Gatsby by Windsor Arms
Interior designer Jacques Dinel of Dinel Designs brought British influence to the restaurant, setting the atmosphere of luxurious comfort. The Living Room is decorated with original print art from the UK and a formal dining area with original Charles Pachter paintings. Furnished with oversized Chesterfields and comfortable leather seating, The Living Room is perfect for conducting your meetings, get-togethers or hosting formal dining events.
Portions were small, given the price. Service was unacceptable since there was only 1 other table occupied in the restaurant.
Lovely quiet luncheon at The Gatsby. No blaring music or wall of TV screens. Not enough classic places like this around.
Very weird experience. I actually love the old school decor of the room - opulent and eclectic. We made the reservation after hearing the pianist at brunch in the courtyard. His music makes for a lovely background ambiance. And the service was great. Amin is perfection. Did not love the menu choices. But the weirdest thing Is that there was literally NO ONE there when we arrived at 7 pm. We didn’t leave until after 10 and only four other people showed up. The pianist was playing solely for us for the first hour. They must be losing a fortune. They really should rebrand the restaurant. I live in the neighborhood and haven’t been there in 10 years. It is unlikely I will go back.
The menu didn't have many options and the food was just okay. It was a bit expensive. it is a beautiful landmark, I was expecting more.
They do not answer their telephone. I called them 6 times to ask a question and no answer. They do not keep their website updated and they do not keep your information you have on them updated. They do not open their main dining room for dinners and they do not tell you that. They push you into an off side small dingy room for dinner. Their menu is not updated - even though it was the 16th of Feb they were still using ONLY the Valentine's Feb 14 fixed menu. Very limited choices of food. What turned out to be surprisingly good was the food and the presentation of the food - excellent - 10+ rating. New and great chef.
The owner very dominant and controlling. Get rid of him - but can't cause he owns the place. He was nasty to his staff. Every time we asked for some flexibility (one of the guests had an allergy) they had to ask him and then he always said no.
So, a very mixed bag.
Very expensive. $120 per person. Wine was extra.
We went for Winterlicious and had the best time! The best service we could have asked for! Highly reccomend!
We will not be returning to this restaurant.
The food was unexceptional at best.
The decor was pretty mixed up and and a new and totally comprehensive makeover is required.
I found it delightful and I would attend again. The food was awesome just wish it was a little hotter
The decor at Gatsby at Windsor Arms is lovely, but the ambiance was marred by the loud music playing over the speakers. I had to ask the bartender to turn it down because I was almost shouting to talk to my lunch companion. Then the food arrived. I ordered fish and chips. There was too much batter on the fish and too much salt on the fries. My lunch companion ordered the lamb burger that didn't appear as described. There was no sign of any chutney on the burger and the menu said that there would be. It's like the chef got mixed up between the lamb and bison burgers. This restaurant is close to where I work so I may be back for lunch to see if it was just a bad day when we went for the first time or I may try the afternoon tea next time.
With great expectations for a fabulous evening, we were very disappointed with such a high-level establishment that the Windsor Arms is.
We were greeted by the bartender and not by s host/hostess. We were escorted to the back dining room that was totally unoccupied. Nobody offered to take our winter coats so we simply put them on the chairs. Not a very elegant setting for a fine dining room.
The service was simple, at best, but no real effort to make our stay anything other than ordinary.
The food that followed was not worthy of the price point. The calamari and scallops were bland, not memorable. My wife’s peasant was dry and not very eatable. She left half to take home to try snd salvage it for a later lunch. No effort was made to get her opinion. My pasta special of the day was the best dish of the four we had.
We decided to come in order to evaluate the restaurant for future dinners with our top clients.
We will not return and we certainly will not recommend this restaurant to anybody else.
Thank you for such a wonderful kosher dinner! We all enjoyed it.
Enjoyable and cozy atmosphere for a quiet get together.
The server was friendly, polite, professional and provided excellent service.
The chef made a very nice VEGAN GLUTEN FREE dish! I would recommend it as an option for vegetarians
My daughters birthday
Gorgeous and upscale
Great service from Jordan
Very personable and a pleasure to converse with
Went for Summerlicious. Very good choices on the menu. The food and presentation were superb. Draught beer was a little expensive at $11 a glass
Whenever I invite a friend/s to dinner @ the living room it's always been a wonderful experience. The service by the wait staff is amazing. The food is never disappointing. Not too much, not to little just the right amount. Love the Living Room.
The Living Room's decor is totally opulent, with leather chairs with brass tacks and oversized gold fixture. Impressive and cozy. The server was attentive and friendly. The bread was a bit dried out. The gnocchi was very heavy and oily - old style food rather than the more modern, fresh style of food. I guess it matched the room and hits the spot for their target market. The lemon dessert was unusual and delicious. I think I would not return for the living room lunch or dinner, but the afternoon tea in another more light and airy room looked like a good place to meet friends.
We had a reservation for the Sunday brunch and were kept waiting 15-20 minutes for our table despite the fact that we could see many open tables that seemed to take an eternity to get set up. The room was nice and the mimosas were kept reasonably well topped up throughout our meal. The rest of the service was quite spotty and plates seemed to pile up on several tables. The variety of dishes was quite good and there were generous amounts of oysters, shrimp, and crab legs, but the rest of the dishes were inconsistent at best. Thankfully we had a Groupon, but I would not recommend this at the regular prices charged.
The food was very good for the men (shrimp, scallops). The haddock was a little bit dry for the ladies.
Excellent brunch. Enjoyed all the food and desserts. Delicious mimosas
We were going to the spa & decided to stop in for lunch. We had a wonderful time , food was great-fantastic ambience like going back in time to proper dining & surroundings. Our waiter was attentive but allowed us time to chat. Great experience
So terrible, I don't know where to begin! We were 3 friends out for Saturday brunch. Room was almost empty, outdated furnishings and clearly long past its prime. Then it took quite a few minutes for anyone to come over to serve us. We asked for coffee -took about 10 minutes and it was cold. We sent it back. I suggested then that we leave but my friends are very nice and didn't want to make a scene. Next round of coffee was better, hot and decent flavour so we decided to give the place a chance. In the meantime another group of 3 arrived and they must have been known to the servers as they got a lot of attention. Finally server came over and took our food order. It took at least 30 minutes for the food to finally come and the table that arrived after us was served many minutes prior to us. Scrambled eggs were cold and so yellow they must have been powdered, toast was cold, no bacon as ordered, no breakfast potatoes as promised on the menu. That was finally enough for my friends to agree we would leave. The waiter was on his way to our table with a bowl of french fries (this is what they meant by breakfast potatoes I guess) and a plate of cold dry looking bacon and seemed surprised we were leaving. We listed all the problems we had encountered from the moment we arrived; he seemed genuinely surprised. I told the hostess at the door why we were leaving; she offered to get the Manager and I told her not to bother; we had already wasted 90 minutes of our time that we would never get back, and we were still hungry! All I can say is the Windsor Arms has clearly gone downhill. And it is sad, because the Courtyard Cafe used to be a fabulous place to eat. Don't go!
Best grilled calamari that I've ever had.
The table service was exceptional.
Winterlicious was a good introduction to your venue.
A really cool spot that we didn't know existed until recently. A beautiful boutique experience, great rooms and seating, very good service.
The evening at the living room was amazing the atmosphere to the food and the wine.
It was a great night
Not to happy with the service we waited for your main dish for about an hour.
Every year I go for winterlicious to Living room . This year it wasn't like before. Food was just OK, not bad. Dining room was changed , looks like a bar now with a very limited dining section. Room was freezing cold. It might be because of winterlicious lunch. It is sad to see my favorite place like that.
Terrible food and slow service.
Horrible experience. The restaurant overbooked what the kitchen could handle - the waitress even told us this. Made the reservation a week in advance. The day before out lunch they call to tell me the menu is the Winterlicious fixed menu. When i asked how I was to know the full menu was not available they said "we are calling you". We waited 1 hour for our mains and the risotto was inedible.
Don't waste your time or money
Service was very slow....I think the kitchen was overwhelmed with Brunch, Lunch and Winterlicious.
Actually, went to the Windsor Arms Hotel for a Kosher Meal. I was surprised that the Windsor Arms Hotel actually had a Kosher Restaurant.
I was also surprised that the Courtyard Café no longer serves dinner.
Only Sunday Brunch.
In the Living Room Restaurant , you are offered a Fixed Price 3 Course Dinner for $75.00.
If you want a steak, it's an extra $15.00.
If you want a burger, you subtract $10.00.
No a la carte.
The atmosphere is upscale.
The Server brings you the cutlery wrapped in a napkin and sealed with a kosher emblem.
I think you get 2 knives, 3 forks and 2 spoons, all wrapped up.
The food is decent if not quite spectacular.
With the Park Hyatt closed, this is the only upscale kosher restaurant in Downtown Toronto.
I would come back here, I wanted kosher food in an upscale environment.
The turkey was tasteless. There were no lemons provided with the oysters until asked. There was no horseradish provided with the roast beef until asked. The crab legs were not sufficiently cracked. I asked for a nut cracker to remedy this issue and it took the waiter 15 minutes to find a cracker. I suspect there was only one in the dining room that was making its rounds.
My water glass was dirty. I had to request a clean glass. The cutlery was removed by the wait staff as soon as I left my chair to select another course. No cutlery was provided with the plates. I had to request a new set and had to ask the wait staff to not clear the knife & fork. There was a lack of oversight and management of the buffet from the head waiter.
The ladies washroom was filthy. Many of the toilets had not been properly flushed and paper towels were left on the floor. There should have been a staff member checking to ensure the washroom was clean and the toilets flushed.
All in all my Christmas dinner was a disappointment! I expected elegance and better quality food. It was certainly not worth the $100.
Very attentive staff. The portions were a good size. Wine list was extensive. I found the dressing too bland for the Cobb salad but the oysters were delicious.
This restaurant could use some 'sprucing up' with regards to attention to detail/cleanliness.
There were alot of crumbs on the floor and on the windowsill adjoining our table. The restaurant wasn't busy so I sensed they had been there for awhile. When our waiter noticed them he reached across me to try to wipe them up. He also offered me a soup Spoon from inside his apron :(
Perfect food, service and ambiance. Will definitely go back.
Great food, friendly service and a nice atmosphere
Went here for lunch with my GF for summerlicious 2017. My expectations were low and they were met. Lunch took over an hour - which is fine on a weekend but on a Monday, I need to get back to work. Service was slow to say the least. The food was decent I guess. Had the calamari which was rubbery as an app. The main was the best course though the timing of it from the kitchen perspective could have been better as parts of it were colder than others which is flat out disappointing. The creme brulee was literally directly out of the fridge - they must have put it in the microwave or something to heat it up a bit but the custard was as cold as milk from the fridge. Overall - I thought it was over priced and service was very slow. I have no inclination to ever return.
