   Returned to this restaurant after many years and it was a shadow of its former self. The atmosphere had completely changed. It’s seemed more bland and without the beautiful greenery that was once inside. The staff seemed as though they were going through the motions. The food was bland. Really miss the old Gees.

   My friend and I enjoyed a very good dinner in this atmospheric glasshouse. The service was very friendly and attentive. The noise level was high so maybe not so good for anyone with hearing difficulties but for us the buzz added to the enjoyment and meant we were not overheard by neighbouring tables. Would definitely recommend.

   Lovely place, maybe a little bit too crowded! Their braised octopus was amazing as well as their parmigiana! The crema catalana could be improved,it wasn’t hot enough

   For various reasons we haven’t visited Oxford recently and it was a joy to return, not least for the pleasure of visiting Gees again, which only ever gets better.

   Food good, especially lemon soufflé. House red wine was good. Gravy served separately in a small jug was how it should be, especially for diabetic diners. Service charge at 13 1/2% was excessive, especially as food charges were at top levels for their quality and selection. For that rate I expect linen serviettes and a tablecloth instead of paper and bare wood. Robin the waiter was really attentive and performed well. I liked he noticed our glass of ice needed topping up without him being asked.
