Gautreau's - JEWEL of a Restaurant. Gaurtreau's is one of those restaurants that combines ambiance, hospitality and a fine menu with such ease and grace that you cannot help feeling that you are special every time you dine here. The beautifully constructed menu is combined with a complex selection of wines to enhance the palette. The service is impeccable and timed to perfection. The small space is cozily decadent and the food is delicious. Recently our table enjoyed the red snapper with dashi broth, squash soup and scallops and drum paired with a bright Sancerre. Truly one of my favorites restaurants in the world is in my neighborhood!
Exceptional vegetarian dish beautifully presented. Where else vichyssoise sprinkled with crabmeat?
We were a bit turned off by the decor. Carpet looked old and the wallpaper is very out dated. Food was good, but not of the quality I would expect for the cost of the dining.
A great meal at Gautreau's as always. Excellent cool cucumber soup on a very hot evening. Several other great appetizers with foie gras or duck confit. Tonight the fish special was skate, it was excellent. The service here is always personal and fantastic. A great New Orleans restaurant among many to choose from, well worth the drive.
We had a wonderful meal; each of our three participants enjoyed their entrees, which were varied; I had the duck with the risotto and mole sauce; I have not been a fan of risotto, but loved the dish. Service was superb as well. The only negative--and it was a small one--is that by prime time on Friday (around 7:30), conversation became more difficult when the general noise level increased--too many people enjoying themselves.
Food is tremendous. The chef changes the menu often enough to make it always interesting. Service is some of the best anywhere. Have a consistent wait staff that always is very efficient and friendly.
Wonderful, everything about it❤️
Coolinary special was amazing! I had watermelon gazpacho with crab, my friend had the salad. We chose a cava, see photo, that complimented our meal perfectly! We both had the drum, it was slightly crisp and served over a bed of fresh lightly sautéed veggies. We both ordered one of each dessert so we could try them. The creme brûlée’s top was beautifully done with perfect toasted sugar and the chocolate fudge cake with homemade salted caramel ice cream was a lovely mix of salty and sweet.
Our third time and can’t wait to return. Delicious and genteel. Simply the best.
Food was exceptional, even better than I remembered. Already made reservations to go back in 2 weeks!!
Food and service were excellent. The room was VERY loud and noisy
Great food! A+
Gautreau’s is consistently amazing! Delicious doesn’t begin to describe the food and the service is impeccably discreet and attentive. Perfect for any occasion.
Gracious ambiance and excellent cuisine!
Background classical music was perfect.
Very enjoyable dining experience ...
Excellent dining! Great, friendly service! Lively atmosphere! A perfect choice for either a mid- week night out or a special celebration.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in New Orleans. The service is personable but not overbearing. The food is excellent. The ambience is great.
Amazing food! Such a great experience from ambiance to quality and the menu. Every course was beautifully prepared and delicious. Excellent and affordable wine list!
This was my second visit and I was excited to share it with a new friend.
The atmosphere is lovely, the food is wonderful and the service is generally very good although this time our server seemed a little condescending.
The reastaurant is hard to find but my friend and I agreed it was worth the wait. We truly enjoyed the menu and food. I would like a little more about "Madame X," the painting of Emilie Gautrau, the New Orleans French creole who was the toast of Paris until the painting, by John Singer Sargeant, appeared at a Parisian exhibition. Years past I recall framed letters she sent from France to her Louisiana relatives
So quiet I could hear other patrons eating. Foie gras was a patte and not what I expected. Filet was really good. Place seemed fixated on making people feel like regulars.
Hadn't been in years and decided to give it another try. It was excellent! Do yourself a favor and stop in. The duck confit app is out of this world!
we were greeted courteously at the door. our waiter attended us quickly and courteously, and was efficient in explaining specials.
the food arrived quickly, and was hot and was very tasty.
the sauces were excellent.
we ordered dessert, and we were very glad we did,
all in all a very good experience, and we will return.
Another wonderful meal at Gautreau's. Foie gras appetizer is amazing, as well as the steak tartare. The halibut is truly a wonderful fish dish. the special pompano was also very good. This is a small restaurant in a residential neighborhood, but the food and service are as good as any in the city. Well worth the drive to uptown New Orleans.
Just Amazing! All around! Thank You Patrick for everything:) we will be back.
Some famous movie star was seated next to us. No one bothered him for an autograph or a selfie. Very professional of the waitstaff and management.
Very very good food and polished service.
Beautiful restaurant in a beautiful neighborhood.
Very well chosen wines and modestly priced.
This is a great restaurant. They have had the same servers for years. The Chef has put together a great menu. The gazpacho was so flavorful. The roast chicken is always great!
Another extraordinary evening courtesy of Patrick and his crew. My only concern lies with Patrick’s immortal soul, having so obviously been traded to the Devil in exchange for food service perfection all these years. But perhaps even the Devil could be convinced to trade it back for a plate of Gautreau’s amazing Red Snapper. Or even the chicken. Ah, but I digress.
We all love Gautreau’s. If you’re still reading this, please, call Patrick, make a reservation and go. You’ll be glad you did.
Thank you for opening on the Saturday that Hurricane Barry made landfall. It was literally a refuge of calm during a storm. The room was filled with folks enjoying
a chance to get out of the house and away from the over hyped weather media frenzy.
Phenomenal food and fantastic service in an intimate environment. Every thing we ordered was first rate. Can’t wait to come back!
I had the Halibut which was probably one of the best dishes I have ever had!
Gautreau's is our go-to restaurant whether it is to celebrate a special occasion or just get away from the kitchen. Patrick is the consummate host, the staff is friendly and efficient and the food is always topnotch.
Excellent evening. Whole party of six enjoyed it. !!!!!!
As usual and always our dining experiences at Gautreau's are extraordinary and amazing from the moment we enter the restaurant until the moment we leave the restaurant. Their fabulous hospitality, and attention to every detail and perfection in all they do to make your evening memorable in every way is insurpassable and most appreciated. We are always looking forward to our next visit to Gautreau's!
Incredible food and very attentive staff!
Geautreau's Restaruant is amazing. The gazpacho with crab was hands down the best gazpacho I've had. Flavors were spot on with the perfect mix of seasoning. Three of our party of four got the Halibut which was prepared excellent and enjoyed by all. My son got Red Snapper....also an excellent choice. Desert was delicious! I can't wait till my next trip to New Orleans....I'll be baaack! :)
One of our favorite restaurants in the city. A “go to “ because it is always excellent. Wine list, service and food always top notch without being stuffy.
Menu is simple yet imaginative. Roasted chicken doesn’t sound like much but...soups are always delicious.
