Gaylord's at Kilohana
Memorable by day…Unforgettable by Night.
If reservations are not available online, please call us anytime and we will be more than happy to accommodate you!
The staff were all lovely and welcoming. Especially Dava. Dining outside with a view of the grounds is a relaxing way to enjoy dinner. The highlights of the meal were the pork prime rib and fresh catch and of course the banana cream pie and plantation pie.
Loved the food and the whole setup. The pottery area, the art shop and the other stores. The train ride with the chickens running after it was great! And finally the candy shop was heaven.
The place is fantastic and the staffs are friendly. The food was not great. It is medium but with high price tag.
Gaylord’s was our favorite restaurant in Kauai. We ended up going twice while we were on vacation and our only regret was that we didn’t go two more times. Now we just need to figure out how to get the pies shipped to us in California. They are to die for!!
great location with excellent sevice. My problem is I am handicapped and use a walker to get arround, they have handicap access through one of the shops. Unfortunately that ship i often closed. If you know the tricks you gan get the hostess to turn off the allarm system and open the handicap access but there a hassle.
Food and ambiance were excellent. Drinks were also very good
Everything was near perfect in our dinning experience. The highlight of the meal was our outstanding waitress, whose name escapes me, but she was a true ambassador of Aloha. Please take the time to convey my personal thanks to her. Mahalo nui loa...
The steak was over cooked. My fish with crab topping was excellent! The ambience was lovely. The service was superb.
Second time we’ve gone to Gaylord’s. Food is solid, ambience is nice. Sat outside and got pretty hot with sun shining. Didn’t seem to be screens to block.
Wait staff was just ok. Person who bussed dishes a bit overzealous about clearing and less zealous about checking if waters filled, etc.
Would go back given food quality (ie, tastes good!) and overall ambience.
Our second trip to Gaylord’s on this visit. We were so impressed with dinner, service and ambiance that we cancelled our reservation at Merriman’s and book our anniversary dinner last night with you.
Thanks Beth🤙😃for the great seating on the lawn.

Delicious food. Pretty setting. Great service. Loved it!
Pretty good food. Nice atmosphere. But far too expensive. I would have expected the brunch buffet to be between 20 and 30 dollars with the inflated Hawaii prices but it was 40 dollars per person. We didnt feel it was worth that much.
Okay, we're back again, as we do every year. Once again, we opted for the "awesome" Sunday Brunch option as we have done in the past as noted in my previous review.
Let's just start with this...What the heck happened, Gaylord's?!?!
Price: It was $29.95, but is now $39.95
Seating: I showed up 25 minutes before the rest of our party and was denied seating, even though no one sat at our reserved table the entire time of my wait.
I was told to go wait in the bar. I should have been seated at our table and allowed to order my drink there. There really wasn't anyone seated in the main dining area at all.
1. The Bloody Menu Bar, one of there best deals that everyone liked is GONE!!! No more! Nada! Zilch! What, What?!?! Even some of the staff I talked to were bummed and baffled.
2. The 'once' great Mai Tai was weak. Small, full of ice, and a LOT of just juice. It looked pretty, but had no kick as it once did. Not a true Mai Tai and I make a great Mai Tai.
3. Bottomless Mimosa? Gone too!!! Really?!?! Why? When did Gaylord's go cheap on us. Again, staff members were baffled at this one too. One staffer said that "Some people abused it."
So, we ALL get punished because of a few bad seeds? Do like bars and airlines do; cut them off. Easy Peasy. Maybe set a limit? You should at LEAST get one free with an expensive Brunch.
1. While the food is good, the Ahi Benedict? GONE! Yup, gone. And again, baffled staff just shrugged their shoulders. Actually, there was NO Benedict! A brunch with no Benedict? Really? Come on now!
2. Crab Omelette? Gone! Ugh!
So, bottom line? The location, atmosphere, food is all great, but beware, if you're a regular or returning diner for the Sunday Brunch, be prepared, very prepared. It's just NOT the same.
Will we be back? Yes. My, now, 6 year old loves the food, music, train ride, atmosphere and staff. Don't get me wrong, it's a great stop, but just not the same, which really bums us out. We miss our awesome Sunday Brunc
One of the best experiences on the island. Love it!
The dinner was delicious but the price seemed to be a little high.
Our waitress was very attentive.
Made reservations for 5:30 but arrived early and were seated. The location, staff, food, atmosphere were all exceptional. It made for the perfect birthday dinner.
Great meal in a relaxed setting.
Disappointed. This was our last dinner on Kauai and it was disappointing. The server was friendly and helpful but the food service was beyond slow. Once it was served, it wasn’t all that good. Probably wouldn’t come back here.
Our first time there and my husband and I truly enjoyed the experience.
Food is great and the environment!
Everything was great at Gaylord's. The food, service and ambiance were perfect.
Kilohana is a tried and true dinner experience for us! Been there often and always enjoy the same things about it. The outdoor patio is delightful and is the perfect place on Kauai! Our dinner was excellent and fairly priced. Our server was knowledgeable and professional. The drinks are great there, especially their mai tai. After dinner we went into the lounge to enjoy an after dinner drink and listen to Henry Adam Curtis play the piano! That was a real highlight of our trip as it always has been. He is such a talent!
We will, of course , return on our next trip.
The entertainment was nice
The food was good
The eneven floors were difficult for my elderly mother
It was fairly pricey but good
We really liked the environment
Tropical grounds were gorgeous and really felt like we were in Hawaii. The service, food and surroundings were great! We had the fresh salad, fresh catch of the day and the short ribs. The short ribs are a must! So moist and melted in mouth. Excellent!
Service and atmosphere were great. The coconut shrimp app was good but the main course and salad were meh.
Gaylord’s ambience is relaxing yet very classy. We had Sashimi Salad & Caesar Salad. Both were Crisp, tasty & very fresh! The Sashimi was excellent! For dessert we had banana coconut cream pie which was delicious. Views ands ambience perfect and the service was outstanding. Mahalo Gaylord’s!
Beautiful setting, exceptionally attentive staff and delicious food well-priced. A great evening.
Beautiful old mansion, a great dinner venue. The food selection is good. But there's too much reliance on sauces. My poor Ahai tuna was smoothered; I couldn't see the fish. My wife had a different fish dish and it too was swimming in a sauce.
Last meal of the trip and it didn’t disappoint! We were there for the lunch menu and the portions were the perfect size. The ice cream pie was delicious! The shops were fun to browse through and had a variety of items and price points. We will definitely come back the next time we’re on the island!
Our first time to Gaylord’s for dinner. We have gone to the luau many times but not at the mansion. Service was impeccable. Adrianna was amazing. Food very good. I had the prime rib pork, while my husband had the fish Oscar. We would recommend both along with the local greens side salad.
Very nice meal with wonderful service throughout. We loved the Mai Tai cocktails, fresh fish, and healthy salads. Please save room for desert.
The live music really added to the experience.
Beautiful place...one of our favorites and we go at least once every time we visit Kauai. Enjoyed listening to Corey play and sing as we ate...just wish he played longer so we could listen throughout our meal.
Thrilled with the experience overall. Service was outstanding and the food was wonderful, especially the banana coconut cream pie, oh my. The only negative was that we went on the same night as the luau, and happened to want to leave when the luau was concluding. There were cars and buses everywhere and patience was needed when exiting the grounds. We did not mind this except at one point a large truck came in the other direction on the driveway and seemingly pointed its vehicle right at us, then shouted something rude on the way by. This was not appreciated very much. Overall, a fantastic evening though and we will not hesitate to visit again.
We came back 14 years later to this beautiful place to have dinner. Excellent service! You must enjoy this unique place!
Gaylord’s was the everything it always is when we dine there. Great seating, wonderful service, and food was so fresh and delicious!
The server was very friendly and efficient. We received our meal in a reasonable time. It was a beautiful setting and very pleasant.
We were seated by an obviously inexperienced hostess who put us in a luau prepackaged section. We did not book the luau but were offered a glass of champagne. Since we were celebrating our anniversary we thought it might just be a gesture in regard to that. The waitress poured mine and ran out so she went to get another bottle to serve my husband. In the course of this the staff realized that they had given the luau package menu to us in error but had already poured my champagne . Instead of explaining this to us, they simply switched our menus to the regular one. Since it was the staff’s mistake , I think the correct thing would have been to go ahead and offer my husband a glass of champagne on the house, but no such offer came. This was the mistake of the young and inexperienced hostess but the waitress should have picked up on this and made it right. It kind of put a bit of a damper on our anniversary dinner. The food and service were great other this this. We have been to Gaylord’s on every trip to Kauai every time we have been coming in the last 15 years. It is a special place and the hostess and staff need to be better trained in customer service so that it matches the food, ambience and magic of this special place.
It was our 42nd anniversary. We requested a special table and they reserved it for us! Great food, ambience and phenomenal service from Craig, our server! This place is a Gem!
A once a year visit to Kauai and Gaylord’s is a required stop. The fish was excellent.
Enjoy the sunday brunch. Great value for the food, ambience, entertainment, and workers.
