Ambiance yes! Service yes! Food yes! ESP the brioche caviar and duck confit.
It was an amazing experience for the first time beings there. The service was great and quick. Food was excellent! Totally recommend this place! From the entry to exit, it was awesome !
Went here for Valentine's day. Salads came out almost instantly, followed by 1+ hour wait for our entrees. We would have ordered a dessert or more drinks but our waitress was nowhere to be found. The restaurant wasn't even at full capacity. When I did get my entree, my gnocchi was mush in the center, so obviously not cooked through.
Romantic, old San Francisco style restaurant. Good food and friendly service.
Great place to have high quality French food in a casual setting.
The food is amazing, you really feel in France!
The service was espectacular! Jelena and Stefan are incredible waitress and waiter
Very nice, service excellent.
This was a great place for a relaxing business dinner. From the ambiance, to the service, to the food - everything was perfect.
Extremely slow service. Entrees were all overcooked - salads and desserts were good. We were seated in an empty dining room, no one came to take our drink orders, we had to get up and order from the bar and take back to our table.
Beautiful atmosphere, very romantic, cozy and relaxing. The food was OK, the duck confit didn't stand out, as I was disappointed with the root vegetables it comes with as most of them were uncooked. The food definitely has a "rustic" flare to it. I am disappointed that I didn't get the steak frites as it looked amazing at other tables. The service was what put me off. Not very friendly and very curt. I will go back for a drink at the bar and try the steak frites.
Excellent service and food.
Nice seating on second floor.
Great experience and delicious food!
Lovely staff, great food. Thoroughly enjoyable experience.
A great location for catching up with friends over excellent wine and great French food. We were seated upstairs and had very good service.
A wonderful surprise. The entire dinning experience was lovely. The restaurant is beautifully designed. The food was exceptional. And the service was warm and inviting. A must visit.
as always, it was a wonderful meal with exceptional service.
Nice restaurant with an interesting menu and fair prices. Food was good. We choose different dishes (canard, striped bass and roasted chicken) and everyone was pleased. Friendly and timely service. Good price/quality ratio.
Excellent service and great food. Not too noisy at all and nice ambience. I had the octopus appetizer and it was tender and nicely done. The mussel entre was delicious, clean and tasty.
Quite an unexpected dinner for New Year Eve! We were all impressed from atmosphere, to service and to the meals served.
Classic French cuisine in a gorgeous setting
French casual, good variety of food, attentive service. Got a same day reservation and sat downstairs, which was a lot more quiet than upstairs.
The octopus appetizer was outstanding. The chicken main course was also delicious.
Like stepping into a French bistro, Gaspar is a warm, welcoming place. Close to everything in downtown SF, the food is amazing and the service is top notch. We had robust mussels with chorizo and fries, steak and fries and the most delicious risotto that I can remember. Dish prices are pricey, but in SF that seems to be the norm. An inviting bar is tucked in behind the main dining room which warrants another visit.
Pleasant surprise from this small but mighty restaurant. My guests all enjoyed their wonderful meals and appreciated the professional service from the friendly staff.
We showed up at 9:40 for a 9:45 pm reservation and they said they were closed. OpenTable deserves one star—this happens a lot.
Birthday dinner for a loved one. The staff were outstanding and the food was delicious.
The service was outstanding. We weren't hurried or rushed, but staff was attentive as needed. Great place for conversation and catching up. The food was good.
Special shout-out to our waiter on Monday evening 9/30/2019. He provided a style of service that is expected in Europe, but rare (and missed) in the US.
Reception was warm, food amazing, service was excellent. I’ll definitely be back there.
Great restaurant for a meal meant to impress.
Super cute atmosphere, host was welcoming and made it easy for us - we had a drink at the bar downstairs first and loved our dinner. Fresh oysters were yummy!
If you are in the mood for escargot and steak frites there is not a better place in SF!
Also, it’s easily accessible for wheelchairs on first floor.
Gaspar is one of my regular restaurants because the food is great, as is the service. And it is a very comfortable brasserie.
Excellent service, yes, but the food is out of this world delicious. The short rib entree is probably the best I've ever had, anywhere.
Food and service are both exemplary. We had a comfortable table downstairs and were able to have a long conversation. One of my go-to places in SF.
Sooo good, just had lunch unfortunately we forgot to take our phones for pictures!! The special 6 oysters paired with champagne is the bomb. I have never had raw oysters before. Only BBQ have I eaten but these were so good and the paired champagne was perfect.
I had the chicken with Madeira sauce very good, my husband had the grilled octopus, and baby roasted potatoes, I don’t care for grilled octopus but I did try the potatoes very good. Then husband had the steak with fries oh my goodness very good entree as well. Dessert we had the hot chocolate cake with chocolate gelato would’ve preferred vanilla gelato but so good with the wine. Lunch was more than we normally pay but only in the city for 2 day and night so we splurged!! $ 189.00. Plus tip over $200.00.
The food was AMAZING!! Drinks were great! Service was perfect! The place itself is beautiful. We sat upstairs and it was really peaceful. We had an awesome time!
Everyone loved what they ordered. 2 diners were especially taken with the steak frites - and loved the frites. I had the steak tartar that was prepared how it is done in Europe, with the raw egg - delicious. And my other dining companions loved the salade Nicoise. All portions were very generous. The food was fresh and prepared with care. We will do this again.
As always the food is superb and the staff attentive. One of my favorite spots.
