The usual awesome service and food at a great value. Packed on a Sunday night. Michael was outstanding, attentive to every need. Love this place!
We have been coming here a lot lately. Wish they were open for lunch though, as we prefer to eat heavier earlier in the day.
I've been told by friends to try Geja's so finally we did Saturday night. As much as I appreciate a quiet setting with mood lighting and privacy, its just a little too dark in there. We, and noticed other couples as well, strained our eyes to see the menu. The tables were very small for the amount of things that are placed on it. The first course is a cheese fondue with breads and fruit. The 2nd course (main) are the meats, seafood and vegetable: now we know why the 1st course is so bread intensive. It's to fill you up so that you don't notice your tiny portions in the main course (2 pieces of shrimp, 3 cubes of chicken, and 3 cubes of steak, the rest is vegetables). The cooking 2nd course pot had soy oil...and nothing else. It splattered as it increased in temperature. By the time the 3rd (dessert) course came, we were ready to go. We ate half and paid the bill. The service was absolutely Perfect. Micheal, our server was great, but if you are looking for Fondue, find a Melting Pot.
I have amazing experience at Gejas cafe....the atmosphere was great and very delicious quality food...the assistance stuff was helpful and very friendly and full of attention .....I love, love this place...warmly recommended for the romantic dinner 👍😊
When I made the reservation months ago I told them it was for our 50th anniversary. When we arrived we were taken to a tiny table in a corner where the chairs barely fit. Not much of a welcome for the occasion.
Anniversary dinner. Very nice!
Very Good Food. The service was very good, not rushed. The wine list is very good. It is a bit crowded, with the tables very close together, but that does not seem to interfere with the sense of intimacy which you get at your table. Sharing the fondue pots probably helps in that regard. I was not surprised to see a 20% tip included with my bill, as we were a larger party. I was VERY disappointed to see that the 20% tip was calculated including the wine bill. That is UNACCEPTABLE, and I will not return until I hear they have changed their policy. This restaurant is not inexpensive, nor is the wine list. I so expect to tip for waitstaff; I do not tip 20% for drinks or wine. Because the price of wine varies so widely, a reputable restaurant will not add an automatic tip to the cost of alcohol on the bill.
I was fortunate to get reservations last minute on Saint Patrick's Day. I love fondue and their authentic menu was a real treat when visiting Chicago for my first time. The selection was plenty and the staff was extremely friendly. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a great culinary fondue experience to eat at Geja's Café.
In my opinion, the server should explain the veggies available and we should have had a choice of which ones we wanted
It was amazing!
I came here for date night and couldn't have been happier. The ambiance is truly one of a kind. A bit on the pricier side, but it's worth it if you want to impress and have a good conversation with someone without being bombarded by noise and other conversation around you.
Love the fondue experience. Went there with my grown sons (not a date!) and still enjoyed it greatly.
Definitely one of my favorite restaurants! Love coming here for special occasions!
Love the ambiance here but you do always leave smelling like you've been standing next to a fryer all night
Five of us went to celebrate a birthday. Even with advanced reservations, we were squished in a booth (best designed for 2 or 4?), which made it difficult to enjoy the action involved in prepping the food. That is the fun part of fondue! The meals are served with a variety of delicious sauces that are served in PLASTIC CUPS. The food was presented on a single platter and it was VERY DIFFICULT to tell what belonged to what person. I would have loved the traditional fondue plates with compartments for sauces and prepped food in the center. At $57 an entree, you would think the steak would be some nice size chunks - but many were less that one inch and maybe 4 oz. Four of us had the steak and lobster and it was maybe two bites of lobster each. It has been years since I went to Geja's -- the ambiance is still beautiful but I think its not a very good value or very high quality for that price.
The best date spot if you like fondue. There are always good deals you can find online via groupon or through signing up to receive their emails otherwise it can be spendy. Well worth taking that someone special there for a different and delicious experience.
Terrific as always. My wife and I love to pop in here from time to time and feel like we are at a neighborhood gem. All the fondues are great and the ambiance has always been a favorite of ours.
Amazing!!!! Perfect place to WOW your date!!! Makes you feel like your in a whole new romantic world.
Great food in a romantic atmosphere
We went to dinner for Husband's birthday. It was an Amazing experience, completely worth it!
Amazing as always. I have been here many times and have never been disappointed.
Great romantic cozy place
Great service best romantic spot in Chicago.
Gejas is an intimate and unique restaurant that has a wonderful atmosphere. The service and food are both excellent and it is a nice change of pace with the fondue meal.
The live Spanish guitar music was one of my favorite parts of our experience. The food is excellent, the wait staff knowledgeable and the wine list is very decent. Best fondue restaurant, hands-down.
Absolutely loved this place! It was something different for a romantic date night. Our service was great from the Valet to our amazing waitress. We are looking forward to coming back!
Wonderful place for a romantic dining experience to celebrate a special occasion.
Love this place. Not sure why it took me so long to bring my wife here. Definitely date night material for married couples and a great way to impress anyone you are courting.
Been here several times. Absolutely love the food and atmosphere.
Great portion of your food for the money. Husband and I would have opted to pay the $12 “sharing fee” for one entree had we known how large the portions would be and that sharing would have been acceptable. Made reservation two weeks in advance for birthday and ended up getting sat at an aisle table, which was very tight very the customers (very little range of motion for grabbing, cutting, and eating food) and for the servers, who kept on having to squeeze between tables, chairs, and pillars and kept on grazing tables, chairs, legs, and shoes — not their fault...management should take away some tables to create a safer and more comfortable environment for customers and employees alike.
Came in to celebrate a friend's 51 birthday with 3 couples. All of us dine frequently here. Our waiter, Michael, was outstanding! He was fun, tolerated our foibles, and really made the meal special. He kept the food and drink coming at a reasonable pace, and we had a great night. Always recommend Gejas and now recommending Michael as well.
An awesome dinning experience as always
Our team capped off the night with the dessert chocolate fondue and a drink by the fire pit! Awesome experience!8
Great service. Great experience. I’d love to go again!
My husband and I consider Geja's our favorite place for anniversary dinner!! Our two teenage boys love it too, though, which is sort of rare they agree on something between themselves and with parents!!! The only high-end restaurant they want to go on special occasions and they will smile and behave they whole time :). Highly recommend!!
Thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience. However, due to average cost of $60 per person, not even including the cost to check your coat, park and tip, it would be cost prohibitive to return. Individual portion size of food comparable to ordering a stir fry. Expect a Large portion of veggies, with approximately an 8 oz portion in combined total of all meats of choice, whether chicken, beef tenderloin, or shrimp. The only impression to be had upon receiving the tray of food is questioning whether the meats come with a refill. They don't. The meats quality was good however. If you are able to move on from the sticker shock, the cooking and eating experience with the skewers part was tons of fun. There are a vairiety of 8 different sauces provided, so if you plan ahead what sauce with meat and veg you cook, you can make yourself a variety of perfect bites of all different kinds. If I won a raffle and got a gift certificate to eat for free, I would have enjoyed it 1,0000%. Unfortunately, it wasn't and I'm a one hit wonder, p.s. hard to justify a $300 night out for 4. I paid less for a trip to Las Vegas!
This retaurant has a nice environment, however the service is terrible. We waved at our waiter several times and he ignored us, plus the attitude didn't help at all. The food is overpriced and is nothing wow.
My husband & I had our first date here 22 yrs ago...we loved it! After being married all these years that has been the most memorable romantic moment shared. Going back in time it seems in getting engaged I more remember a ' let's get married' type proposal than a much wanted traditional one. Lately reminiscing & being in that romantic state of mind I requested this year to go back to Geja's Cafe but with a down on your knee type new proposal from my husband Joe. He made that wish come true with a hesrtfelt sweet proposal and put a new diamond ring on it!
