We have been to the Gaylord in Schaumburg before, so since we live in Chicago, we decided to give this location a try. The food here is excellent, but the service is quite lacking. I expected the restaurant to be more crowded on a Saturday night, but it was rather empty. The waiter couldn't get our drink orders right! Three of us ordered dirty martinis with blue cheese olives. I asked the waiter if they had blue cheese olives and he said they did. My husband ordered a gimlet on the rocks. The martinis not only came out not 'dirty' but there were no olives in any of them. The gimlet was served in a martini glass. When we asked for the blue cheese olives (the waiter seemed quite old and we didn't want to confuse him by re-ordering our drinks dirty) we were brought regular pimento olives. My husband's gimlet was served in a martini glass with no ice. So the waiter brought over a glass of ice and proceeded to attempt to pour gimlet from the martini glass into the glass of ice. We offered to help, but he refused and then spilled part of the drink on the table! The food was very good, but the service was slow. We were hoping that this would be our new 'go to' Indian restaurant since Jaipur closed, but we'll have to keep looking. The Gaylord in the suburbs is much better that the Chicago location when it comes to service, which is a main reason people go out rather than ordering in!
The restaurant was closed by city as the license was revoked. as mentioned on Gaylord India doors. we spent lots of money in taxi fair to go to Gaylord. Open table should reimburse as it .
Servers could be a bit more attentive. If you are new to this restaurant, you may not know what to do even though it is a buffet. Luckily, I was with a friend who had eaten there before.
The food was very good......as always. However, we were disappointed that they have
stopped serving the sauces with vegetables and papadum. It was a lovely nibble to
have with cocktails and wine prior to ordering. The maitre d'was nice enough to bring us
a small serving...............but with raw onions to dip ????
I recommend Gaylord's highly, the food is delicious and reasonably priced and the service is excellent. For outstanding Indian cuisine, this restaurant is a must !
Very consistent quality of food. The service is always excellent.
I went solo for dinner and was treated like royalty.
Lazy staff AND severely under staffed. Took forever to get served. One of my friends had a birthday that day and it wasn't acknowledged. And you were out of ice cream. Terrible experience. We will not be back!!!
Good food. Loved the shrimp fried rice Briyana and the eggplant
an excellent choice for Indian food - in fact, surprisingly good!!
We originally booked based upon location but were pleasantly surprised - the food and service was great and that is what counts the most
