Gees Restaurant & Bar is an independently-owned, restaurant, bar, and terrace set within North Oxford’s famous Grade II listed Victorian conservatory, once home to the Gee family’s greengrocers and floristry, just a ten-minute walk from Oxford’s city centre.

Enjoyed by locals and visitors alike for the past four decades, Gees serves a distinctly Mediterranean-inspired menu using the best seasonal ingredients, simply prepared and expertly cooked by head chef Lee Parsons, featuring regional dishes of Spain, Portugal and Italy.

The private dining space, Gees Gallery, upholds an authentic and organic feel, with bare stone walls, oak panelling and a flash of rich green marble, featuring its own private bar, entrance and art collection. Gees' Secret Garden provides an enchanting al fresco setting for delectable dishes and chic cocktails.

Free parking for two hours is available just a short walk away on Canterbury Road and Bevington Road.

All was fine, until I got the bill! I shall not try any Oxford Collection restaurants while you continue to charge a previously un-encountered tip of 13.5%.

Vastly over priced under powered food. Beautiful venue but a huge let down. Ghastly ‘duck Ragu’ that was more like chicken pot pie, nasty crab spaghettini…not un generous amount if white meat, but totally overcome by horrid brown organ meat, so bitter and unenjoyable. £4.25 plus 13.5% service charge for 100ml coke with a cup full of ice. Go to No 1 Ship Street instead. Whole thing was extortionate for the quality, and left a very bitter taste.

A delightful restaurant, consistently good with a lovely atmosphere and excellent service. Food was very good and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Our food was excellent. Really great quality, came quite promptly. The menu was fairly limited but the execution was first class, as was the service. Cocktails great too. The building amplifies the noise of people talking but that was the only downside.

The food was absolutely amazing, and the atmosphere was lovely. Though be aware, I don't think they serve the crème brulee anymore!

Gee's has become a firm favourite over the last couple of years when we are in Oxford. This visit was no different. The staff were delightful, service was quick and the ambience warm. We overheard other guests celebrating a mozzarella and anchovy pizzetta, which we promptly ordered and devoured! They were right. I thought my sage and butter gnocchi was a little overgenerous, but the taste was reassuring and comforting. My husband enjoyed his pasta carbonara although I thought it could have had a little more oomph. The wine was delicious, the chocolate dessert divine and I was surprised by a very fresh birthday vanilla ice cream. We will come again!

This was a lovely place to eat our evening meal situated on a beautiful part of Oxford and located in a stunning glass conservatory alongside the roadway. Complete with a secret. Garden to the side which was screened from the road and felt very private. Decorated with lots of fabulous pot plants as you go in and receive a warm welcome from the staff. Food was nicely prepared and tasted fabulous although a little pricey. The ambiance was classy but still casual and very relaxing. I’d certainly recommend Gees and would eat there again no doubt about it. One thing to be aware of is there’s no parking on site so you have to find a suitable spot in a side road and hope you’ve interpreted the waiting restrictions and times properly!

Delightful in every way as ever. Fabulous lunch, lovely service, beautiful ambiance. They just know how to do everything right. My favourite restaurant in Oxford by a country mile.

Our group of four had a range of starters which we all agreed were tasty and appealingly presented. Mains were also appreciated - I had swordfish which was beautifully cooked, on a nicoise salad which I would highly recommend. Other points to note were the delicious chocolate nemesis cake, and excellent coffee! All in all, we very much enjoyed our lunch..
