This restaurant is fabulous! The ambiance is beautiful, the staff is helpful and attentive without being intrusive. Definitely recommend for a nice occasion.
Great place! Will come back again!!
Sunday brunch was outstanding. We arrived early and the hostess was able to seat us right away. Table had an excellent veiw of the garden and the service was fast and friendly. I will definitely return on our next visit to the island.
Wild kids running around. They discontinued the all u can drink Champagne and Bloody Mary bar. Way overpriced now. Have gone for years, very disappointed
Beautiful grounds for a Sunday brunch and train ride with a toddler.
Anniversary dinner... wonderful ambiance and amazing food! Piano music was lovely- but noisy at times Bc we were there on luau night so you could hear some of the music from the show. But it didn’t clash with the piano music at all, or overlap. Great experience! Will definitely return!
Once again Gaylord’s didn’t disappoint. Sitting outside in the early evening, soft breeze blowing, having a pre dinner drink while listening to live music in the background. Our waitress was friendly, efficient and professional. Our food was delicious, I had roasted chicken (yes, I know sounds boring) but it was moist and seasoned wonderfully.
Amazing food and service. Best fish we ate while in Kauai
Delicious brunch. Nice way to end our trip. Hope to go there again next time we are in Kauai
Sunday Brunch, great food, great atmosphere. The wait staff wasn’t the friendliest....
Outstanding Sunday brunch. Great food, great service, fantastic ambiance.
Wonderful dining experience. The atmosphere is perfect seating around a beautiful courtyard. The food was expertly prepared and to our specifications. Highly recommend for special occasions and everyday dining.
Exploring this property is both fun and interesting. Located in a historical building with shops, rum tasting room, and a train tour of the plantation. The restaurant is located in the courtyard of the main house (under cover!). The food was very good; I had seared scallops on potato croquettes. The presentation was great as was the taste. Service was good also. Definitely worth a trip here while on Kauai!
Watch that entry step! Husband fell but staff was kind and responded with concern, a bag of ice and a promise to speak to the management about what they offered was a hazardous un-highlighted step leaving the restaurant.
The food and ambiance were very nice.
The piano player in the bar was an accomplished but loud distraction who literally banged out a zippy/frantic (poor) selection of tunes.
We went for dinner at Gaylord's when doing the "entertainment only" option for the luau. The scenic was quite lovely - lush and green. Very beautiful place to enjoy dinner. Unfortunately, I would have to say the atmosphere was the high point. Service was very friendly but also slow. The food was fine but nothing special. And we were charged $21 per child for a small bowl of pasta, a smoothie and a hard cookie. Come for a beautiful setting but keep your expectations in check if you are seeking a gourmet meal.
Beautiful magical place. Excellent food, friendly staff and fun shopping.
Beautiful setting in an outdoor courtyard. Great food and selections. The hostess was very friendly and remembered that it was a birthday. Our server was not very friendly and delivery of wine was slow.
Fantastic - you would be MAD not to check it out - the food was really delicious and the wine list was excellent - we loved it. Like going back to 1930.
We couldn't ask for better ambiance, food and service. The Chiopino was incredible! Gaylords NEVER disappoints and we come here anytime we're on Kauai.
We went for Sunday brunch and it was amazing! Great food, beautiful outdoor surroundings, and wonderful music. Will definitely be going back next time we’re in Kauai.
Excellent selection of desserts, meats, vegi's, fruit; super cool building. Everything you need for a special brunch. Great location and beautiful roosters!
We've been to this restaurant before on other trips to Kauai. We were not disappointed with our meals this year. Four of us went to Gaylord's and two had steaks, one chicken and one grilled fish. All meals were excellent. Our server Jeff was wonderful. He was very attentive without being obtrusive and extremely pleasant and fun. Would definitely go back on our next Hawaii vacation.
Although the restaurant tables were sparsely populated the wait time for food was extraordinarily long, especially compared to prior experience here.
The quality of the food and the knowledge of wait staff has fallen off remarkably.
Once upon a time this was perhaps our favorite for a romantic dinner; not so anymore.
Disappointing to say the least.
Loved everything about Gaylord’s. Our meals were excellent, lovely presentation, and the ambiance felt so typical of Hawaii. We will certainly return!
Beautiful old royal hawaiian charm. Food was outstanding. Lilikoi martini delicious. Waitress was very attentive. It's a must if you're in Kauai.
Amazing Food. Incredible atmosphere. Perfect.
The steak knife I received had a terrible chemical smell which transferred to my hand and in turn through the bread to my taste buds, ruined my appetite/meal. I sincerely hope they replace them! I would try again if I knew they had addressed this.
Overrated and terrible food. But friendly waitstaff.
Always love coming here. Never had a bad experience. Food is great, special was tasty. Only thing we would improve on is portion size, particularly in appetizers. One spring roll cut in half for $10 —a bit meager for the price. Change the menu item to read spring roll not spring rolls!
I was quite dissatisfied and disappointed with both the service and the meal. I had made a note when booking our reservation that one of us was a vegan so when I mentioned it to the server I expected her to know about it. She knew nothing and had absolutely no advise on what to order. I then decided to trust the kitchen to come up with a creative and tasty vegan entree. I shocked when I was served a plate of onions with a side of zucchini and asparagus. A huge, full plate of onions for a woman on a date..... Really?? Nothing else was available!? There are so many vegans these days I was very unimpressed with the kitchen's creative abilities. I have worked in fine dining for over a decade and in all the restaurants I have worked in the kitchen knows how to prepare a decent special request meal.... Then the server said after our entrees, well I guess there's no point in offering you desert then. The man I was with might have quite enjoyed a desert, as he was not a vegan... Very poor service and terrible dinner, won't return and definitely won't recommend it to anyone...
Unacceptable time to get dessert once ordered.
Another excellent meal at Gaylord's. The food was great and the service attentive. It is so nice to go to a restaurant where you can carry on a conversation. Mahalo, Gaylord's!
I always choose Gaylords for a "gals get together" - I enjoy the lanai setting, the menu options are plentiful and varied enough for all my friends, and we can easily talk with each other. The ability to easily talk with each other is getting to be rare in most of Kauai's restaurants. I live here, so finding a place that considers return patrons as well as visitors is truly a "neighborhood gem" to me. I have business meetings at Gaylords, meet friends in the Living Room, an enjoy the historic home setting. I recommend Gaylords and sure wish there were several more classy, comfortable, delicious restaurants around the island like this one.
We had Sunday brunch at Gaylord’s. I wouldn’t recommend it. The selection was very limited for a $30+ meal. They only offered cream with coffee. No almond or soy milk. The only bread was small white flour bagels or water crackers. They had baked goods but all the same. Salad selection was also small. Mixed greens with cucumbers and tomato’s available also pasta salad, some pickled vegetables. There were potatoes. For fruit there was papaya, pineapple, grapes, strawberries, and melons. Only cereal was a granola. Service was minimal. The atmosphere is beautiful and there were a couple of meats and egg dishes and smoked salmon and Mahi. Deserts were small pudding or cupcakes that you can get at Cosco. For such a highly publicized place they could do better.
all started well, drinks were timely and food timely also, ordered the Filet Mignon med and it came very Rare. did not have a steak knife and had to ask for one. Steak was served on a nice plate on top of greens and potatoes. sent the steak back to get to medium and it was returned in a bowl with the same presentation. the steak was cooked better but still hot to medium which is hot pink center. still had rare red in it.
the manager offered a desert on the house for our trouble.
we still recommend this place as we have been here multiple times with great food and experience. we were disappointed this time, but will give another chance. should not be to hard to cook a steak to medium.
Great ambience, great service
It was our anniversary dinner. 1st right after we sat down the couple next to us were playing video on their phone very loudly. We waited for them to finish, thinking they would stop shortly. Instead, they watched the whole 5 minute video. After that, they decided to play another one. Several servers walked by without saying anything (one was even showed the video and laughed it off). By the third video (yes, 3) I asked the hostess to please either move us to another table or ask the guests to stop. She went over to them, and they put away their phone. Shortly after, they took their phone out and blasted another video. After listening to singin in the rain, Bruno mars, and some sort of circus music on full blast, I again asked the hostess for another table. First she was annoyed that I was bothering her and told me to wait while she finished something. Then she rudely responded to my request by saying, "they're leaving soon. I already told the waitress to get them their check."
This was just contrary to our expectations for Gaylords. The videos were ruining the ambiance. The hostess was rude. The service was slow, unresponsive, and lack luster. Only the guy refilling our water paid the most attention to us. He was the one we had to ask just to even get bread.
We thought the good was tasty, but the service ruined our dinner. We booked it as an anniversary dinner and even that wasn't even acknowledged. It was our first time in Kauai, and we booked Gaylords due to the positive reviews, location, atmosphere, and menu. Only the menu deliveried. We would like to return to Kauai, but not Gaylords.
Beautiful setting, even with the rain it was great.
Awesome dinner, drinks & service! Our server, Jeff was great!
A beautiful place to eat. The food was delicious and a nice valur
