   As locals we are always looking for new dinner options so after reading about Geist we decided to give it a try. This was one of the best meals we have had in Nashville! We shared a few small plates but the bread and the beet salad were favorites . We had the gnocchi with lamb ragu and the nightly special which was the most tender flavorful ribeye . Service was attentive and the food was outstanding. Perfect setting as it was quiet enough to talk at the table but not overhear other tables. Beautiful restaurant that deserves the 5 stars

   The food was good but my husband got a hash with basically two pieces of meat in it and all potatoes. It was very pricey (but what isn’t these days). The most disappointing thing was we brought our 18 month old and they didn’t have any high chairs… buy some high chairs Geist it’s 2022 and parents want to go to brunch too.

   Geist is an all-around winner and my next trip to Nashville I’ll be reserving for dinner here. The staff took my food allergy seriously, menu is superb, as is the service. The building/rooms are historical and cozy.

    Had a great evening at Geist. Cocktails were delicious. We had the fried green tomatoes and whipped feta appetizers. Our group of 4 had 3 different entrees - the black cod, the monkfish in mole’ sauce, and the duck. All were excellent. We had 2 of the desserts and they were excellent too. Nice ambiance. Service was excellent.

    Unfortunately, when I made the reservation, I was unaware of the inside dining room (which was full) and the "outside" dining area which looked more consistent with a tavern / bar food setup. There were two open flame (non-vented rather) propane burners with that not so appetizing smell of said propane. The area was stuffy and not acceptable for the food's price-point. Now the food. Good but the portions were tiny. I mean really small. I've seen this trend (albeit, not been out much in recent years due to COVID) in smaller and smaller fish portions (maybe 4 oz?) At 38 bucks for Monkfish, the dish looked laughable. My wife ordered a beef dish which was far hardier in the amount of beef and sides. My son had risotto and, as cheap as those ingredients are, his dish was - small (not quite tiny). Lastly, his girlfriend had the black cod which was, dare I say, tiny again. I would happily pay at hefty price for a meal which would leave me satisfied but not stuffed. Happily. But Geist just did not deliver that experience the evening we dined. Don't think we will return (hopefully this was a one off evening and you will fare far better).

    yay for places that take Brunch reservations so you don’t have to wait for hours to get brekkie on weekends! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal: we started with the cinnamon bun, whipped feta, continued on to avocado toast (outstanding) and a beautiful beet salad which was truly the most refreshing salad I didn’t realize my body needed until I tasted it. Breakfast sandwiches featured bacon and eggs cooked to perfection. Shashuka and the pork belly dish, as well as cocktails were also great. Our waitstaff were so kind obliging seating requests, and making the experience relaxing and honestly just treated us really well!

    Definitely not my best experience. Black cod was not able fish like expected. Portions were small. Drinks always excellent

    I booked this brunch reservation for my girlfriends birthday, and sadly, the food was really low quality The buns on our breakfast sandwich looked like some had a leftover loaf from McDonald’s laying around. The contents were small and meager. We left hungry, no joke. We both agreed paying $30 to First-watch instead of the 66$ we spent at Geist would have been substantially better. Sorry to be direct but figure the feedback is needed to improve.

    We loved Geist. Great food and outstanding service in a beautiful atmosphere. Menu was unique and fresh and portions were large. Highly recommend Geist and bravo to your bartender and server.

    Geist was absolutely beautiful. Food was amazing and so was the atmosphere. We dined on a thursday for my 22nd birthday and there was barely anyone there. It was quite quiet and intimate. Our waiter was super nice as well. Will return.

    Spot was beautiful, we got there right when they opened so vibe was not happening and they seemed "put off" that we were there then, despite a reservation. Chef was not very accomodationg to a dairy allergy, service was okay.

Looking back at your table's order and after speaking with some staff that took care of you it looks like we were very accommodating of the dairy allergy that was at your table.     Geist has been one of my favorite places in Nashville until recently. I came here with friends in NYE for their $85 prix fixe menu. The service was terrible. We had to order everything all at once for each course which was fine but then we waited over an hour for appetizers. We ended up being here for 3 hours total which is insane for just dinner. There were two upcharged choices for entrees (3 others with no upcharge). The steak was an entree that was a $45 upcharge and it was good, but not worth the additional cost. The risotto was also a $30 upcharge and came cold and a super small portion. I was able to finish my entire entree which is normally not the case with this restaurant when getting appetizers. The part that really kind of annoyed us was when we received our bill at the end of the night. Because dinner took so long and it's NYE, we ordered a lot of drinks, and there was an automatic 21% gratuity added on, plus 2.5% for "kitchen love". We were only a party of 4, and there was no warning about the automatic 23.5% gratuity when booking the reservation, so we all found this sort of tacky. Normally, this is around 15-18% if it’s automatically added. Overall, the service was not what I've experienced in the past, the food was just okay, and the automatic 23.5% gratuity charges really put it over the top. I don't know if I'll ever come back here which is really sad because this was one of my favorite spots before this experience.

That said, I do believe that the question I asked you was completely reasonable. I was not rude, mean, or vulgar. You said that Geist was your favorite restaurant "until recently." So I looked, and you have never left us a review. I think its pretty reasonable to simply ask why, if you loved Geist so much, have you never reviewed us until now?     We spent NYE at Geist. The preset menu was fantastic! My only mild complaint is that parking was crazy so an option for valet would have made the experience better.

    Great experience, ambience, and fantastic food and service. The only negative was the 21% automatic gratuity charge. We most likely would have given more to our lovely waitress but the auto charge decided for us. That was a disappointment to an otherwise wonderful experience.

    Great Chef's menu for New Year's Eve. It was our anniversary and it was the perfect dinner to celebrate. From the oysters to the chocolate tahini cake, everything was delicious. They spaced out the guests so that you didn't feel people were sitting on top of each other and you could carry on a conversation without having to yell at each other which is hard to find on a busy night. We have been here several times and have never been disappointed in the food or the service. Will definitely be back again.
