoning.
Our server was great. But that was the only good part of the meal which is unfortunate because our bill was $140.
Second time eating at Gene and Georgetti’s. It’s a Chicago institution that everyone should enjoy at least once!
Loved our experience here - particularly our waiter from Ecuador! He was so personable and attentive! I wish I had gotten his name but he was the best! Food was to die for!
Old school Italian and steak house with excellent food and fun, uber-efficient wait staff. We had a really fun time and dinner was delicious. Will return when returning to Chicago.
We were in from Colorado. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Our server and service was professional and attentive. The only reason I put loud for noise is because a large very drunk obnoxious group came in and sat right next to us about 1/2 way through our dinner and they were so loud we literally couldn’t hear ourselves. But everything from food to service to drinks were fantastic. Definitely would go back when we come back to Chicago! Thank you!
Interior is a little run down but it has that old building charm. The food was fantastic and service was amazing. We had 2-3 waiters tending to our every need during dinner. Will be planning to go back again sometime.
Always a great meal there. The best staff around
Consistently great food and great service. Old school.
Wonderful food and great service!
Tradition and quality at its best. Superb dinner experience
Classic trip back in time from the menu to the setting.
Was a birthday dinner with my wife and some friends. Excellent service and great food.
Problem at start with table. But, we worked it out after a little delay satisfactorily.
One of the very best steaks in America, without exaggeration!
Gene and Georgettis was amazing! I loved it! First time going to the Chicago location and I can't wait to go back! A true gem! The Shrimp De Jonque was out of this world and hands down one of my favorite dishes of all time. The bartender/server, Ken, was very funny and very professional. A true Chicago throw back that never gets old! I highly recomend going there and savoring each moment!
Outstanding meal and service. The staff made our speciql evening even better. Thank you
An absolute favorite in Chicago
Great Ambiance, Service and Food
Old School Chicago Italian
Two men sitting beside us were talking loudly about hiring prostitution and sharing pictures that were highly inappropriate with the close seating of this restaurant we could not help but see and hear. It was awful
Great Food! Great Service! Excellent Food! Will Be Back!
Classic old school italian and steakhouse combo that can’t be beat!
I was very disappointed as I had eaten there a few years back and remembered it as being amazing. The mussels were minuscule. The bone in filet was not very tender and small for the price. The house salad was a bowl of iceberg lettuce with nothing else but a wedge of tasteless tomato. My wife’s veal chop was small and mostly fat and gristle. I will not be returning. Very sad.
This place is in Old School, absolutely must visit classic! Everything is good, but make sure you get the thick cut bacon. And if you're feeling a bit adventurous, I'd suggest the liver and onions. Yeah.
We were seated upstairs even though we requested a downstairs table. There was a loud and obnoxious table full of Alabama fans next to us as well as many people under-dressed for what is allegedly a nice restaurant. (Shorts and flip flops and baseball hats??) Food was average. Waiters bumped into our table multiple times with not even a hint at being sorry. Did I mention food was average at best? When we left the downstairs was nice and at normal decibel level, people were dressed appropriately and it has a completely different “feel”. Clearly if you decide to go eat here, make sure you are seated downstairs instead of at the “kids” table upstairs. For $250 for two of us I certainly was expecting a lot more from this old school place. Decor is tired. Too many waitstaff in each other’s way. Just a really bad experience. Had the food been better it may have been ok but as it stands the night was ruined by obnoxious fellow patrons from of all places... Alabama. Roll Tide. No thank you. The staff made zero effort to quieten the fools even though several tables were obviously annoyed with them as well. I will take my business elsewhere next time for sure.
A great dining experience. The waiters are friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. This was a first time visit for my wife and I, and we chose Gene & Georgetti's to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The next time we come I'd like to try an Italian dish. Superb all the way around.
Food pretty terrible for price. Atmosphere shabby run down
I think this place is past its prime. We ordered the mushrooms, veal Marsala and the ribeye special.
Overall the food was bland. The veal tasted like it didn’t have Marsala wine it in. More like oil and garlic. Also, our medium steak was delivered chard on the outside and blue on the inside. We had to send it back. They returned it rare and even more chard on the outside. So much of it was inedible. Such a disappointment for a $60+ steak.
Such a classic restaurant. I have not been a guest in twenty years and it hasn’t changed at all, excellent food and service.
Great food Great atmosphere. A must eat place in Chicago
Overrated & over priced. It seems to be surviving on its reputation
We’re from Chicago and has out of town guests in for the weekend. We thought it would be a good choice for dinner and we definitely weren’t disappointed! Delicious food! 👍🏻
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday, and it was great! They were so kind and even gave him a complimentary flan for dessert (I typically do not like flan but this was EXCELLENT). I am a vegetarian and really enjoyed the stuffed mushrooms - my boyfriend LOVED his steak. :) Service was great - we felt very attended to.
We had filete mignon, prime rib and T bone, served in a family style. Meat was nice tender and juice. Parents and kids are all happy.
Juan is great.
Great family spot!
Great steaks and good service. Sides were big enough. We had a 24 oz. Ribeye Shared for two and was big enough.
Old school restaurant of the type that is harder and harder to find. Classic white-coat service and straight-forward no frills menu of Italian staples and beautiful steaks.
