   We dine at Gemma several times a month — mostly for brunch. It’s brunch, so although the spot is well past it’s prime, the food is not bad and generally the service is very good — so I generally won’t grumble about the inflated prices. Today, however, service was strictly amateur hour. Don’t give me a 17-year old who knows nothing about service and charge me fine dining prices. A holiday weekend is not an excuse. What a disappointment.

   sat inside on a gorgeous evening so it would be a little quieter - the ambience inside is gorgeous!! Great food, I think portion sizes were perfect, prices a little high but felt worth it. Excellent wine list with super reasonable options. Solid friendly service

   The service was really awful. We sat for 15 minutes before anyone came to take a drink order or food order and that was only after we flagged a server down from another section. Bad sequencing of food, the food in the end was mediocre at best. Only positive is that it is a cool ambience but otherwise would not recommend.

   Last night was another perfect experience at Gemma, a neighbor favorite. Stylish, comforting, and consistently good food and service lure me back for any occasion. My local East Village go-to that is not overrun by NYU students (no offense) and you can actually hear each other while you enjoy every last bite of amazing seafood frito misto, ragu papardelle, and molten lava cake. Ask for a booth.

   Our Reservation was at 630 and it was perfect for a Sunday. We sat a bit and ordered the Beet salad(Bietole) and a mixed greens and citrus salad(Trevisano). We shared the Malfati (a green dumpling with cheese in brown butter..hmm) and we finished with the Strip Steak and Bronzino Entrees. All good. A Chic cake and Tartufo with coffee stuffed our guts. A nice time with great ambiance.

    The pizza was good, the caccio e pepe pasta was undercooked but the sauce was good. The decor of the restaurant is really Nice but the prices are way too high! 26$ a small size pizza is too much!

    Food was great, service was not. They said they were bringing bread, it never came. They cleared the appetizer plates before bringing appetizers then had to bring the plates back. Then they brought the main course before clearing all of the appetizers off the table and were annoyed when we asked them to clear the table first. This is the first review I have submitted on open table because I am genuinely confused how they thought this made sense. Food was great though.

    Took a group of 12 people here. I'm from out of town and was taking 12 NY'ers here for a dinner. #1 comment: "This FEELS like NY" - this felt small but not too small. They put our group in a long table in the middle of the restaurant. So, not quiet, but again, we wanted lively. We wore jeans and fit fight in. The Food was amazing and the service was too. For dessert, we had the tiramisu and the sorbet encased in chocolate - both was perfect! Wine is Italian Wine - conservative list, but you'll find something. Enjoy

    The place was crowded and they were short-staffed. So, I think service suffered a bit. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The only mistake was that the bill was incorrect, charging us for things we didn't order. But they corrected it, so it was fine. The food i very good and we love the atmosphere.

    Food was great. Ww ordered lots of appetizers pizza Bronzino and wild mushroom! The only reason for the four rating is after we paid our bill and very generously tipped. We stayed and chatted a bit longer. The waiter never checked in on us to see if we wanted another cocktail or water. I think that would have been very nice. I wish he would have .

    The booths are ridiculously tight if you are not a size 0 to 2 then you should ask to be seated at a regular table not a booth because it is embarrassing.

    The restaurant is beautiful and the food was outstanding. I haven’t had a properly cooked strip steak like that, it melted in my mouth and was cooked to perfection. The calamari was delicious too and my daughter really enjoyed the parpadelle. Oh and the cocktail Viaggio…definitely ordering more than one next time I’m there and I’m not in Mom mode. 🤣

    We were not blown away by the food. The restaurant was very quaint, and we enjoyed the atmosphere. We felt like sardines at the table where they seated us. Chair was uncomfortable and I was up against a railing so there was not much room to maneuver. My husband was up against the wall in a banquette type of seating. There just wasn't much room and it was uncomfortable. The highlight of the night was seeing Keanu Reeves come into the restaurant for dinner.

    Literally don’t go here, there are SOOOO many other places worth your time and money. Service was some of the worst I’ve ever experienced and food can only be described as “entirely average”. 10/10 would not return.

    The atmosphere is trendy and very nice. The restaurant was packed and extremely noisy with tables quite close together. The food is just ok. Our pizza was good but the cheese was a little rubbery, beet salad was great. The cacio Pepe was undercooked and lukewarm. Dessert chocolate lava cake was delicious. So a bit of a roller coaster.
