Stepping from the sidewalk through an unmarked smoked glass door into an intimate atmosphere of fine dining. The evening was as relaxing and enjoyable as hoped for.
Although I’ve been to this restaurant many times over the years, this is the first time we visited under the current head chef. The place was quite full, and quite noisy, more than usual. The food was excellent as expected, with my flounder being cooked perfectly, as were the vegetables underneath it. Wine list is relatively brief, but well thought out, and approachable. Variety of the menu is seafood heavy, but has interesting items such as lamb neck. Will be great to go back after a few months hopefully with less COVID-19 frenzy.
most people would save a place like this for a special occasion but I chose to treat every day like a special occasion so I say.. don’t wait… go.. and go often!
Our favorite restaurant in New Orleans. Impeccable service and food.
Fabulous service and the nicest most warm restaurant owner, Patrick. Thank you for making our evening so special!
Food was delicious! Gautreau's is definitely at the top of our list of restaurants when we visit New Orleans in the future.
It may be a "taste" thing, but we found this place a bit stuffy and pretentious.
Wonderful experience, food was excellent, service on top of their game and Patrick was a wonderful host...get the chicken!
Amazing meal experience here. Can’t wait to go back.
A really good experience. It was more a locals place but still easily accessible. The food was great as was the service and the welcome was warm and friendly. We highly recommend Gatreau's.
Always a favorite. My only regret is that I don't get there more often. Excellent apps, salads and entrees. Great service and very elegant, yet intimate, atmosphere.
Gautreau's was the perfect place for a birthday celebration!
I had the baby romaine salad and flounder as my entree. An they were both delicious
This restaurant is a hidden gem that is a local’s favorite. Everything was exception and the owner is fantastic. A must visit New Orleans classic.
We were a party of 4. The food was beyond amazing, but what made it extra special was the owner! He cares so much and makes sure you feel like family. He truly made us loyal fans for life! Get the steak, it'll blow your mind!
We have been dining at Gautreau's for many years. It remains an outstanding example of what a truly great eating experience should be. Excellent food served effortlessly (at least from the diner's perspective).
Best meal in 2021
Visiting New Orleans and checking on Michelin Star Restaurants. The food was superb and the waiter was very friendly.
Everything is prefect. From the moment you walk in and Patrick seats you, you are in for the best meal and dining experience in New Orleans.
Quaint, charming restaurant hidden in the uptown neighborhood. Highly recommend the filet, flounder, chicken, and beef tartare. I’ve had better fois gras, but overall a delightful experience. We will be back soon!
Delightful French-inspired food with excellent service. Take your time and enjoy a slow meal. There are no wrong choices on the menu.
Excellent restaurant with a great wine list. Can’t go wrong dining here.
I used to live in New Orleans area and brought my father here for a weekend late Fathers Day dinner. The host (forgot his name!) was so professional and kind. The servers were spot on, attentive while respecting space. The food was perfect for our meal. We will definitely return. It’s a little chilly so bring sport coat. All NOLA locals here, which is the place you want to eat!
Food was outstanding - the duck confit was the best I’ve ever had. Service was attentive but not intrusive . I left my hat and backpack and the restaurant and did not discover it until I got back to my hotel. When I called the restaurant the owner assisted on sending it over himself. Ambience is like attending a private party with friends. Overall a wonderful experience.
A perfect meal in every way. Spectacular food and impeccable service in a beautiful room. Thank you for making our 30th wedding anniversary a night to remember- the restaurant is as good as when we visited on our honeymoon.
Patrick recommended a wine that my companion was not familiar with. After tasting it, she really enjoyed it. It was a Viognier from California.
personal touch by the owner was appreciated, ambiance and familiarity/comfort of the evening was very inviting. The chicken dinner was delicious as was the grouper. Highly recommend for an enjoyable evening.
I arranged this dinner for a special birthday celebration, and I could not have hoped for a better outcome! The food, service, and overall environment were too notch.
Gautreau's is better than ever. Don't miss it. Very creative and excellent menu.
Lovely as always. Great food, great service. It is a small space so it can get loud.
Great food and great service, as always. It was good to see the restaurant full after COVID.
As always, it was wonderful.
Wonderful ambiance and everything was absolutely delicious!
Friendly staff greeted us. Glass wine selections and menu interesting and varied. Food well prepared- fish served very warm- right out of pan to table- unusual for restaurant fish but important. Himachi dish was fresh and excellent. Soup was spiced to perfection.
Fish entrees- Hake and Haddock both presented beautifully and well cooked with innovated accompaniments. Creme brûlée dessert was perfectly produced . Obviously a bastion for Uptown New Orleans crowd to eat and meet, but also a wonderful presentation of modern New Orleans cuisine with an Uptown twist. Worth a return visit.
Amazing food and great service!
As I have said many times, this is the hidden gem of Uptown New Orleans fine dining. It doesn't get any better than this. Gentlemen, please wear a jacket... everyone from Uptown does!
Can’t say enough about this restaurant. The food is always delicious and the service excellent. My only problem is that I live a thousand miles away and can only go there when I visit. If you are a native, this restaurant should be on your bucket list.
Excellent food, professional service. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Best food for us in Nee Orleans secret for locals only.
Excellent as always
