Mediocre fondue place with no real identity. Arab prince name for a Spanish themed decor and ambiance, serving Alpine fondue (cheese) and Burgundy fondue (oil fondue)...
Way too expensive for what is served. Kind of a tourist trap.
Lovely little spot in a great location, downtown. Perfect for a nice date, or a casual get together. The food was fantastic, and the service was exceptional. It feels a little crowded, but that’s something you can easily look past considering how wonderful everything else about the place is.
The restaurant provides a unique way to cook and eat food. A standard four-course meal contains pleasant surprises at each step. The only drawdown is that the clothing smells a bit after a visit. Overall, a good place for a romantic or family meal.
It was an interesting experience. Kind of pricey. Since the meats don’t have any seasoning/marinade, I expected a little more from the dipping sauces - most just tasted like bottled sweet and sour, bbq, teriyaki, etc. Our waitress Sarah was really welcoming and helpful. If I were to ever return, I probably wouldn’t get any of the meat entrees and stick to the cheeses and the desserts.
Wonderful service, wonderful environment, only thing that I think would be better would be if there were some recommendations of what meats and veggies to pair with which sauces. Overall, great night, and very romantic for my girlfriend and me!
Birthday celebration -we loved the experience
Had a great time celebrating an anniversary and marriage proposal. Food was great, enjoyed EVERYTHING! Some of our servers had accents that was at times a little confusing but was not worthy of a complaint, just information for the review.
I have been to Geja's Cafe many times in the past and the food, ambiance and service has been superb. It was not so this time around. The waiter was presumptuous and did not listen to our requests. He had a way that he wanted our dinner to go and decided that anything that did not match what wanted to do would be ignored. When our dinner did not meet our expectations, he explained that he didn't normally do things as we asked. Seating a table of 5 in the space that we occupied, did not work out. We often had to move or get up to accommodate the waitstaff and guitar player in the course of trying to enjoy our meal. The food was adequate but they have been due to our waiter not providing sufficient heating pots.
Very romantic. Service is exquisite. Not a fan of the oil used for the fondue. But still taste amazing
Most wonderful romantic restaurant. Fixed price fondue excellent. Great service, great ambiance, wonderful wine list. One of our all time favorites!
Three food was fresh and excellent. The service would have been great, if our waiter had checked back to see about refilling beverages. The guitar player was perfect.!!!
Always a classic, especially for a romantic dinner or special occasion, the food and the service were again outstanding.
Excellent value, especially if your on their email list and get the coupons. Very romantic and unique decor. Hidden Gem!
I have been going to Geja’s for over 25 years. I love it more every time I go!! This time we went with our parents who have been going there for almost 47 years!!
It’s an experience I treasure with friends and family!
Took my hubby for his birthday we was caught in traffic they called and still held our table for us. It was our first time having fondue. It was delicious and beyond beautiful. The magnolia was hummy not to strong or weak perfect. We really enjoyed our evening and can't wait to go back.
Very loud. Celebrating anniversary. Waiter not very attentive. Never asked if we wanted another round of drinks. Will NEVER go back. Not worth what we paid
This was our second time at Gejas and we loved it. It is very romantic and the fondue is a fun experience.
My husband and I were celebrating our 19th year Anniversary. The service was excellent! The food was exceptionally delicious! Everything was perfect! I highly recommend Geja’s Cafe!
This is one of our favorite restaurAnts in chicsgi
We love this place! Our service is always outstanding and the food never disappoints!!
For two people and three drinks in total, the cost was $200. Value was not there.
We loved our experience here. The service was great, we didn’t feel rushed, and the server was attentive. The food was delicious. We did the entire experience with the cheese fondu first and ending with the chocolate fondu for desert. Highly recommend it. The steak and seafood were also amazing and easy to cook in the fondu pot. The vibe is very romantic so it’s a great date stop/ special occasion spot.
Pros - EXCELLENT service!!! Even the Valet! Fun experience cooking. The food was wonderful.....and very FRESH!!!
Cons - a little pricey, felt a little squeezed in (seems that they’re always busy - a good thing for them of course), and wasn’t as quiet as I expected.
**be careful when cooking the food for sanitary purposes; all the raw items are together on a small tray.
**BYOB (wine only) is $25 corkage. Will just try their wines next time.
Gejas has always been our favorite restaurant in Chicago. They are the best year after year.
Great place for a date! Extremely romantic and fun!
I absolutely love the place. The ambiance was perfect and it was the first time we had ever been. The food was delicious and the servers were very attentive. I will definitely be back and recommend all couples looking a romantic dinner to go here.
I recommend this place for a romantic date due to the ambiance and pace of the meal, a very different and worthwhile dining experience than "Melting Pot". But be warned that the portions for the price can be off-putting
Definitely one of my favorite places. Excellent service. However the hostess seemed a lil overwhelmed. But overall was a Wonderful experience. The outdoor fireplace tables are great for the warm weather.
Great food, excellent service!
Really fun place, especially if you're looking for a unique date idea. We had a lot of fun - if the price were about 20-30% lower it'd be a much better option, but it was so much fun! Worth it at ~$150 for 2 people 1 drink - an would be extraordinary if it were $100.
Tip to make it better: Bring a stop-watch (seriously) for the cooking times
Romantic of course, atmospheric for sure. The cozy, intimate experience was more than I had expected, and was pleasantly surprised. The selection of sauces that paired with my main course was adventurous and allowed an opportunity to try new combinations of things. I definitely would love to come back and experience it again.
We love gejas! We go every year for anniversary. Swore they had complimentary valet but its $12..yikes! We will be back again tho
Celebrating our Anniversary... the focus on detail on our special date was beyond what I expected! We were greeted w a ‘Happy Anniversary thank you for celebrating with us.’ and had an Anniversary card waiting at our table. The service was great, the food amazing, and the ambiance was perfectly romantic. Have been before and will come again!
Michael is a great server!
Went for our first anniversary and they gave us a welcome glass of champagne and a card was waiting for us at our table! Horacio was our server and he did an AMAZING job at explaining the menu and our options as well as recommendations. Trevor (the manager) introduced himself and also gave us recommendations for food and wine to make our evening special. He was extremely personable and made you feel very welcome throughout the night. Food was great, portions were plenty and WOW the dessert! Will surely visit again!
Such a fun place and romantic to boot! Fun to make your dinner together too!
A unique experience. A special occasion place. Very expensive. Lots of good food. Super nice waitress. Love the fire pit outdoors.
I dine here often what I like best is the consistency of the menu and quality. The atmosphere is peaceful and so unique. Love it!
Great place to connect with close friends and family members!!!
