GEM Waterfront Restaurant & Terrace
Our main concern was about your receptionist. When we called day before to make the reservation, the girl answering the call said that everything is fully booked. Then we went online and very easily made the reservation there. When we came to restaurant we were very surprised- only in our area (inside on the left) 8 tables were available. We believe in whole restaurant we sow at least 15 free tables.
We think this receptionist is very harmful for your business, otherwise how could be considered her response that everything is booked with 15 free tables until 9 p.m.?
Your food is not expected as suppose to be. We compare it with Oazis restaurant, lamb chops and lula were not cooked and served as there.
Poor signage to find the restaurant, pulled into the gate got a parking pass no directions to the restaurant after 15 of driving in and out of the Condo till we found the restaurant.
The place list as a BRUNCH PLACE, We expected Breakfast they did not serve Brunch or breakfast so we opted for lunch which was ok at best we could have made a salad and chicken sandwich la at home for less then 170.00
With a 25.00 tip included for a waitress who served us then cleared our table after we eat !!! Not worth the money.
Poor signage to find the restaurant
We will not return to this restaurant or recommend this restaurant for Brunch or Lunch.
Teresa & Doug
Disappointed I had to ask for table cloth to be put on table. Waitress was inattentive for a Tuesday and not crazy busy. Was there for my husband birthday and there was no a knowledge of the occasion despite on reservation you are asked if it be was a special occasion. Not everything on menu was there Ie: ordered spinach and 30 minutes later was told there is no spinach.
Great food! Took a while to get our appetizer, but overall delicious.
The food was good. I think they are a little on the pricey side but the food was good so i guess it was worth what we paid
Our waitress had us waiting too long to get our checks, she wasn’t busy, then tried to lie saying she checked on us multiple times for our bill and said we no, which was also a lie. The manager was very nice giving us a very small discount.
The restaurant had a wonderful menu that satisfied everyone at our table. Our waitress had great suggestions for our big hearty eaters, the one who wanted something cold and light, something for spice, and plenty for fish eaters. The food was served overlooking the bay- it came out perfect temperature and at the right stages. Thank you for a memorable dinner at sunset. 💎
Started with no signage of restaurant amongst several condo buildings. Then long wait for valet to get car parked. Very disappointed in the service..took over 1 hour to get bread and appetizers. Sat outside and started to rain which they were unprepared for. Also a party with DJ and loud music inside which we had to suffer thru. Should have advised people with reservations about this event. Will not return.
Beautiful setting. Good food! Worth the time to find it!
The ambiance could be outstanding (beautiful location, waterfront), but the terrace, floor, tables, etc... etc... are embarassing!!! they could do a little GEM with no investment, just using a little bit of care and good taste!! a little flower, few umbrella to protect from the sun, and a little bit of soul!! The food was delicious, so it is really a pitty!!
All parts of the dinner were excellent
Menu on Open table was outdated, probably from last century.
Had a reservation for 6:30p here, showed up around 6:25p and no one seemed to know what to do with us. There wasn’t a host so after a few minutes, the bartender greeted us, asked if we had a reservation, I said yes and told him the time. He motioned for a server to come. The server asked us same question and said there weren’t any tables available, they were full outside. He was very nice about it but it was just odd. He set up a table for us outside (using a folding table they had stashed somewhere), put a table cloth on it, etc. We said we’d start with water while we looked over the menu and wine list. The water (and server) never arrived so we left. So weird.
Went to this particular place to experience the Georgian cuisine and was not allowed to order from that part of the menu. Ridiculous and highly disappointed. Never again!
Restaurant description doesn’t match the food they serve. This is not a seafood or American but a Georgian (former USSR republic) / Russian place. Overall food is not bad but had better in NY.
They had live performance that was very loud.
It was my first time in a Georgian restaurant.
The food was good. I’ve ordered a Georgian appetizer and, some kind of eggplant with nuts, since I’m not familiar with Georgian food, I didn’t like much. It’s totally different from the Italian eggplant. It’s a cold appetizer. Then I had a filet. The filet was seasoned in the Georgian way, it was good. The waiter was a nice guy.
They have live music - a lady singing Georgian music. It was nice too. The restaurant is on water, so the best time to get there is around 4:00pm to have a chance to watch the sunset. The place looks a little like a function room, not much of an ambiance...
Beautiful outside dining with intercoastal views.
Everything was delicious, especially fresh oysters, dolma, hachapuri.
We've been in this restaurant before and will be back again.
Amazing food the best octopus I ever tried in town, overall food was delicious, but the seafood was the best, I will definitely recommend this place 👌🏼
Birthday was nicely planned
We loved it!!
The first views were gorgeous, the service was excellent and the food was very good.
In general it was a very pleasant experience, we will surely return.
They don’t tell you gratuity is included. It’s on the first page bottom of menu in tiny tiny print. On the check it’s called sales charge. The servers don’t tell you either. They must get double tips all the time. Not nice
Very good service and the food was delicious. We sat outside and they were very helpful when we asked to switch tables. Hidden place, not easy to find but a very good option.
Beautiful decor. Lovely Hostess and waitress. Unfortunately they only had 2 choices for Vodka, neither were my choices. Singer was good , however, very very loud. Had to change tables. Were not alot of people when we first got there, so noise was too loud for us. Food was good. Ambience as lovely. Will definitely go back and try it again.
We ate outside which had a great view of the inter-coastal looking south towards South Beach. The tables could be spruced up a bit, more consistent with the quality of the inside dining design, incl. providing napkins and silverware. You had a choice to pick from the American continental menu or the regional Georgian menu. We went for the latter to try some new dishes and we were not disappointed at all. The baked bread with cheese inside and an egg on top (a staple in Georgia) was fresh and delicious, the sautéed eggplant was outstanding, and the rack of lamb on a 2 foot sword was one of the best lamp chops I've ever had. Besides the quality of the table setting, the only drawback was the service levels. The staff were extremely nice but overwhelmed and weren't staffed up for a full night of diners on a Thursday night. We will be back!
Had beautiful seafood tower, everything was very nice, will be back
We went to this place to celebrate my husband’s 50th Birthday and we totally had an Awesome experience
Super delicious food
I highly recommend it
Definitely will come back
The food was great and the view was spectacular. I would recommend.
Beautiful setting tucked behind Arlen House Condo overlooking Intracoastal waterway at Oleta Park.
The bar was closed so I told the waiter as he seated me "please send someone for a drink order." The gentleman sent did not know the bar drinks or anything about wine.
The drink was ordered and took several minutes to be delivered. The restaurant was not busy.
In my experience (and I am a blue collar guy), the price of food here was much higher than average...and the food was average quality.
For the $350 price on the dinner (for 2), you'd have thought they would let us eat in peace, relax, but the waiters kept coming over and asking about our progress. As 9 PM got closer, the visits became more frequent, interrupting the attempt at intimate conversation. Turns out they wanted to clear the table and go home. We were pretty much pushed/pressured to hurry our meal and leave.
I would only recommend with warnings that I described above.
A beautiful setting, wonderful food and attentive service. We had two fish servings which were cooked to perfection. A lovely evening and we look forward to returning. Gems is a hidden treasure in Sunny Isles.
This restaurant is tranquil and low key. It's a little hard to find as it was well hidden and located deep within an apartment residential community. There are also no visible signs that there is a restaurant. When entering the restaurant, you can see that it also doubles as an event space, the main seating is on the terrace outside. The view is spectacular, and there is a nice flow of air. The menu is small and pricey, but the portions did not disappoint, and neither did the taste. The food was very, very fresh, flavorful, and well presented. The food is on par with many high-end and exclusive restaurants in Miami and even better than some I have had. It's a place you go for the food and the view. Perfect for those looking for a secluded and uncongested restaurant.
Wonderful atmosphere, excellent service. The food and drinks were great. Outdoor seating had a beautiful view of the bay with a relaxed and quiet atmosphere. Can not wait to go back.
Good Food, Fresh. The view was excellent and the ambience was very good. Service was the best. Very attentive.
The deconstructed Apple pie was excellent!
Everyone enjoyed their meals
We had the whole sea bass, lamb chops and filet. They were all cooked perfectly as ordered , very quite with great views. Plus they were dog friendly on the outdoor patio
The food and service was excellent. I am super surprised as to why only 2 tables were dining on a Saturday night. I recommend you go to this restaurant. We had the mussels , crab salad, and the two shrimp pasta dishes. I’ll be coming back!
I love every thing about Gem
Great food, beautiful water view, quieter outside than inside. Service was also good.
Horrible place run do not go here
The view was beautiful the food was very good. I very much enjoyed everything I ate (branzino, truffle Buratta salad, calamari, hummus/pita, sautéd spinach). Appreciated that they had a vegetarian/vegan menu. Would have liked them to have had a cocktail menu or drink menu but the drinks that we did have were good. Service was a little slow but maybe it was an off night. Everyone was very nice though.
Exceptional service and delicious food. A definite date night must.
Saturday night and nobody in the restaurant was a bad sign from the start. It’s run down old fashioned and yes on the water. The food was not bad pretty average our waiter however was very nice. Give the place a miss there are so many fabulous places to eat in Bal Harbor this isn’t one of them.
