For this bottling of Old Vine Zinfandel, the vines are more than 95 years in age and some cases, nearly 130 years old! The complexity of the Old Vine Zinfandel lies in the spicy notes that are unique to these historic properties. This vintage presents alluring aromatics of blackberry cobbler, fresh cranberries with notes of white pepper, cola, and dried herbs. Went here for Valentine's day. Salads came out almost instantly, followed by 1+ hour wait for our entrees. We would have ordered a dessert or more drinks but our waitress was nowhere to be found. The restaurant wasn't even at full capacity. When I did get my entree, my gnocchi was mush in the center, so obviously not cooked through.

Extremely slow service. Entrees were all overcooked - salads and desserts were good. We were seated in an empty dining room, no one came to take our drink orders, we had to get up and order from the bar and take back to our table.

Beautiful atmosphere, very romantic, cozy and relaxing. The food was OK, the duck confit didn't stand out, as I was disappointed with the root vegetables it comes with as most of them were uncooked. The food definitely has a "rustic" flare to it. I am disappointed that I didn't get the steak frites as it looked amazing at other tables. The service was what put me off. Not very friendly and very curt. I will go back for a drink at the bar and try the steak frites.

Like stepping into a French bistro, Gaspar is a warm, welcoming place. Close to everything in downtown SF, the food is amazing and the service is top notch. We had robust mussels with chorizo and fries, steak and fries and the most delicious risotto that I can remember. Dish prices are pricey, but in SF that seems to be the norm. An inviting bar is tucked in behind the main dining room which warrants another visit.

Sooo good, just had lunch unfortunately we forgot to take our phones for pictures!! The special 6 oysters paired with champagne is the bomb. I have never had raw oysters before. Only BBQ have I eaten but these were so good and the paired champagne was perfect. I had the chicken with Madeira sauce very good, my husband had the grilled octopus, and baby roasted potatoes, I don’t care for grilled octopus but I did try the potatoes very good. Then husband had the steak with fries oh my goodness very good entree as well. Dessert we had the hot chocolate cake with chocolate gelato would’ve preferred vanilla gelato but so good with the wine. Lunch was more than we normally pay but only in the city for 2 day and night so we splurged!! $ 189.00. Plus tip over $200.00.

Everyone loved what they ordered. 2 diners were especially taken with the steak frites - and loved the frites. I had the steak tartar that was prepared how it is done in Europe, with the raw egg - delicious. And my other dining companions loved the salade Nicoise. All portions were very generous. The food was fresh and prepared with care. We will do this again.
