This is a great restaurant. They have had the same servers for years. The Chef has put together a great menu. The gazpacho was so flavorful. The roast chicken is always great!
Another extraordinary evening courtesy of Patrick and his crew. My only concern lies with Patrick’s immortal soul, having so obviously been traded to the Devil in exchange for food service perfection all these years. But perhaps even the Devil could be convinced to trade it back for a plate of Gautreau’s amazing Red Snapper. Or even the chicken. Ah, but I digress.
We all love Gautreau’s. If you’re still reading this, please, call Patrick, make a reservation and go. You’ll be glad you did.
Thank you for opening on the Saturday that Hurricane Barry made landfall. It was literally a refuge of calm during a storm. The room was filled with folks enjoying
a chance to get out of the house and away from the over hyped weather media frenzy.
Phenomenal food and fantastic service in an intimate environment. Every thing we ordered was first rate. Can’t wait to come back!
I had the Halibut which was probably one of the best dishes I have ever had!
Gautreau's is our go-to restaurant whether it is to celebrate a special occasion or just get away from the kitchen. Patrick is the consummate host, the staff is friendly and efficient and the food is always topnotch.
Excellent evening. Whole party of six enjoyed it. !!!!!!
As usual and always our dining experiences at Gautreau's are extraordinary and amazing from the moment we enter the restaurant until the moment we leave the restaurant. Their fabulous hospitality, and attention to every detail and perfection in all they do to make your evening memorable in every way is insurpassable and most appreciated. We are always looking forward to our next visit to Gautreau's!
Incredible food and very attentive staff!
Geautreau's Restaruant is amazing. The gazpacho with crab was hands down the best gazpacho I've had. Flavors were spot on with the perfect mix of seasoning. Three of our party of four got the Halibut which was prepared excellent and enjoyed by all. My son got Red Snapper....also an excellent choice. Desert was delicious! I can't wait till my next trip to New Orleans....I'll be baaack! :)
One of our favorite restaurants in the city. A “go to “ because it is always excellent. Wine list, service and food always top notch without being stuffy.
Menu is simple yet imaginative. Roasted chicken doesn’t sound like much but...soups are always delicious.
Friday evening date with my wife began with a warm, hospitable welcome from Patrick the proprietor.
A cozy table for two was enhanced by gorgeous red rose buds. The service, meal, and beverages were all perfect as always. The dining room is small but the ability to talk, hear, and unwind are ideal.
Exquisite cuisine and service in a historic house that thrives despite the absence of a sign outside! The best we've found in NO.
Our overall experience was great but when you enter you are literally in the middle of the dining room and the noise level was pretty loud. Great food wonderful service would definitely return for another visit.
The food was absolutely delicious and the service could not have been better!
We hosted our business partners from Dallas and Miami.
Everyone said it was their new favorite go to place in town. Always great!
Gautreau's is a consistently superb dining experience. My wife and I don't go often enough but every time we do just with come away wowed by the food, the service, and the gentility of the restaurant. Our waitress Sandra made great suggestions for food and wine and was attentive without being intrusive (a pet peeve of ours). Same with the owner (who seemed to know everyone that was there) who just passed through the dining room occasionally and seemed very pleased with his well-oiled machine. And why not? This is what fine dining without the stuffiness should always be like.
All and all I was not very impressed. However, the carrot ginger soup of outstanding! Everything else was just adequate.
Great Food.. Unique Flavors Great price value
My family thoroughly enjoyed the experience of dining at Gautreau's. The entrance is tucked away in a residential area and there are flowers surrounding the adjacent sidewalk. The dining room is on the smaller side and very intimate - even though the room is not huge, there is still enough room between tables to feel comfortably separate from other diners. The service was only bested by the food -- highly professional and attentive staff. I had beet salad to start (incredible flavor palate) and yellowfin tuna for dinner. The flavors were incredible, the fish was cooked excellently, and the plating was attractive. We split a creme brulee for dessert and it was the perfect cap to a delightful meal.
Clearly, Gautreau's prefers that you leave children at home. Instead of just telling us this or posting on their website, we experienced two hours of discomfort as staff ignored my child or looked visibly irritated. When we left, the owner remarked "well, she was well-behaved." This hostile environment is something I am unaccustomed to as a frequent patron of high-end New Orleans restaurants.
Please note: we were the only diners for the first 30 minutes, which makes our treatment even more perplexing.
The food was fine- the empanada was very good as was the agnolotti, but the rest was mediocre.
This is such a special restaurant! We felt welcome
from the moment we were graciously met at the door by the maitre d’ until we said good by to our server Benjamin. We called ahead and asked to have a chilled bottle of our favorite Champagne waiting for us at our table to celebrate a milestone in our lives and the evening unfolded beautifully from there. There were beautiful roses on our table and a porcelain candle lit lantern with images of Paris. It was nice to see men wearing sport coats!
The chef is an old family friend so we asked him to choose his favorites from the menu. We were so happy!
Classic restaurant offering a welcome alternative to the trendy, industrial setting found in so many newer establishments. Consistently excellent cuisine ranging from simple comfort food to more adventurous meals. Quality service. Dining for grown-ups!
Intimate, quaint, friendly and outstanding food and service!
Outstanding selection of seafood and other creole standards (e.g. duck). The preparation and presentation both brought a great experience to our table. Flavors that make you want to behave like your at home rather than a nice dinner - think licking your plate :) The staff was great and convinced, via their descriptions and familiarity with the menu, some of our party to really expand their horizons. Will definitely be back.
We enjoyed everything about this restaurant. The food and service was excellent!!! We will definitely go again.
We had a great time celebrating my daughters Birthday. Food, service, and ambience for as good.
My favorite restaurant. Quality service! Food is consistently superb and the bread is addictive! Love the small cozy atmosphere.
We have visited this restaurant for 10 yrs. The noise level was terrible! You couldn’t even have a conversation. They had a bachelorette party of about 12 that was SO loud. Therefore, many other tables were loud because of them. It totally ruined the dining experience. I’m not sure we will be back. So disappointed. This wasn’t a fine dining experience.
The service was excellent and the food was phenomenal. The Duck Confit appetizer is an absolute “gotta have” menu item, that will set the tone for the rest of the meal. The table setting was surprisingly appropriately decorated for our anniversary. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
The taxi driver had no idea where this was located. The only notable exterior locator are the house numbers! So exciting. I double checked to confirm and onto the adventure! The locals knew each other- it appeared a college administrative business meeting and a another party celebrating a birthday. All were well dressed- men wearing jackets.
The staff were readily welcoming and available to answer questions about the nights specials. My date and I have no complaints about the atmosphere, or menu selection. We raved about our experience to others attending the conference over the weekend.
I would recommend Gautreau’s as a destination for a dining experience.
Amazing food. Annie was our waitress. She was great. Woo go back
Had a 6:30 reservation on a Saturday night. Dining room was not crowded upon arrival and we were seated immediately. Dining room is on the smaller, intimate side but tables are laid out with sufficient room. As the evening progressed, dining room became more crowded and the noise level rose, but never got excessive.
Service was excellent the entire night. Staff was attentive without being intrusive. Timing of courses was spot on. Drinks, water and wine glasses were never empty. Warm bread was always available.
For appetizers, our threesome ordered a roasted beet salad, the vegetarian empanadas and the duck confit. All were excellent. For mains, one of our party ordered the filet and the other two ordered a sautéed triple tail special. Mains were perfectly cooked and delicious. Deserts included the creme brûlée, the banana split and the chocolate bouchon - nothing complex but we enjoyed them all.
The wine list offered quite a few selections at reasonable pricing.
All in all, we really enjoyed ourselves - we will return.
Excellent meal and an unassuming yet elegant dining experience. Empanada was flavorful and both haddock and red snapper dishes prepared perfectly in taste and texture. Delicious.
Great classic French cuisine. Nice neighborhood location. Excellent food & service.
We LOVED everything. There was a bizarre cast of characters in this usually local’s place. Two guys in referee outfits and shorts, a table of half naked women, and two dwarfs in matching tops all at separate tables.
The food was great , we ordered ,
potato leek soup , beet salad , sea bass special and
Halibut fish , all was good and Camille was our server and Patrick game over and introduced himself
Wonderful restaurant ! Great experience !!
Great meal, great service as usual. Our server, Anna, was spectacular...guided us through the menu, selected some wines for us, and was never very far away. Great job, great evening.
Quaint dining room. The food was fantastic. We will be back again
