Food was okay. Service was disappointing. We had hoped for and expected better. Very expensive meal, not great value :(
Sokol took such great care of us, his service is above and beyond. 10/10 would recommend for the amazing food, ambiance and hospitality - perfect experience!
It was a cozy and lovely place in a quiet corner of the street in Yorkville neighbourhood.
I chose outdoor sitting but as I was passing through thr indoor sitting they also looked very comfy.
Outdoor was quiet with low music. I hate patios that open to streets with cars racing by, it’s like I am eating and inhaling pollution at the same time. This was tucked in.
I love fish so digged into the haddock n chips. They got me this absolutely heavenly cocktail of bourbon and scotch mixed with other stuff. Yummm. I was sold. It wasn’t sweet n syrupy. Just right!
Service was great! Of course a revisit is guaranteed.
Steak was a fatty cut
Nice patio, enjoyable staff.
Food was beyond sub-par for the prices associated with it. Although we informed our waiter of a egg and dairy allergy at the beginning of our night, the salmon (highly underwhelming) was served on a bed of vegetables doused in butter. We proceeded to get our cheque and leave.
Great location on a quiet street off Bloor. Loved their patio, and our friendly waiter. Food was pricey, though, and not impressive enough to warrant $$$. Still, we had a nice time, and might be back again someday.
Meal was perfect
We decided to have our anniversary dinner at Gatsby and found the ambiance very nice. The patio was secluded and quiet. The service was not what we expected. For a high end restaurant we expected more attention and a happy anniversary since we let the restaurant know we were celebrating 34 years. Usually the manager will come out and offer a champagne toast but this did not happen. The tea leaves were sloppy - they did not filter with the sieve provided. The wine was very expensive for a small bottle. I must commend the chef on the short ribs and Cornish hen. They were done very well. Overall it was an okay experience. Will we return? Probably not. The overall experience was mediocre for a hefty price tag.
wonderful small patio with lots of privacy from a quiet street - great food and beverages and the service was outstanding.
Better not to go there unless you are down for spending so much for an improvised dirty patio on the curb.
Terrific service, nice quiet patio, made it work even though it was raining.
Nice variety of options on the menu. Certainly would return
Terrific service. The food was delicious a combination of lemon and sweet ginger and my husband loved the fish and chips. I love the small pretty patio feeling. We will return
Very pleasant time Great service food was very good
The perfect restaurant for an outdoor patio dinner. Perfect food, elegant, great service.
Great little patio!
Host was great. Service was rusty. Cocktail was terrible. Food was excellent.
Very pleasant. Lovely and quiet. Good service and food.
Service was nice and very friendly. I really enjoyed my egg Benedict with smoked salmon. The Hollandaise sauce was tasty. The patio was nice with a breeze. The fish and chips, the piece of fish was a good portion, nice and thick. Overall, it was a good experience!
decent food but the service was subpar. from the moment we entered it seemed very unenthusiastic. felt like a chain restaurant at a mediocre level.
We waited and waited to even find someone to seat us. Had to go into the hotel and walked around inside until someone found us. They told us to sit at any table and a server would show up. No one showed up for 15 minutes. Not even a menu, or cutlery. The couple next to us stood up and walked away after also not being served and told us "good luck waiting". We both found ourselves at other restaurants nearby.
We came for a specific meal that was on the menu... and they weren't offering it.. So, we chose another main and starter... Our starter never arrived... The service was lackluster and the food was less than average. Very disappointed.
The patio is very elegant and atmospheric, perfect for a date! It was sometimes difficult to grab our server's attention to place an order, but service was very friendly and warm. The food was great, drinks were strong(!) and the price was reasonable considering we have an appetizer, entree, and drinks. We will definitely return in the future.
It was perfect.
No COVID regulations were followed in regards to distancing. Service was horrible but the food was good
Food was great! Over cooked the steak just a bit but the amazing sauce made up for it. Service was quite rusty, but it was the first day back since the lockdown so that’s probably why. Ordered a dish that never came, had to remind the waiter three times for the wine bottle, dishes were mixed up with the wrong sides, but it’s all good! Happy to be back dining.
Our server was absolutely amazing. Creative with our cocktails and very very nice. We will be back!
The restaurant and hotel were very tired looking- and the food was not great. Would not go back.
Food was amazing can’t wait to go post Covid restrictions, service was great a bit slow on getting the cheque but otherwise a good experience.
Wonderful and thoughtful service, excellent food, portion is good, ambience is great. Highly recommended for dinner/lunch outing or special events. Will come back again!
Ugly design, even for an imaginary speakeasy. Chairs especially poor--my nose was about plate level when food arrived and I am not short. Overrated and overpriced.
We order the salmon with beef sauce and quinoa, it was amazing!
we paired it with a Rose wine to die for!
The portion was not big, but after the appetizer and the main dish we where so satisfied we didn’t even need dessert.
It’s a really beautiful place and we really enjoy the service.
A friend recommended Gatsby and I booked a table for my wife and I on a Saturday evening.
We had a very nice evening in this restaurant, very quiet and nice atmosphere, the waiter was very efficient and nice, very good food.
We will go back.
Loved this place! Great ambiance, live music, service, and food. It's not crowded at all, so that makes it easy to talk to the person you're with since it's quiet, and the live music gives a nice elegant feel to the restaurant. The drinks were also spectacular, as was the food. Waiter was also very kind. Will definitely be coming back here.
One word - Amazing!!!
No I would not recommend this restaurant. It is old, tired and lost it’s charm. Food was not worth the value. It was in the highest price range of Winterlicous lunch menu so I expected it to be close to the other restaurants in that range. At least they could have cleaned the windows. Paint was chipped. Washroom was clean by lacked amenities from what I thought should be in a well respected hotel.
The hostess wasn’t very friendly so wasn’t a great start to our first time experience. We were seated in a back room where we weren’t able to enjoy the beauty of the decor in the main dining area - wish we could have been moved.
Two of us had the French onion soup with very different experiences, one was great and the other had no flavour, different consistency and colour. Main courses were okay, the best being the acorn squash vegan meal. Desserts were delicious. One of the servers hospitality and friendliness made up for majority of the experience however once he left our table was not checked on much, since we were tucked away in a back corner, and we felt abandoned. Ambience is beautiful, expect complete silence if you are placed in the back room.
I would visit again, however only to try their high tea, not to visit the Gatsby.
Great service and fun ambiance. The food was good but the mains were a bit simple. Portion size was good
Overall it was priced more for the name then the food
We had a reservation at The Gatsby but were seated in a different restaurant in the hotel without any explanation. When another diner questioned the server, she was told they rented out The Gatsby for a private function, but still took reservations. The Winterlicious menu was disappointing.
