About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions

  • Neighborhood gem
Gees Restaurant & Bar is an independently-owned, restaurant, bar, and terrace set within North Oxford’s famous Grade II listed Victorian conservatory, once home to the Gee family’s greengrocers and floristry, just a ten-minute walk from Oxford’s city centre.

Enjoyed by locals and visitors alike for the past four decades, Gees serves a distinctly Mediterranean-inspired menu using the best seasonal ingredients, simply prepared and expertly cooked by head chef Lee Parsons, featuring regional dishes of Spain, Portugal and Italy.

The private dining space, Gees Gallery, upholds an authentic and organic feel, with bare stone walls, oak panelling and a flash of rich green marble, featuring its own private bar, entrance and art collection. Gees' Secret Garden provides an enchanting al fresco setting for delectable dishes and chic cocktails.

Free parking for two hours is available just a short walk away on Canterbury Road and Bevington Road.

All absolutely lovely - super waitresses. Acoustics made it a bit difficult to hear in the conservatory. Otherwise perfect evening.

Service and ambiance was great, and they catered well to our one gluten intolerant diner with a good selection of dishes.

Beautiful venue in the large conservatory. The staff were lovely and helpful and the food was excellent. We'd very happily go again next time we're in Oxford. They made a good effort to accommodate my wife's food intolerance, but dessert options were very limited.

I booked a table for eight people, my partner and I were the last to arrive, albeit before the reservation time, our other guests were being looked after in the sunny garden. We were given plenty of time to agree on what we should choose and the food and ambience were great and even though we were the only people in the restaurant at 4.00 pm the service was still attentive but not intrusive.

Outstanding service, both friendly and prompt. Eg our waitress - we think her name was Evelina? - refilled our water carafe before being asked. Overall a lovely anniversary evening and thanks for the fizz!

Went for our daughter's birthday, on early Saturday evening. It was initially quiet but soon picked up. Food was excellent, and generous portions. They had registered our daughter's birthday, and had a treat for her, so well done and thanks!

Great food and nice staff, but too noisy. They could work on the acoustics of the restaurant…
