Gemini Ratings and Reviews
I thought that the meal was very good. I eat out at a table service establishment about 2-4 times a week depending on the week. Food and ambiance were so much better than I had remembered it as Gemini Bistro, glad they made those changes. I did feel like the menu was kind of pricey for a neighborhood spot. My friend and I were just getting dinner on a Monday night. Had the restaurant week special and two glasses of wine and the bill was $160 plus tip. Again, Loved the food, but got the bill and was meh on the food because I felt it was good, but I probably won't be back. Unless with my husband on a "nice" meal date. Again, I'm totally aware of costs and dining, but this wasn't fine dining and the price seemed a little much for what we had, to think, what if I ordered everything I had in normal size, not on tasting special....
We live a block away and love this place, but it has definitely gotten crazy expensive for what used to feel more like a neighborhood, any day, sort of place. It's usually full, so I suppose that means they've priced it correctly, but I miss the slightly-more-reasonable days. You will *buy* bread & butter now. The food is really good though.
Went for Sunday brunch. The restaurant started to fill up after 11. We had the lox and crabcake versions of the egg Benedict which were delicious, and the lox platter. We were all very happy with what we ordered, but wished there were more breakfast choices. 90% of the menu choices were lunch foods. Very family friendly.
Went during restaurant week & had to wait more than 15 min. for table even with reservation. Our food was served in a timely manner with little interaction with the waitress. In fact, she was blasé and uninvolved which was a big negative. Water was refilled by busses but she never returned for additional beverage orders. While our food was okay nothing impressed enough to warrant a return.
Gemini is one of my favorite Chicago restaurants. It’s always lively, the food is delicious, and the service is great. Everyone seems really happy you’re there!! I don’t live in that neighborhood anymore, but I’d go back any day of the week to enjoy a meal there!!
But if suggest making a reservation!!
We are regulars here but I've never left a review. Simply, the food and service are fantastic so what more do you need? The redesign of the interior from the old Bistro Gemini is lighter and more comfortable, with a larger bar to sit and eat if you desire. The menu is delicious top to bottom. Try the mussels, may be the best in the city now with an Indian flavor profile, and the short rib is the best thing on a menu of winners. The service is always spot on. We go early and take our kids and they are treated like adults (they are 12 and 16), we take friends and first timers always love it. We dine out a lot, and Gemini is our number one go to solid for an overall perfect dining experience (food, service, location and value).
