Fresh vanilla whipped cream, toasted coconut crust, butterscotch sauce
Fresh Fish Tacos*
Seared fresh catch in flour tortillas, asian slaw, grape tomoato salsa, drizzled with spicy chipotle creme fraiche, served with unagi mayo, furukake french fries.
Left much to be desired. Warmers for a couple of hot entrees were empty in spite of a kitchen worker being in the room all of the time. Not sure price is worth the buffet offerings. I will, however, recommend to friends, to try at least once and form their own impression. I especially enjoy meandering in the various shops on the grounds. Disappointed the ice cream shop wasn't open. Also thought we could order off a menu (versus doing the buffet), which would have been more appropriate as we eat very little meats and processed foods. Good to know, buffet only.
Not worth the money, service was good but the food very average.
Evening was fantastic. Great service and food was awesome. Thank you. We have been before and it did not disappoint this time. Always a great night.
Beautiful setting. Guitar accompaniment excellent. We shared poke tower excellent flavour and presentation.I had the Prime rib tasty cut and was medium rare as ordered. Could have been hotter. Overall very nice dinner
Have eaten here many times over the years. One of our favorite restaurants to visit when we are in Kauai. Well prepared food and a varied menu. Great ambiance on the back patio. Always prompt and attentive service. A must visit when in Kauai.
The music being played over the speaker system was too loud and did not fit the ambiance of Gaylord's. Very disappointing.
The music played was 50's Rock and Roll. It's the music I grew up with but was not appropriate for the Gaylord's experience.
A more Hawaiian themed music played softly would be a better choice.
Food was excellent. Best we had on Kauai. And good value for the price! Would definitely go there again!
We go here often but last night was not our best experience. We waited longer than comfortable for the sun shade to be lowered.
food was average last night. Vegetarian pasta had a nice combination of vegetables and pasta but no seasoning, bland. I requested Parisian cheese to pick it up. Chicken breast also uneventful.
Server was good.
Our overall experience was not good, food was ok price was not for spending close to $300. I only gave a star for the lovely ambience and live music.
Nice place! Soft music! Food was great!! Would definitely come back to again!!
This restaurant is in a tropical paradise that cannot be beat! Kauai (Lihue) Hawaii is a paradise with lush, green forest and beautiful seascapes that take your breath away. Gaylord's at Kilohana sits on an old sugar cane plantation in Lihue and has been transformed into a great restaurant and bar (with one of the best Mai Tais in the world!).
Treat yourself and make a special trip to enjoy a lovely lunch or dinner on the veranda and watch the palm trees sway while you dine.
My husband and I love Gaylord’s! Their food is beautifully prepared and all the fish dishes are delightful plus salads are fresh and wonderful. You can’t beat the setting on the lanai - open-air and with small touches such as local flowers and leaves in little vases on every table. Everyone should eat lunch and/or dinner here at least once!
Good Sunday brunch, great ambiance with music and hula.
Such a nice change from all the beach restaurants. Lovely setting around the courtyard with excellent service from Kip and Phillip. The Poke Stack was a delicious starter - the best we had at any restaurant on the island. The food was fine - nothing too adventurous but prepared as advertised.
We were really pleased with the experience and recommend that you try Gaylord's. They also have a nice wine list!
Located in a historic plantation house not far from the airport, our lunchtime visit to Gaylord’s was a perfect stop after a morning arrival. The adjacent shops are nice, too. The covered verandah surrounding three sides of an open patio afforded pretty garden views and pleasant breezes. The fish special was outstanding, and the fish and chips (ahi tuna) were also very tasty. Service was friendly and attentive, and the desserts delicious.
We have eaten here numerous times over the years and food is always good. Occasionally service has been less than great, but this time it was outstanding! Good local fish catch as well as other options for those who don't want fish.
Beautiful location, great food & service. Would loved to have Hawaiisn music vs. Piano. But piano player was great!
My wife and I both had Island Caprese salads, which were fair at best. The mozzarella was cut too thick and the tomato slices did not compliment the dish, allowing for Kauai farmers seemingly not growing much in the way of large tomatoes. My Crab Cake appetizer was excellent, however, my wife felt her Ahi Sashimi was cut too thick, not feeling light and delicate as sashimi usually does. Our Monchong fish entrees, prepared Oscar style and grilled, were both outstanding. We had a bit of a struggle with the wine service, which the manager helped make up for by serving us a slice of Gaylord's delicisous signature banana cream pie.
This is a great location for foodies. Awesome food and atmosphere. The dining area is under a patio and the night we were there it was a little windy and cool. There seemed to be only 1 waitress for a large number of tables, so while her service was attentive, as the night went on, less attentive.
We had been to Kauai for 4 years and heard about, but never went to Gaylord's. It is now on our MUST list, for the next time we visit Kauai!
We had a wonderful lunch outdoors in the beautiful garden courtyard. This is a special place, a nice change from food trucks and casual cafes.
We enjoyed Sunday Brunch & it was especially delightful with the live music. Beautiful grounds & the food was tasty.
We had a delicious meal, ambience was excellent, little disappointed that none of the shops were open, since there was a wedding. We always look forward to them being open when we visit the island and make an reservation to eat there.
Wonderful setting. Loved the addition of the deck off bar area. Have kept historical quality intact. Great food and wait staff. We had a wonderful evening. Always a must when we come to kauai
Previous experience was much better as far as food was concerned....service was great
Server pleasant but forgetful re orders. Had to take back & replace more then once.
Dinner to celebrate our wedding day. Was excellent. Waitstaff was very professional and informative.
Enjoyed the background music from the onsite luau
Our table was located on the veranda so we had a very nice view of the gardens, as well as close proximity to the live music.
Our server was attentive, but not intrusive and offered excellent selections from the menu.
Our food was prepared to our requests and the on-going table service was appreciated.
Thanks for a wonderful evening of a beautify setting, nice live music, excellent food and service!
Always our favorite place to go when we visit the Islands!
The train ride not so much! Just sat down to go and it broke down! Shortest train ride Ever! Just kidding. Will try next time!
Great place to have lunch, look through the shops and enjoy the beautiful grounds around the property!
When there is an occasion to celebrate this is the place to go. Hard to find any place better overall.
Excellent service, ambience, food, drinks. Lovely dinner at Gaylords!
Good food and service. Loved the atmosphere. Prices were very reasonable. Seafood cooked to perfection!
The food was excellent!...we love Gaylord’s and go there every time we are in Kauai....our server was friendly but I believe was overwhelmed with too many tables....it took 20 minutes to get the drinks we ordered....I wouldn’t say the service is fine dining...we felt like we were mostly an afterthought......fortunately the place is beautiful and we love the surroundings .....
Gorgeous outdoor setting, great old building, friendly staff. Salad was exquisite, pork chop less so. Don't miss the banana cream pie with coconut crust!
Great food , service & ambiance
What an amazing experience very nice and unforgettable. The sweet shop was so good as well with many sweet gifts.
I would recommend Gaylord's because we have dined there often and had wonderful meals from their everyday menu. But this last time we reserved a table for Valentine's night having no idea that it was a fixed price menu at $80 per person until we got there. And a very limited menu that wasn't that appealing. A disappointing night!
Valentines dinner of excellence
