Pre Boston marathon meal
I really try to give this place a change but it always disappoints. The bloody mary tasted watered down and the french toast chicken sandwich was a big fail, the fried chicken was burned. There's also limited options for those who only eat white meat so this isn't the place for me.
Great brunch options with classics and then fun twists-- I got the fried chicken french toast sandwich and it was amazing! The decor is really cute as well.
was hoping since it was Marathon weekend, that Gather would have carried the 26.2 Sam Adams beer. Otherwise, food and service were very good.
Food was ok.
The restaurant is comfortable. The staff is very friendly. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the food is not very good.
I got the Fish tacos - terrible. It was fried fish (small amount) and shredded carrots. No real sauce.
Too many other places to go with great food - will not return,
While Gather is located in a cool space and has a nice ambiance, the food isn't anything to get excited about. I went to Sunday brunch with friends to celebrate one friend's birthday before a visit to the ICA. We all thought the food was ok, probably not worth the price. One friend got the "make your own waffle" option and her toppings were messily just plopped on top of the waffle. I got the french onion soup which was good, but not something I would order again. My last friend got the huevos rancheros which was promising, but the tortillas were cold, eggs overcooked, and way too much butter/oil used in the rice. I can imagine during the summer this may be a fun place to go to get a drink since you can look out and see the water, but maybe not for Sunday brunch.
Not my favorite place. The food was ok, the view was nice and the staff were wonderful.
Saturday afternoon lunch - excellent food but menu was more brunch-like than lunch. Salads were delicious.
Food was underwhelming and not really worth the price. Small portions and small menu. Decent drink menu. I love sangria however I did not like there’s it pretty much just tasted like straight rum.
Easter brunch was great!
My dining experience at Gather was average. The waitress didn't go out of her way to help us with the menu and didn't make us feel welcomed. My steak was cooked perfectly, but it was lacking in flavor. The potatoes were cooked well, but nothing special that I couldn't have made at home. I also thought it could have come with a vegetable. All in all I would say our experience was "fine." Nothing to write home about and I definitely wouldn't return.
We ordered our food promptly but the time between the appetizer and dinner was really long. We were pretty much ignored by the server, despite staring at empty app plates for maybe 20 minutes. The server was attentive to other tables around us though. Our main dish came out an hour after we sat down- and it tasted pretty good, definitely the highlight of the meal. Then we had another LONG wait for dessert, during which we finished our bottle of water and watched other tables get refilled water bottles. After I placed the empty bottle at the edge of the table it was finally refilled. The bread pudding for dessert was slightly burnt at the edges but the ice cream was good. Overall 3.5 stars, the service really bummed us out.
Food was amazing. I got the Veggie Burger and was one of the best ones I have had. Hummus Plate was amazing as well. Service was great and great vibe in the space.
Wonderful w great wait staff! Andrew took great care and tended to details
Nora, our server was awesome
I have never left a restaurant review before but feel compelled to comment on a pretty terrible dining experience I had here.
The food left much to be desired. I ordered a linguine with seafood dish. The seafood did not taste fresh or appetizing in any way. There wasn’t much in the dish to begin with, and I couldn’t stomach what little there was. The tomato sauce that came on the dish was not very flavorful. I then ordered the fried dough dessert, which I expected to be somewhat like beignets in terms of texture. What I got instead was something like crunchy, cinnamon sugar-dusted pita chips with a side of mediocre frosting that was too sweet.
The service here was lacking as well. The waitress seemed to stop by purely out of obligation, already walking away as she asked how we were doing without even waiting for a response. She also never addressed my friend who was dining with me.
I will not be back for dinner, but the environment seemed to be decent for drinks.
Atmosphere seemed fun. Our server was fine, pleasant and accomodating, but food was disappointing. Salad and appetizer food was clearly prepped ahead and sat around, got wilted and merely reheated. Was not fresh, tasty. The entrees were better, had flavor, but also did not seem very freshly prepared, dried out pork etc. Was perhaps because we chose the restaurant week menu and those items were prepared differently? Shouldn't be the case.
Really solid, fresh, tasty brunch. Place is small so reservations recommended!
Great location as we were going to the ICA, and it's right across the street. The tables were incredibly close together and the chairs were not very comfortable, so it felt crowded and people were on top of one another. The waitress did not come to our table for at least 20 minutes. When she finally got around to us she was friendly. The food was definitely not anything to write home about. My salmon was dry and somewhat hard. The sauces were good, but the vegetables were overcooked and not very tasty. The bar seemed like the highlight of the restaurant.
Loved make your own waffle, Sunday!
Gather was exactly what my family was looking for in a place for lunch: great food, solid drink menu, fun atmosphere, and a view!
Best Onion soup in Boston!...seriously!
Delicious food! Friendly service and very cute ambiance. Great with kids!
Food was very good and atmosphere was perfect.
This restaurant was amazing! Super cute and great food. Waffle Sunday is the best! The service was great as well. It is a good location and we parked right outside the restaurant. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to others.
Had a great time on a “triple” date with two other couples. Food and service were excellent. We’ll be back for sure.
I went to gather with three friends to celebrate a birthday. Everyone enjoyed their meal and our server was super friendly and attentive. The drinks were odd - my friend ordered an old fashioned in which the bartender mashed the orange and cherry on bottom. The white sangria didn't taste like it has any alcohol but we still drank them. Despite these beverages we had a great experience and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for some good food and ambiance.
Food was great!
Went here with my boyfriend to just grab dinner for date night. The decor was nice and modern. Food was okay....nothing special or great. Service was good not bad but not very attentive. It was our first time there and unfortunately we didn't enjoy ourselves. It would be our first and last time there and I wouldn't recommend to a friend to visit.
Can’t wait to come back ....😁
Birthday lunch with co-workers! We had a great meal, the service was fast and the server was extremely kind to bring me a birthday dessert treat! Loved the meal and plan to return
Don't order the fish tacos. They were extremely bland. They need to change the recipe and add some flavor and spice. The French onion soup was outstanding. The gnocchi was delicious as well as the chopped salad. I would go back. It's a cool venue.
It was good! Atmosphere was decent
Drinks were good!
Fish tacos are the bomb! - and the flatbread was excellent - plenty to share for 2!!
The menu is very appealing; from grilled octopus to chicken and waffles and lots in between. It turned out to be good, but not great. The short rib gnocchi was overpowered by rosemary but otherwise somehow under seasoned...chunks of beed alongside gnocchi but not wrapped together in a rich sauce as one might hope. The flat iron steak was perfectly cooked but also under seasoned. The roasted potatoes and the cauliflower Gratin were excellent, as was the polenta fries appetizer (though we wished the mushroom fondue was cheesier).
I’d return but only if it was convenient, mainly to try the chicken and waffles.
Our food and drinks were both delicious. It was very empty on a Tuesday night but completely enjoyable.
A regular lunch spot for me. Great menu, great food at not-so-outrageous prices for downtown Boston.
Work lunch-to celebrate holiday season
Food poor which is not my typical experience
Felt embarrassed selecting Gather
My guests had grilled cheese w bacon and each barely ate their sandwiches
I ordered rare salmon on a salad - salmon very over cooked on an overly refrigerated salad
Waitress oblivious to my guests’ dissatisfaction
Was a lovely lunch.
