The service was excellent as usual at the Giada rest. that I have been to. From the hostess to the server and managers. Very friendly and prompt with their service. The oysters were my favorite dish and best I have had so far.
Food was delicious.. my only complaint is about the service... waitstaff unpolished.
Sad to say I was slightly let down by my experience at GDL. Being a famous chef’s restaurant, I had high expectations, but from the huge lack of ambiance (being steps away from all the rings and dings of the slot machines) to the food being just perfectly OK Italian food, I was not thrilled. Plenty of other places in Baltimore to get authentic Italian meals with the appropriate ambiance.
Food was excellent. Brownie dessert was blah. Our reservation was at 6:45 and it took 10 minutes at least to be seated even though the restaurant was less than half full. Took about 10 more minutes for the assistant server to come over only to tell us we couldn't order drinks from her because she wasn't 21. Then it was another 10 minutes until our server came over and took our drink and food order. Food came out quickly which was great but we had food for at least 5 minutes before getting our drinks. Drinks were excellent once we got them. Overall I'd go back and just sit at the bar. Not a good place for a "nice" dinner since the service is so slow. Our servers may have been serving all the tables in the whole place and if that is the case that is on the management.
We had a reservation, but were forced to wait over 15 minutes to be seated. Staff is very courteous and once seated, our waiter was attentive without being smothering. overall a very nice experience and the food was very good.
Waiting staff was very attentive. Drinks were good. Somewhat disappointed in the food. It was very mediocre and the pasta servings extremely small. I ordered the whole fish and while it was fine...it was a little dry and they would not de-bone it for me. Did not care much for the desert at all. Overall, not a very strong menu or amazing experience. I, unfortunately, would have expected more from Giada.
Beautiful restaurant, so so food. Giada’s Vegas restaurant is so much better.
The food was delicious, the service harrried but competent considering the “after the football game” crowd. Perhaps a bit noisier than normal for the same reason.
We are second timers here. The first time we were very disappointed. Our waitress was a wash out. I have issues with salt and Jacqueline couldnt help us and we ended up leaving
But we decided to give this restaurant a second chance. Our waiter Louis was excellent. From start to finish he took excellent care of us. My wife ordered the Giada ribeye and said it was the best ribeye she ever ate. I had salmon cooked exactly the way I wanted We would definitely come back to this restaurant and did I mention that we live in Philadelphia and travel down for a great meal.
The food was excellent. The restaurant had friendly atmosphere. I can't wait to visit again.
GDL is a great restaurant. The service was amazing. Our server and the entire staff go went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Our meals were excellent and the cocktails were on point as well. We will be going back.
The food is not bad. In fact it's tasty. The lemon smashed potatoes were the best item. Bronzini, pork chop and salads were all well prepared. It's just that our expectations were higher for a well regarded chef.
If you are at the casino and want to catch a bite, we would recommend this place. I just wouldn't go out of my to only eat at this restaurant.
Always great food!
We went to GDL for our 40th anniversary. We started with the Crab Arancini and baked Minestrone. I forgot about my wife's tomato sensitivity and she got the Arancini! (I did get one though!) The soup was rich and smooth. For a main course we got the Parmesan Crusted Pork Chop. This thing was the size of a rob eye steak. I had the Chitarra with a delightful lemon pea alfredo. We finished with the Zeppole and gelato. After following Giada for years it was a delight to have her dishes "directly".
The food was terrible, service was not great, much better food in little Italy.
Great cocktails. Especially the old fashioned! Food was very good. Not a huge fan of the chicken dishes.
When I call for a table I was asked if it was a special occasion, and said it was my wife's 74th birthday. The food so so, and my wife sent hers back . Also a few tables had a birthday dessert given while we were there, but no one even wished my wife Happy Birthday. This would not be bad, but they asked if this was a special occasion, and they blew it.
The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the menu has a nice variety of foods to choose from but the final product was not great. The meatballs and crab meat arancini were very salty. Barely edible! Pork chop was good but Giada’s Variety of sides weren’t much to be desired. Real disappointment compared to her Vegas restaurant at the Cromwell!
Excellent service. All of the waitstaff is very attentive. An on duty manager make a point to come by your table. We have eaten there twice and all of the menu items we tried have been delicious. Find time to enjoy GDL!
Very good food. Optional side of pasta was very small, no sharing. Tacky that it was not included with entree. Wine list was limited, not descriptive, and overpriced. More selections at more affordable prices strongly recommended. Service provided by Carley was excellent!!
This visit was nowhere close to what we have come to expect from our past experiences. Our waitress was by far the worst waitress we have ever had in any restaurant. She ignored us and even rolled her eyes when I told her for the third time we needed drinks. I had to grab the manager to get anything we needed. We ordered the same food we usually get but this time beyond disappointing. Soggy salad, greasy lasagne, dry chicken. So disappointing. I really hope this was a fluke and not the new normal.
The food was great and service was super professional ! Will be coming back soon !!
The food was superb and the service was amazing. The server ( I forgot her name) was absolutely perfect and made our evening perfect.
Fabulous new space in the casino. Service was amazing. Price may be a little high but I felt for a social occasion- it was perfect. The portions were not huge like some Italian restaurant standards, but I though they were nice sized. I’m definitely coming back.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had in my entire life! Every facet of this meal was on point. The atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing and the service was outstanding!
This was our second visit to GDL and it was even better than the first. I don't know how they pulled that off, but we were the lucky beneficiaries to their culinary alchemy! For starters, we ordered a slushie cocktail whose name escapes me. I'm not usually one for this type of libation, but I am so glad I ordered it! It was an off dry mix of limoncello, rose wine, and campari, I believe? Anyhow, it was excellent! If you're into really well-made cocktails, go to GDL. For an appetizer, we ordered the antipasti with prosciutto, parmigiano, caponata, giardinara, and olives. WOW! I could have easily doubled the order and had this as dinner. So excellent...this is tasting the Italian soul. Entrees were equally delicious as I ordered the Parmesan crusted pork chop and my wife ordered the Rockfish cacciatore. The creamy corn was a wonderful side dish. Add in a very diversified and approachable wine list and you've got a really nice restaurant that serves excellent food. And as an added plus, the staff is professional, friendly, and attentive.
I ordered Chicken Parmesan. It comes with no pasta which I thought was kind of weird but okay. You can order a side of pasta for like $5, ok no big deal. The side order of pasta was about as big as the palm of my hand!! Really? Food was good but not for what you pay. So $30 later. I realize this is a more high end restaurant and I don’t mind paying more but if you’re gonna charge extra at least make it bigger to have enough for your meal. Sheesh!
Three of us had dinner this evening and for the most part the food was very good. The arugula salad and buratta appetizers were excellent. We had the lasagne and the chicken parmigiana- both very good. However the steak was ok - had little seasoning on it and was quite fatty ( both inside the meat and a very thick rim of fat. )Would have been much better had the fat been rendered.
The food was very good let me start out saying that. I had high hopes going as I know Giana’s food, have several cook books and was excited to eat at one of her restaurants. The restaurant is placed in a casino, a casino that is very loud at the Baltimore Harbor and filled with customers that are solely focused on gambling. It’s not very clean it’s not kept very well so to use the restroom you have to leave the restaurant and that was a dealbreaker for me to start with. The wait staff while attentive and polite were dressed too casual for this restaurant. I believe that she has a standard that she is trying to hold for her restaurants and this just missed the mark. Sorry.
My family of 4 adults went to GDL for my husbands 63rd birthday. We were looking forward to it from seeing Giada on Food network and we like Italian food. We had reservations and when we arrived at 5 the restaurant was not ready for service. They asked us to sit in the lounge area and said they would get us drinks and popcorn... they gave us popcorn only. After a short wait we were seated for dinner. The place is beautiful, open with large windows. The wait staff including our waitress, Raven, were great. The bread brought to all tables was delicious with an herbed butter. We did not order drinks or appetizers. The entrees we ordered were the Campanelle, lasagna with a side of polenta, chicken parm with spaghetti and the crusted pork chop. Portions are on the smaller side , no leftovers. The food lacked seasoning, flavor. The Campanella and chicken parm sauces were sweeter then we're use to. The pork chop could have used salt, which they don't provide at the tables. The lasagna and polenta were good, but I expected more from an Italian restaurant. Not sure if going again
Food and service were very good. I would like to go back on a nice day and enjoy the patio.
Pork chop was great cut and cooked perfectly! The antipasta was amazing!
I was really excited to try this restaurant. However I was thoroughly disappointed. The atmosphere was completely uninviting, there was nothing intimate about the restaurant. The music was bad, the lighting was too bright, the tables were so far apart from one another. The food was fine - except for whatever I had that made me sick later in the night. I had high hopes for a Giada restaurant but it honestly cheapened her brand. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. If you’re looking for good Italian in Baltimore there are 25 other options that are better.
Great menu and great wait staff. Everyone happy and asking how things are going. Certainly will be back
My wife had the chicken picatta snd thought it was a bit bland. She really liked the homemade pasta. I had the chicken parm, which was very good, but did not come with any pasta. I added a tiny portion for $5. Overall, it was ok. We enjoy the food at Vivo better. We will go back again and try some different dishes.
Excellent service and menu. The whole branzino was the best I have ever had! The antipasto was delicious and creative. It was a wonderful experience.
We had a special event in Baltimore. To include 7 people arriving in 3 cars. We arrived at parking garage and because it was a game day at the nearby stadium our free parking turned in to $40 a car parking. With 3 cars that would have been $120. We said no thanks and turned around. We didn’t think a game day was a “special event” day since there are probably more than a hundred game days at the baseball and football fields. We called earlier in the day to verify our reservation. Would have been a good time for them to advise us on the parking situation. Very disappointing experience
The food was terrible. The service was horrible. The waitress barely paid attention to us. I would never go back. The atmosphere was nice but the food had zero taste. Very bland.
GDL is so worth the trek through the slots. Impeccable and genuinely friendly service. Our servers were on top of their game. The food and drinks are very reasonably priced. The antipasti platter was well worth the $15 for 2. Beautiful and pristine design. They even have an outdoor balcony for dining outside. It overlooks M&T stadium and that part of the city skyline. Really lovely!
Lucky enough to have been to Giadas in the Cromwell and was happy to see she opened a restaurant on the East Coast. I wouldn’t put GDL up there with Giadas in Vegas but food was good and we still had a fun time
