Geja's Café Ratings and Reviews
Food and was amazing as always. The only thing I didn't like was that we were seated in the front of the restaurant in front where the only bright white light is present. Ruined the atmosphere a bit because you weren't in this dimly lit cozy booth anymore. Other than that, it's fantastic. Just the one table under one bad light sucks.
Ambiance is great. Portions are ridiculously small. For what we paid for a dinner for 2, we could've gone to a nice steak house and had 2-3x the amount of food that we got at Gejas. The cheese and chocolate fondue were great though. If we ever come back, it'll only be for dessert.
My Fiance and I went here for an early Valentine's Day dinner, and it. Was. Amazing. I have been to a few fondue places, prior to this Der Fondue Chessel was my favorite, but the cozy and romantic environment at Gejas, accented by the live guitar is unparalleled. We sat right next to the guitarist, and it wasn't loud.I only rated the noise level as moderate because of that. We were both still able to hear one another with indoor voices.
The value you get from their prix fixe menu is incredible. Salad, cheese fondue, meat fondue and chocolate fondue.
The cheese fondue was spectacular and enough to fill me up so I was stuffed through the three courses, but not too much that I didn't enjoy every last bit.
The meat fondue was presented well. The meats were well cut and the seafood delicious (obviously depending on how you cook it yourself). There are 8 all which compliment different meats or combinations of vegetables and protein.
The chocolate fondue was my favorite. The chocolate itself was a rich, deep chocolate flavor with a slight cherry liquor. The liquor is burned off after ignition to create the flaming effect for roasting marshmallows.
First time visiting this restaurant. Waiter failed to mention the food wasnt cooked prior to coming to the table. We were unaware that we had to eat portions separately due to the meats having to be cooked in a small cooker. Very pricely for uncooked food... we did all of the work, plus small portions, small crowded setting, & food unseasoned. Will not be returning.
For their reputation of having ‘the best cheese fondue in Chicago’, their cheese fondue was seriously lacking. It tasted like powder and as someone who lived in Switzerland for 3 years, can attest that even some grocery store fondue is more authentic tasting. If you have no expectations for quality and authentic fondue, then it is a cool place to hang out and maybe try but if you at all have any selectivity about Fondue then don’t order it here. The chocolate fondue was fun to eat and was good but wasn’t spectacular. They were, however, accommodating when we sent the cheese fondue back. The service was very good and attentive and the atmosphere was nice and romantic with cool low lighting and live guitar.
Fun fondue place. The wait staff was fantastic. This was our first time to a fondue place and the staff was very helpful and pointing out how to order and how to cook our food. The lighting's a little dim but that adds to the ambiance. The food was good the meat could have been seasoned a little bit more. A great place for a good romantic dinner.
Everything was fabulous my only comment is at the end when they bring the dessert I wasn’t reminded about avoiding the utensil you use to dip the fruit into the chocolate. As a result, I forgot and burned the side of my mouth. No one‘s fault really but it would be helpful if they could remind you twice so you don’t forget! By the time I realized what I did I was burned. 🤥
Best date place in the city by far. Split the Prince Geja's (combination of everything) and the seafood option, all incredible. We utilized the restaurant week deal (~$13 off each entree) and will probably make it an annual date for the occasion. With that and Valentine's Day, can't beat Geja's in February.
I love this place! Everything is just amazing. The cheese fondu with grapes, bread and apples- 5 stars, the chicken and tenderloin with the sauces - 5 stars, the chocolate fondu with all the goodies- 5 stars! The ambiance- 5 stars! 💕 no complaints, we just love it here.
Geja's Cafe was such an ideal place for a dinner date. We made reservations the previous date and were seated right away. Our server was kind, friendly and humorous. He made the experience very enjoyable. I highly recommend this place for anyone trying to enjoy fondue. Dessert was the best!
Love, love, LOVE Gejas! Our waiter was spectacular! Food was delicious and the music was splendid.
My friends first time and they were raving about it. We were celebrating a birthday,
our sweet waiter brought over a slice of cake and candle! We stayed hours and never felt rushed.
Well done, Gejas!!!
Celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary here while visiting from out of town and this was a wonderful choice. Romantic atmosphere...candlelight, soft romantic live acoustic guitar, wonderful food and attentive service. Worth every cent for a special evening.
