Gaylord's at Kilohana
Memorable by day…Unforgettable by Night.
If reservations are not available online, please call us anytime and we will be more than happy to accommodate you!
Very friendly staff, great food, romantic athmosphere. This is THE dining spot one should go for.
Ambience is wonderful and food is good. Our waiter was a good storyteller, as I listened to him with other tables. But he broke a wine glass at our table and was really s-l-o-w about getting us the check, so much so that we got up and had someone else handle the credit card payment.
Gaylord's is my go-to restaurant when I am in Kauai. It has a relaxing ambiance, great service and good food. The fish is really fresh and deliciously prepared. The spareribs and shortribs are good, too. They also make a great Mai Tai.
It was our first-time visit. We were seated in a beautiful spot outside next to the lawn. We loved watching the chickens and rosters meandering on the lawn and near our table. Our lunch was wonderful and tasteful. Cocktails were perfect! We enjoyed our lunch indeed!
Every time we visit Kauai, we book Sunday Brunch here at Gaylord’s. The setting is beautiful and very relaxing. There is a lot of history connected with this building. It also houses several shops that are delightful to visit.
Lovely buffet. Family members have enjoyed Sunday brunch for years and it was a treat to join them this year. A happy morning
We enjoyed dinner at Gaylord's on an unusually quiet evening. A few other tables had guests when we arrived, but by the time we were eating - 6:30-7:00 - there were only 8 tables with guests. Nice that it was quiet, and one would think service would be top notch since the restaurant wasn't busy, but it really wasn't. Our server was very friendly, but overall slow... slow to take our drink order - we had a nice bottle of Duckhorn Decoy - slower yet to bring the wine and to discuss a couple specials not on the menu. Fortunately the kitchen uses a runner to bring out the food.
I ordered a traditional Caesar Salad (they have one with salmon that our server steered me away from) and it was probably the best Caesar I have had in a very long time. Lots of shaved Parmesan cheese, and the salad was well dressed with an excellent Caesar dressing. For entrees, I had the Fresh Catch special - Mahi Mahi - grilled, served on a bed of risotto, and garnished with a Tomato bruschetta that was almost a puree. Tasty, but the fish was a bit overdone. If I hadn't had filet the evening before, I would have chosen one of their other two specials- prime rib or a very nice sounding lamb shank preparation. The so - so fish special left me wishing I had made a different choice. My partner had the Vegetarian pasta, which was a nice large bowl of noodles with a large mix of various vegetables. The light sauce was good, with Asian influences. Overall - not one of Gaylord's best evenings, I think.
We have been here many times in past and were blown away at how bad the place has become. The table was everything we did not want...cold, wet, and windy. We stopped by the place 4 hours before out reservation to be sure they understood we wanted a table away from wind and rain. We were early for dinner reservation, but it took 45 minutes to be seated in bad table. We saw other tables not being utilized that would have been great, but hostess said it was for people that were there, but they didn't know where they where. Food was okay, but not great, slow, small and cold. Very small portions for the price. Wine menu was mediocre at best. Server was difficult to get attention. I all most had to trip her to get her attention for another glass of wine. We have been there many times in the past, but will not be coming back until it is under new ownership. Stay away from this place.....
Valentine’s Day with a very busy kitchen. In light of that the restaurant provided an excellent meal!
It was Valentine’s Day and something was seriously wrong. We waited to be seated at 740 for a 715 res. At 915 after having been served the wrong entree we just ate the wrong one and left. They apologized and comped us one of the meals. The waitstaff tried their best but the kitchen must have had problems and the whole thing was disorganized. We’ve had good experiences in the past and were very disappointed.
Went there on Valentine’s Day. They seemed understaffed and everyone was running around frantically. Our main course steaks were only warm, and my medium rare was medium well. I will say that our waiter tried his best and the bartender in the lounge was helpful.
Beautiful setting but I am afraid everything else was just average. I rarely write negative reviews but this establishment did not live up to the hype on the night we were there.
Great dinner. Fantastic service. We love this restaurant.
Excellent experience. Our waiter was outstanding! Beautiful location!
We have dined here many times and come back every time we are on Kauai.
Our waiter was Joe and he was refreshingly honest about food and drink selections and was also a very good waiter. We enjoyed the food and reminisced about our wedding reception 23 years ago at Gaylords. Had a great time then and this time and we'll be back on our next trip to Kauai.
We've dined here several times over the past 15 years for both lunch and dinner and they have been consistently excellent. The ambiance is unparalleled on the island, service excellent, and the locally sourced food of all kinds; meat, fish, fruit, and vegetables are prepared and served with elegant pride completing each and every delicious course.
Loved this place. Wondering why I didn’t receive 100 points for booking through open table. If this restaurant is not eligible than it should not be listed as such on open table.
Server was very nice. But service was very slow. We asked about the history of the building. The manager started to tell us about the place. He was about half done when he was needed in kitchen. He never returned. The food was of average quality. Our server offered to replace one meal but we were to far along with dinner. He did offer a free desert which we accepted. the desert selections were average.
The restaurant seemed to understaffed causing slow and fairly unattentive service.
Given the price of the meals the value isn't there.
Stopped by for a relaxed lunch- was impressed.
Excellent service & wonderful food.
Will be back!
Excellent as always!! It’s a yearly tradition to have brunch here!!
You let me book and they were booked out for a wedding
Nice setting and on a warm or hot day it would be perfect but there was a very cool breeze and they never offered to bring the curtains down. I ordered a Cobb salad and it came without a dressing although I has asked for it with ranch. I thought maybe they had already dressed it so ate it only to observe the table beside us had the same thing and there’s came with dressing in a small dish. My husband thought the French fries he had were delicious
Great Staff, great food, beautiful setting, good value.
Great food, drinks and service from Jeff and Dane !!!! A place we go ever trip to Kauai !
The staff were incredibly nice and personable. The manager talked with us about the history of the manor and brought us blankets when we got a bit chilly. Wonderful experience.
Wonderful buffet. Prime rib and things. But the fudge. Yum
So different than when 22 North was here. Our server never checked back on the food
and never acknowledged our special occasion. The food was totally under seasoned. We had to ask for salt & pepper & believe me it needed seasoning. Such a pretty site with missed potential.
Server was abrupt and irritated to be working there. Meal was served cold. Luau noise interfered with live music being played in lounge
Enjoyable evening, great atmosphere, excellent service. I would definitely recommend it to others.
It was a rainy night and very chilly when the 3 of us sat down for dinner and my friend said to the hostess, “it’s so cold—can you bring us a blanket?” And the hostess said,”oh sure, I’ll be right back.” Well she came right back with 3 plush blankets!!! I thought she was kidding! Gaylords is in my opinion the best place to eat in Lihue when you want a nice dinner in a beautiful place—the blankets really topped it off!. The warm focaccia bread with olive oil for starters was great—the short ribs so tender and tasty. My friend loved her Kauai prawns and pasta. Food is always delicious and servers attentive and friendly. My favorite restaurant for lunch with girlfriends and dinner with visiting family and friends.
Firstly, although we had a reservation, we were kept waiting for 15-20 minutes for a table — and many were available!
Next, our sever did not know anything about the daily specials and disappeared again to inquire. I ordered coffee with cream which never showed up until the meal was served and then without the cream. Five minutes later the cream arrived. He never once offered to refill my coffee so we paid a semi-ridiculous price for only one cup! The entrees were pretty good but pretty skimpy so both my husband and I left hungry. (We’re quite fit and don’t eat a whole lot, btw, but it wasn’t enough for us)
After lunch we were the only table left so we sat and talked but neither the server or anybody ever came to offer more water, much less coffee.
Next time we’ll drive a bit and go to Keoki’s. Unfortunately Gaylords is now off our list.
Food was good and the server was very nice, but we felt neglected at times. It wasn't very busy and they were perhaps short staffed.
Sunday brunch at a tourist spot. Nice setup and good food. Get there early for more options and fresher fare.
Amazing experience and great food
The Gaylord never disappoints as we have been coming here for years. Our server was amazing and the food was delicious. They only had one bar tender so drinks were a bit slow coming out.
Enjoyed our dinner at Gaylord's which is in old plantation home. Loved the bar--cozy setting in what was the living room. Stayed after dinner for live piano in the bar. Food delicious, especially fresh fish. Pork tenderloin was a little dry. Great mai tais, made with Koloa rum--local and has tasting room on property.
Bring a coat and maybe a rain jacket, we were cold and a bit wet as it was raining lightly and windy, I know this is Kauai but it got chilly in the evening. They provide blankets , a nice touch but that should tell you something. Food was ho hum. I went back to the condo and made a sandwich.
Bobby was an excellent server. Food was top notch.
Quality of food not good for the price. Our experience in previous years was much better. The luau, however, is outstanding.
A wonderfully beautiful setting filled with great music for a great evening.
