The hostess was not pleasant but our waitress was fantastic and very sweet. The food was good and sitting in the patio was
Nice anniversary dinner
Great service and wonderful food! We’ll be back!
We ended up having to sit outside despite the reservation. Geist is a nice place so you'd expect the outdoor area to be pleasant, but it was NOT. I've never sweated so much at dinner. When you're paying that much, you'd like it to be pleasant and this was absolutely in no way pleasant. And probably because of that, service wasn't as good as I'd expect either and when you're sweating like that, you really gotta replenish those fluids! The food was good, drinks were good, but I couldn't appreciate any of it because it was miserable and you never want to be miserable when eating a $40 entree. Just not worth it.
Food was excellent. Service very slow but waitstaff all very friendly.
Service and food were amazing! They also allow you to do a champagne saber, which we did as we were there for a Bachelorette celebration, which was so fun and festive for the occasion! Outside courtyard where we sat is gorgeous, the inside was also beautiful as well! Made for a special dinner while visiting Nashville!
Burger was great, Bloody Mary drink Not so great.
Good Morning drink on point. Now reservation was at 11:30 we didn't get seated till 11:52 . Then sat for another 10 mins till a waiter brought us water . We know there was folks there but we had a reservation.Besides that food was good.
We went for brunch, had reservations. We still waited 20 minutes for our table. The food was great, drinks were great, I do think it was overpriced for what it was but I would go back.
We would try again, did love the ambiance and menu options. Our server was just not the best so I think that could have tainted our experience more than warranted.
Ask for Lindsay at the bar, she’s great
We had a fantastic time. My filet was over cooked just a touch. The wife’s halibut was a ten out of ten.
Geist is vibey and attractive, the people are good at their jobs, and the food is adequate and overpriced, given its quality. Don't get me wrong, the ingredients are good, the presentation is what you would expect for the price point, but the flavor isn't what it could be. My wife and I had an entrée each, with bread and a beet salad (the beet salad was the only truly delicious item we had all night - it is really great), plus dessert and two drinks apiece. Bill with 20% tip was $220ish. Not outrageous, but there are many restaurants in town where the food is outstanding at that price.
Geist seems like a great place for drinks, and maybe their brunch is better. I would go back, but I wouldn't go out of my way to do so.
Restaurant was very overpriced for the experience.
The starter was very nice, possibly very good. Main dishes were just ok - nothing special. For $30 per entree I was expecting more attention to detail and something more than average to slight above average food.
My biggest gripe as the pretty amateur level of service. For the price point I would expect far superior service.
The wait staff was very pleasant but sorely in need of training.
You must have the cinnamon roll, heavenly! Eggs Benedict was made to perfection.
Excellent brunch choice.
Bring your own yellow mustard
We loved it! Our server Michael was great and the drinks were amazing!
fried green tomatoes and halibut were excellent. Scallops were very good. We'll go back
The hostess was not very welcoming, unprofessional, slightly rude and awkward. I had two of the guests come later then the rest of the party and the waiter never once bothered to offer them a drink menu.
I would still recommend Geist to a friend, however; I would definitely recommend visiting for dinner as opposed to brunch, which was my experience.
Service did not meet expectations. Was seated at the table for 10-15 minutes before someone even came over to bring waters. Food wasn’t cooked properly and some orders were brought so late that the rest of group had already finished eating.
We had the most wonderful experience last night at Geist! Since the pandemic, the food industry has obviously been impacted, but time and time again, my husband and I have left a restaurant, paying over $100 for dinner, only to feel incredibly frustrated and extremely disappointed in both quality of service and food received.
We started with the tuna crudo- Delicious!- and ordered the halibut and filet for our entrees. It was the best halibut I have ever eaten and the sweet corn risotto with tomato vinaigrette complimented it beautifully! We finished with the flourless chocolate cake topped with peanut butter mousse, which was sinfully delicious but worth every bite. Our server had his hands full because it was a full house, but did a remarkable job taking care of us! Thank you Geist for a wonderful experience and we look forward to dining at your establishment again, as well as sharing our recommendation with others!
Very cool building and decor. Tables were all very close together inside which makes it awkward for date nights in my opinion. Food was good but not great, especially considering the price point. Great spot to grab drinks before heading somewhere else.
It was a lovely way to start off our weekend in Nashville
Great food and atmosphere. Will definitely be going back in the future.
Had brunch there. Was our first time. We all enjoyed what we ordered and the servings are generous. We especially loved sitting on the outside patio. What wonderful ambiance! We definitely plan to go back again!!
Stumbled upon Geist in Open Table and made a brunch reservation. We were seated outside, basically out by the parking lot so I can’t comment too much on the ambience because we weren’t actually IN the restaurant. I am guessing we were given this table after they saw we had two children with us. It was a bit disappointing. The service was ok, nothing to write home about but no issues. The food was excellent. My husband and I shared the Chilaquiles and they were delicious. The flavor reminded me a of a lovely slow cooked short rib recipe that I’ve made. We also shared the banana bread French toast. It was yummy. Just the perfect amount of sweetness and a lovely dense banana bread texture. I would definitely recommend this place and would return but I would hope we wouldn’t be placed at a table they just found a corner for next to the parking lot.
For the service we received, I would not expect to be paying $30+ for an entree.
My partner and I were celebrating our engagement, and we really wish we had picked somewhere else to do so.
We were “greeted” by an unapologetic hostess on her phone and had to wait 20 minutes past our reservation time for a table for 2. (A party of 5 told us that they had waited more than 40 minutes past their reservation.)
Our waiter made us feel rushed to order because the kitchen was “backed up,” evidently a chronic issue. At the same time, we watched him and the manager take shots with the table next to ours.
The food was the silver lining on an otherwise poor experience. We will not be returning nor recommending Geist to anyone who visits.
We celebrated a 40th birthday at Geist. Everything was absolutely amazing! I am vegan and gluten free, our server said the chef would create something to accommodate. That was such a fantastic experience, what was made for me was delicious. Our party of 6 is still raving about our time at Geist.
Love the Geist! Brunch is fantastic. Sitting in the champagne garden is the best vibe! Looking forward to returning for dinner.
Great conference dinner
Apps came the it took a lot longer for entree but still a great night
Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Love the interior and the food and service matched the vibe. Nothing bad to say about this restaurant.
Hipster atmosphere & attitude with great kitchen to back it up
Great location and vibe. The server was excellent. The food was mediocre.
We were there for a very sad occasion. Marking the death of our baby boy. Our waiter from South Africa (Eric?) was an attentive and thoughtful host during our dinner. The food and drinks were excellent (I had the halibut and we shared an antipasti plate). We were grateful to be handled with such care and service during such a painful time. We will be back and Geist will hold a special place in our hearts because of this evening.
$40 to park(no available dedicated parking or valet offered)
Halibut was very dry. Brussels sprouts were dry too.
Tito’s Vodka martini with olives nicely executed. 4 Roses Old Fashioned was average.
The ambiance and vibe save this place. Service was solid too.
The food and ambiance were amazing!
Visiting Nashville from San Francisco, CA for week for 4th of July and birthday celebration. Super cute place however sat down and waited for 15 minutes as other people say after us got service. They didn’t even bring us water. Finally a lovely server helped us out. Food was blah. OJ was great and I had glass of rose bubbles it was ok. Definitely a local group place for brunch or to celebrate.
Incredible food, drinks and atmosphere! We will be back with friends and request Joelle :)
