Food was an appealing mixture of typical brunch favorites with some elements of Tex -Mex, flavor skewed to traditional with limited use of spices. Certain menu items lacked balance and were, at best, slightly overcooked. Eggs Benedict was good, though the sauce was underwhelming when compared to the overpowering flavors of the sausage. Steak Rancheros contained an excellent salsa, with the perfect amount of heat, eggs reminded me of something one might get at a holiday inn express, lacking in seemingly fresh ingredients. Potatoes provided a base for the dish that was much needed.
Overall, Gemini provided a pleasant dining experience with an easy atmosphere. It was an excellent juxtaposition to the typical Lincoln Park brunch experience, often characterized by drunken 20-somethings students trying to binge away their Sunday-Scaries. The environment was perfect for a calming, mid-morning experience. Crowd was primarily the semi-sophisticated 30-something bourgeois class that has begun to inhabit the neighborhood. Aesthetically, restaurant married an urban feel with traditional diner staples.
One of the best restaurants in Lincoln Park. Great vibe and the food is exceptional.
Neighborhood gem that appeals to all age groups. Excellent seafood, great pasta, terrific beers that no one's every heard of. They have valet parking, a must in this busy Lincoln Park area A very lively bar scene. A bit noisy, but simply a sign that everyone's having a great time.
Our local go to! Love it!
Great food, atmosphere and service. Enjoyed - couple drinks, wedge salads, chicken wrapped with pancetta, and lemon olive cake. Highly recommend.
This is a great addition to the neighborhood. It blends together good food, great atmosphere where you can actually hear other guest. I love the swordfish chop!
We moved to Lincoln Park from the South Loop in summer, 2017. We've gone to Gemini at least five times. The outdoor space is lovely (obviously not open yet in April 2018). This most recent time we took friends from the South Loop. The friends both had the fried chicken Sunday special, my wife had lamb and I had a special swordfish chop. We shared a bottle of one of the special wines for only $42. We all were very happy with our entrees.
We requested a quiet table and a larger table on our reservation. When we arrived, the host (male) walked us to a loud tiny/very tightly situated table. I advised him that this is not correct that we requested otherwise. He said "So has everyone before you." I was shocked at the response and I said, "But we made the reservation in advance." He replied, "So did everyone else."
He could have said, let me see if we can come up with something or when something along those lines will be available. We are very full tonight, so please excuse the wait.
Gemini is one of my favorite restaurants and I have been back several times since it reopened. I love the food, and the service is top notch. It is not inexpensive, but it’s not overly expensIve, and it’s worth it. And there is a good range of prices, and a very good selection. I am a big fan of the restaurant!
We really enjoy the new Gemini perhaps more than it's previous incarnation. The menu selection is much more diverse - we have not had a bad dish here in the 4-5 times we've visited in the last year. The empanadas and nachos are a great starter as well as the parker rolls - especially if you're in a comfort food state of mind. For dinner, I had the tortallacci and my wife the scallops - both dishes were flavorful. On separate occasions we've had the trout, chicken, burger and steak frites - same results across the board. Gemini continues to be one of our neighborhood favorites.
Gemini is great since they rebranded. Food is excellent, service is excellent, decor is a lot more fresh and modern. Bar is a great place to sit and hang out, but brunch and dinner are great too.
Delicious appetizers, but the steak I ordered for the main came out so cold the butter on top never melted. Pretty disappointing for its price.
First time at this restaurant. Good atmosphere. Great Server. We thought the menu had a lot of variety. We had empanadas for an appetizer, the fish on special and a filet and split a side of Brussel Sprouts. Perfect amount of food. Steak was medium rare as requested and delicious. Ended with some sorbet. I would recommend and will be back.
Ryan and his team have created the consummate neighborhood experience that upholds the quality expected for the Lincoln Park area. Great staff, consistent, high quality food with an atmosphere that accommodates everything from date night to early dinner with your kids. We have loved it from the day it opened.
Overall the place is rather overpriced for what you are getting. Especially brunch menu where starters are priced close to the main course and yields miniscule portions.
The food is great and we've been coming here for a while. It's a go-to restaurant.
Friends since kindergarten 60+ year’s ago in Iowa came to Chicago from San Francisco. Shared a phenomenal dinner & conversation for nearly 3 hours in your fantastic restaurant!
Food quality was amazing. Great service. Menu was smaller but definitely something for everyone. They also have specials - when I went they had a Veal Parm and a seafood dish with clams, halibut, and lobster. All very good.
Awesome in every way! A little bit of a wait even though we had a reservation, but the front desk people kept checking in with us and were very apologetic. They do everything well here. Food is amazing and some reasonably priced wines as well. 10 thumbs up!
Amazing!!! Such helpful staff and incredible food
Everything was great!!
We have been going to Gemini for the past year and love it! It's our go-to local restaurant
that offers a great ambience, fun bar, very good service and very good food. There is definitely
a local feeling here which is nice....warm and friendly.
Our dinner was terrific so was the selection of wines....but best of all was the butterscotch sundae....their pastry chef is divine!
Great food, great service, great ambiance. Would definitely go back!
Price is steep for what you get but what you get is very good!
Really good food, excellent service and much better than the original menu. I only wish it were a little bit quieter
Love this place. The food is always great and the service is wonderful. Perfect balance of helpfulness without being overbearing. The restaurant does get loud when it is busy, but the room and ambiance are comfortable and lovely. It's a favorite.
We will be back:)
It was a great atmosphere with delicious food. It was a little overpriced, but the ambience and the staff made the experience very enjoyable. Great service. Great attention to detail. Will definitely be back.
Service was excellent
I live in Lincoln park and this restaurant is one of my favorites and a go to for us. Love to bring my friends from the burbs here.
I thought that the meal was very good. I eat out at a table service establishment about 2-4 times a week depending on the week. Food and ambiance were so much better than I had remembered it as Gemini Bistro, glad they made those changes. I did feel like the menu was kind of pricey for a neighborhood spot. My friend and I were just getting dinner on a Monday night. Had the restaurant week special and two glasses of wine and the bill was $160 plus tip. Again, Loved the food, but got the bill and was meh on the food because I felt it was good, but I probably won't be back. Unless with my husband on a "nice" meal date. Again, I'm totally aware of costs and dining, but this wasn't fine dining and the price seemed a little much for what we had, to think, what if I ordered everything I had in normal size, not on tasting special....
One of best Restaurant Week meals we have had over the years! Ample portions of food actually on regular menu.
Service was professional, friendly and attentive
Thanks much! Will return soon
We live a block away and love this place, but it has definitely gotten crazy expensive for what used to feel more like a neighborhood, any day, sort of place. It's usually full, so I suppose that means they've priced it correctly, but I miss the slightly-more-reasonable days. You will *buy* bread & butter now. The food is really good though.
Service was fantastic and the menu had a variety of choices. Noise levels seemed to get very loud at times.
Went for Sunday brunch. The restaurant started to fill up after 11. We had the lox and crabcake versions of the egg Benedict which were delicious, and the lox platter. We were all very happy with what we ordered, but wished there were more breakfast choices. 90% of the menu choices were lunch foods. Very family friendly.
This restaurant seems to take criticism to heart noticed improvement when I brought up failings. Staff is always welcoming even though we are”senior” citizens. This is definitely a plus
We had reservations for 9pm and weren't seated until after 9:30pm, but Management was apologetic and treated us to an appetizer. The food was incredible and the staff was friendly.
The food is overrated. Don't
Sat 30 minutes after reservation. Food was mediocre. Service was cheesy
