Gemini Ratings and Reviews
Overall, dining experience was really nice. The food was expensive and menu items were innovative, but out of 6 of us, there were only 2 of us that really loved what we got. Ambiance is really fun though. Dessert- ice cream sundae and an apple tart were definitely the highlights.
A burger and fries on a Saturday afternoon--pretty basic, huh? The burger was great, but the fries were cold and old, totally unappetizing, and ultimately left on the plate. Someone needs to pay attention here! This place could be so great--the ambience, the location, the staff are all spot-on. But serving up fries just sitting around, not cooked to order, is pretty bad.
My wife and I will try Gemini again, I guess---it should be so great--but we won't invite friends until we see that the kitchen can pull itself together.
We had a delicious dinner and wonderful experience! I was always a fan of the old version of Gemini, but this re-done version is even better!
From appetizers and cocktails to dessert, every item served was as promised and just delicious! The service was perfect, and was very attentive.
Everyone was friendly and seemed very happy to present such great food and drinks!
I can’t wait to go back!!
We met visiting family friends here last Saturday night - parents and adult children for both our families - what a terrific time! We were a group of 7 seated in a large horseshoe booth that kept the conversation audible and everyone involved. All the food was great - chicken tinga nachos and lamb meatballs for starters, steak frites, the lamb special, short rib, snapper for the mains, and a variety of desserts for the table. Our waiter was exceptional - warm and helpful without being intrusive. Best, although we had an early booking (6:30 on a busy evening) there was no pressure to turn the table. The re-do of the restaurant is lovely and the place has a happy busy vibe without being "too much". Frankly, I can't think of a type of occasion when you wouldn't want to eat here. Well done, Gemini!
A warm and friendly place, driven by an neighborhood that love them. We were greeted warmly and sat expeditiously. The mezcal drinks flowed and mussels, steak, and frites filled our bellies... then off to a show at Lincoln Hall just down the street. Great Time! Thanks Cindy...!
We went to celebrate a birthday, and to see the restaurant for the first time since the renovation. We had a fantastic dinner, and loved the new interior. By the end of the meal, we were talking about who we’d like to bring with us next time we return. Well done!
Love Gemini! Great corner spot on Lincoln. I came here on a Monday night with my dad. I think it's a great spot to take your folks when they're in town. We started off with the Mini Barbacoa Empanadas--tiny, but delicious! My dad had the Lamb Shank that was on special. I had the G Burger with Brussels Sprouts. Both cooked to perfection!
I can't believe it's taken me 5 years to try it out! I'm definitely going back.
I love this place for an upscale-casual meal. The food is more sophisticated (and pricier) than your average Lakeview/Lincoln Park cafe, but the ambiance is inviting and the clientele ranges. We saw a group of 60+ couples to our left, and a table with young children to our right. The lamb meatballs were hands down the best part of our meal. My husband got the filet steak frites, which he said was great but not out of this world. I got the halibut special which was prepared perfectly. We both ended up getting dessert, which is rare for us. The apple tart and "magic shell" sundae hit the spot.
Great food and drinks. Little slow on the service and the noise in the restaurant made it hard to hear the specials. Plus, I'm pretty sure our waitress didn't hear one of our orders because it was not even close to what he ordered. Again, maybe the noise was an issue. But will go back - the food was great!
Great Near-North neighborhood American Bistro - very professional and friendly wait staff and hostess. Great bar scene and nice alfresco dining. Great cocktails and customer friendly wine list. Menu is not expansive, but what they do they do very well. There was a cool hipster vibe in the bar and the nightly specials were interesting and locally sourced. We will go back - be sure to reserve on the weekends!
Very disappointing. This restaurant used to be much better. With the renovation and new name ...well, now the prices are higher for the same food and the food is t nearly as good. The hamburger can't be cooked to the way you like it and it was awful. You can skip this restaurant.
