Wonderful atmosphere, knowledgeable, attentive and friendly waitress. Loved her recommended wine and food pairings. Delicious!
Gemma never disappoints. The food is spectacular, the service (Allison and Desiree) exceptional and the ambiance perfect. Few restaurants in Dallas consistently knock it out of the park like they do
Service was amazing. It was a perfect spot for an intimate birthday celebration.
Get the pork chop. Just do it.
Great, as always! Our family of 4, including a 9 and 11 year old, had dinner for Mother’s Day and it couldn’t have gone better. Great service, great food, great atmosphere. Not too big, not too small, kids treated well and engaged by the staff as young adults, a great help to us as we teach our children how to behave in public places. Staff patiently allowed our children to order their own drinks and food, answered questions about the menu, and accommodated odd requests such as ketchup for the Chicken Porchetta for my son.
Delicious as always. Great service, the wine recommendation was on point. Gemma is still our go to when you must want a great meal
Menu featured interesting fresh and seasonal ingredients. My wife and I had pasta dishes for main courses. Mine was squid ink bucatini with shrimp and English peas. My wife’s dish featured oxtail and fiddleheads. Both were delicious. Our salads were equally interesting — shaved asparagus for me and a spring salad with watercress and peas for my wife. Our shard appetizer of baked oysters and our desserts were equally good. Service was friendly and perfectly paced to allow us to leave the restaurant in time to attend a concert for which we had tickets. We will definitely be back.
Every part of this late night meal was a joy, from the friendly greeting as we entered, to the perfectly prepared Gemma Manhattan (the second one was also perfectly prepared), to a delicious array of small plates, including a Cesar Salad, fried olives, some sort of cauliflower dish, a chocolate pot de crème and some other dishes that were also delicious. We were weary travelers who very much needed to be refreshed. We had just driven into Dallas from Memphis, through wild rainstorms and miles of slow bumper-to-bumper traffic, so Gemma's warm welcome, powerful cocktails and scrumptious food were just what we needed.
Unfortunately we had to leave before finishing dinner due to a family emergency, so they boxed it for us.
From the moment you walk in the door you realize you’re getting the best value for your dollar with the Gemma experience from the service to the meal. Hands-down the best restaurant I could recommend to anyone visiting Dallas
Always great! Time after time consistently great food and service!
The winner of the entrees was for sure the squid ink pasta! The winner for the apps was the duck prosciutto!
Pregnant so had the passion fruit mocktail and it was perfectly delish!
Excellent meal. Every dish was well-prepared and delicious. Service was outstanding and well-balanced. Can't wait to return!
Gemma is one of our go to spots. Rarely do you find a place that makes excellent seasonal cocktails and food. We enjoyed some light refreshing cocktails before our dinner, which were perfect for the warm day. Our meal
consisted of the fried mushrooms, burrata and tuna for an appetizer and their fantastic rabbit pappardelle and some wild boar pasta and golden beet salad. Overall, a great meal and great place to have dinner.
With its California coastal inspired decor and Napa Valley connection, it seemed like the perfect place for a homesick West Coaster to dine. To their credit, the scones are superb and their cocktails divine. To their discredit, the space is cramped and very loud as the kitchen is open and only feet from several tables, including ours, which was also on the restroom route. The food was mediocre, with the white beans arriving undercooked and the gai lan bitter. I was very disappointed and won't be going back. Such a shame as I wanted to love it!
Wife’s 50th Birthday. Her favorite place to go. Things were great until we waited 40 min for the entree. There seemed to be a problem in the kitchen because all 10 of the waiters were just hanging out waiting for their food to come out. This place requires reservations at prime times to be booked at least three weeks in advance. If it wasn’t for my wife I would never go back. I told the. It was a milestone birthday and she got a nice card but that was it. Go to Nick and Sams for special occasions, they treat you right and will take care of their repeat customers.
Very pleasant, attentive, and unobtrusive waiter. Superb wine recommendation from the delightful sommelier. Stellar food delivered with ideal portions. Gemma did not, and never has, disappoint me as a casual fine dining venue.
Madison was amazing and the food was sensational!
We had such a great time! The food was wonderful & our server (Desirae) was fabulous. The restaurant itself is small enough that it feels very personal and it is wonderfully decorated as well. There is an extensive wine list & the cocktails were great. We can’t wait to go back!
This is a beautiful restaurant. The drinks and service were excellent. The food was good. 4/5
Food and drinks excellent. We had a great time and will definitely be back!
This was my third time to Gemma. I find the menu difficult to find something to my liking. My friend felt the same way. With that said everyone I know who has been to Gemma loves it and highly recommends it.
Great service very professional and the food was awesome
The food and service is impeccable.
I can’t wait to go back and try so many more dishes!
The service was wonderful, the waitress provided a shall for me because she could not manage the air. The scone/biscuits provided before our meal were also warm and delightful. The corner table was a bit awkward into other people's tables; but overall it was a great meal and experience at a new restaurant for a rainy Saturday.
Will be recommending this place & returning soon!
Brian was excellent in regards to pairings and what wine he would recommend. Madison was our server and she was also knowledgeable, friendly and overall made our night fantastic.
Disclaimer: we just moved to downtown and have been looking forward to go to Gemma's for a few weeks now. This was finally our first time there and it was for their "famous" reverse happy hour. I can't speak for the rest of the menu so maybe there's that.
The bad: considering that we were there for maybe 30 minutes at 11pm on a Sat, we were looking for 3 things: a nice ambience, good oysters and good cocktails. The cocktails were Ok, like any place in town, nothing special. The oysters on the other hand were without a doubt the biggest joke that I've had at a restaurant in my life. These would not be worth the money if they were giving them away for free. All 12 of them were just a piece of skin on a shell and that's it. And not only ours, but we looked and every single one on every table were similar excuses of oysters. How do we know? Because the ambience sucks too. My wife, which was seated on the other side of a 2 seat table was further away from me than the people from the 2 tables to my right and left. Spirit Airlines should take notes from this restaurant as to how to scientifically cram more seats in a small space and make it as uncomfortable as possible for patrons to have a conversation. And yes, I could easily tell you about the divorce problems of the lady on my left and the alcohol fueled parties of the SMU girl on my right in addition to the size of the oysters on their table. No thank you (although to be fair, the entertainment these ladies provided is the only reason this place gets 2 stars instead of 1, but you can listen to someone else's conversation for only so long before it gets really awkward).
The good: they're a restaurant. They serve food. Maybe their real food is actually good. We may actually give their dinner menu one last chance at some point but knowing what we know now, we are definitely no longer looking forward to it or willing to drive even 5 minutes out of our way to go to Gemma's.
Great food and service only negative is the temperature, it was so cold, everyone around us was shivering
We had an absolutely wonderful meal at Gemma. Drinks, starters, mains and service - could not have been better!
Everything was fire
Food was not good at all. We both felt ill after. Do not order the charred cauliflower ($12) as it was bland and tasted boiled. the fried olives ($8) and pecans were interesting but not very good. If you're going to charge these prices the food has to be epic. the egg noodle dish was not what was described. it was egg and noodles seperate. pork chop was excellent however the kale was the worst we had ever tasted. wouldn't go back if u paid me. dont understand the hype. the service ran so long they brought us a 2nd bowl of the olives and pecans ($8). then she said she took one of them off the bill for us... even though we are neither bowl. they brought the first one out for celebrating a birthday on the house... so we got double billed for an item we were served twice and never ordered, and had one taken off the bill ridiculous. do not understand the hype. that being said the pork chop was good and worth ordering for to go.
Menu was innovative. It had classic dishes with a twist. The service was wonderful all the way around, from the hostess, to the bartender, to the waitress to the servers. I love the feel of the space, and will definitely return.
Great food that was not overly fussy. Server was very attentive but in a very unobtrusive way. People watching was good and sort of eclectic. We would totally go back again!
Excellent food and great service as always.
My fiancé’s birthday dinner. Incredible service, food and hospitality!
I had heard that Gemma was good, but I was not prepared for HOW good. Everything on the table was superb--perfectly balanced and beautifully presented. The roasted beet salad was a great prelude; I need hardly say, no canned mandarin orange slices here. The oysters ordered by one of my fellow diners looked fabulous (alas, I am allergic!); the cauliflower shared all around roasted just right. I ordered the Texas quail with lentils, despite the server's saying that she is not a quail fan personally; but she allowed that it was a popular dish, and I can see why. The quail was succulent and the lentils, which can be dull, were pleasingly acidic. All my friends were happy, too, though I have forgotten what they ordered. The service was attentive but not obtrusive. My only complaint is that while Gemma is not as loud as some restaurants, it could be quieter. Whatever happened to the quiet meal? At least we could hear ourselves talk and think.
Food was delicious and the variety of items fit our groups need. The scones starter and the varied water choices is a nice touch. Sales were light and tasty and the mains were very good.
Gemma's called to confirm our reservation. They asked if we were celebrating anything special. It was my daughter's birthday. When we arrived we were promptly seated and my daughter was given a personalized birthday card. The staff was extremely attentive to our needs. We were never left wanting anything (even our water glasses never went below halfway). The food was excellent! The whole experience was Fantastic!!
Amazing as always!
