Setting was charming, food was very good. Server was very nice. Pace of service was very slow. Wine list was good and pricing was very reasonable.
Great service. Delicious food. The portions were generous. It's worth a visit.
Gaylords is an amazing spot with a piano bar/lounge as well as an amazingly romantic outdoor patio.
Feel like back in the 1800s and indulge in the great craft cocktails, fun wine list and amazing food creations.
Service is 5 stars!!
This was hands down the best dining experience I have ever endeavored in my 50 years here on planet earth. Truly an amazing and exceptional location and chef at Gaylord’s. Bravo!
Came here approximately 5 years ago & it was great. Just went back & I just want to say I would never go back again considering all the other amazing options you have in Kauai. Better scenery, atmosphere, but most of all supherb service in almost every other place we went to. Here, we had a waiter who was faking his way through providing us service. The kind who says all the right things but doesn’t really mean it? Felt like he doesn’t really care & was borderline condescending. Didn’t feel comfortable at all & regretted spending so much money on dinner. The fish was dry and tasteless. Overall, the service will not make you feel welcome so don’t waste your time or money here. You have so many other amazing choices. Go elsewhere. If you must, just come here for a drink or coffee. Food & service not worth it.
Service was terrible, food was just okay. Beautiful setting.
Beautiful setting and wonderful ambiance. Would definitely come back again. This is a great restaurant for any special occasion.
Service was amazing and the food was wonderful! A great find for a special dinner!
Best place to eat in Kauai
The garden setting and delicious food make for an enjoyable dining experience. We also love the Sunday brunches with live music here. A favorite place for gatherring with friends.
We starred with the artichoke crab dip and it was delicious, had the spring salad which was light and fresh and then had the fresh catch which was Ono which was prepared to perfection with risotto and asparagus. The rolls are so delicious also! We would highly recommend this restaurant! We are coming back for sure! Yummy!!
Excellent restaurant, food, beautiful grounds and very fair prices. Would highly recommend, a best meal in Kauai.
It was very nice. The food was delicious. The children that we were seated by on both sides of us were quiet distracting. Our server was attentive, but not overly intrusive.
Fantastic evening with the wife at Gaylord’s for our anniversary! Great ambiance, Great food and A GREAT Mai Tai!
Went for Sunday Brunch and it did not disappoint. The food was great.
Our favorite on the Island. Classy without being stuffy. Historic without being boring. GREAT food. We stay for seven days and eat at Gaylords three times.
Beautiful setting .... food very good....I will be returning
At the end of our vacation we always eat at Gaylord’s the experience had always been excellent as was the food. Seared ahi and mahi-mahi. What a way to end a vacation.
Visited for our honeymoon and couldn’t have asked for better seats overlooking the garden. The food was excellent! We ordered the mahimahi and shrimp pasta. Great service all around too! The only noise was from the luau across the garden, but it didn’t bother us.
Absolutely lovely setting, very good food ( limited choices but well prepared), attentive service. A good choice for a special occasion, or in our case, the final night of our vacation.
The property is lovely to see and enjoy walking around and the food is very good. The menu provides a nice variety of dishes. Our server was very nice. We enjoyed our visit to the Plantation. The boutiques have very interesting and unique items. It was a very enjoyable and relaxing evening.
lovely setting, relaxed and calm ambiance. Server was sweet and attentive, just didn't give us little plates for our bread and butter.
I’m so glad we had brunch here it does not disappoint! Excellent selection of hot and cold items, including mahi mahi in a ginger sauce, eggs Florentine, an omelette bar and French toast with coconut syrup. My passion fruit margarita was very good also. Live traditional Hawaiian music and hula was a lovely counterpart.
We were seated outside in a covered patio type area. The view was pretty. The Gaylord is an old plantation and had a lot of charm to it. We enjoyed that. We were the first diners there for lunch and noticed that all of the glass topped tables needed cleaning. There were drinking glass rings and smears on them like they hadn't been wiped from the day before. My husband liked his cheeseburger, and my son in law liked the fresh catch of the day. My daughter and I got cobb salads which would've been much better without the sweet floral taste to them. I'm not sure if it was in the blue cheese dressing or what. My daughter couldn't eat hers due to that.
We had the Monchong for lunch and it was delicious. They make an excellent Mai Tai and coconut banana cream pie.
We enjoyed dining on the three-sided covered patio surrounding the courtyard . The setting was enhanced by the sound of the excellent lounge pianist playing songs with Hawaiian themes.
The food was prepared with vegetables from their gardens and the vegetarian
Linguine was lightly flavored as to allow the taste of the vegetables to be the primary enjoyment. The preparation of the fresh fish was outstanding. Accompanying our meals were their " original" Mai Tais. it was the best Mai-Tai I had in a week of trying other "original" Mai-Tais !
We came here for our ten year wedding anniversary and could not have asked for a more perfect experience. The ambiance and food was fabulous, and the service was impeccable. Every trip to Kaua’i will necessitate a visit to Gaylord’s.
This review includes the entire grounds. Did the rum tasting ... discovered I like rum. Walked the grounds and got serendipitously lost. The dining was relaxed and we never felt rushed. While the menu is not large I still had trouble deciding. The spring rolls were great, the crab and artichoke dip was a cut above. Dinner was perfect.
Truly the best food and ambiance we have experienced in our many years of coming to our second home of Kauai
Beautiful in every way. Loved the local culture performance.
Delicious brunch, very wide variety of hot and cold foods
All of our food was cold except the freshly made omelet. We paid over $100 for breakfast for 3. We didn’t get a second plate from the buffet because the food was cold. Nice variety of food and great fruit and pastries, but left disappointed.
Excellent ambiance and food. Enjoyed the experience and the food was very good.
Best mai tai and lava flow made with Koloa Rum! Salads were fresh. Scallops and fresh catch were delicious. Nice live music to go with dinner. Will definitely go back for more.
Been eating at Gaylord'd for over 15 years. Great food, great drinks and wonderful bar area. Only drawback is service gets 'taxed" and spread thin on Luau Nights, which happened this visit. But no regrets, will be coming back again (just will avoid "certain nights"). But did their Luau back in 2013 when family visited and it is great).
Food was delicious. Always a great place in a beautiful setting. Our waitress was not the friendliest which was disappointing but the gentleman who brought us our water and bread was very nice and delightful. We try to visit this place each time we travel to Kauai and hopefully can try it again the next visit.
We'd read about Gaylord's in a NY Times article. It was a perfect stop after leaving the airport before driving up to Princeville. The menu is not long, yet there were several things that sounded good. I settled on the Cobb Salad. The vegetables were fresh and delicious, and it included all the other ingredients that one expects in that dish. My daughter had the fish tacos with fried ahi. I'd never had ahi prepared that way, but the bite I had was delicious. I also got a couple of bites of my husband's banana coconut pie, and it was wonderful, with a creamy filling and toasted coconut.
The experience isn't just about the food. The tables are in a covered outdoor garden setting - a perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal. We are hoping to have time for another stop on our way back to the airport! Reservations are recommended, as it's not a big place.
And if you have time, take the train ride around the property to see all the fruits being grown, and to stop and feed the pigs. Or shop in the historic house, or try the rum tasting!
Enjoyed the ambiance! Wanted to see the plantation during our visit to Kauai. It was quiet since we arrived near closing time and the luau was later that evening.
Overall, a good experience. The refills on drinks was a little slow. The entertainment was excellent.
