Gaslamp Fish House

Good food and attentive service.
Meh. No, less than meh.
This is right down town in the Gaslamp, so if you’re looking for something right in the middle of it, this is it. The food and cocktails were good, my waitress was very attentive. I had the special, which was paella, it was pretty good, it was huge though, so definitely shareable. Overall good, but if I were to go back to San Diego, I don’t know if I’d seek it out again.
Nice happy hour menu for light dinner. Relaxed environment and good variety of siahes
The crab cake was delicious...the Lobster tacos not so much. The lobster was chewy, which makes me believe that it wan't fresh.
Our server was amazing! Food was good—a bit under seasoned but still tasty. Overall, good experience and I would definitely go back.
Went on August 27th before Concert at Symphony Hall. We were a bit stressed and everyone was so Incredibly accommodating! Our Waiter Pat I believe was his name, was fast and very cool. He quickly narrowed down good Options after asking what we like. The Perfect waiter! We even had time for a second drink! We go to a lot of restaurants in the Gaslamp and have been disappointed many times, But this night was a Big, Happy Surprise. My Lady is very picky about fish and both Fish Dishes were Awesome! We are bringing a Couple to Gaslamp Fish House this Weekend! Get the word out...this place Rocks!
Excellent food with great drinks. Great service from Alienah. Definitely coming back.
Lunch combo is the deal.
Clam chowder and fish taco for $12
Many other soup salad fish combos
Ate outside and people watched!
Noisy! Food was good. Convenient location.
Food terrible (crab cake was awful & quacamole tasted pre-frozen) only stayed for appetizers. Place needs a good scrub down. Booths were stickey & martini glass was smudged...Thank Goodness Vodka is a disinfectant!
The apps were ok but the entrees were all well flavored. The seabass, swordfish and rockfish were well executed. More of a casual fishhouse than a high end spot. Service was fine. I would go back as the food delivered even if the other elements were underwhelming.
Great time celebrating Birthdays
The food was good but the waitress was horrible 😔
Very expensive for bland food that’s over cooked.
Atmosphere was too casual but the service and food quality was top shelf
Had the Seafood Cobb salad. Asked for no blue cheese (don’t like it), & was just as well, as there was plenty of ranch dressing drizzled on to moisten it. Several shrimp & some shredded crab were a plus. Would have loved a little tomato or veg tho for health. Good service & ambience. Husband liked the Ceviche.
Good food, nice setting, courteous and fast service.
Great service! Food, outstanding. Halibut special topped with crab meat, was melt in your mouth! Ceviche presentation and taste, wow!! Pole, I have had it in Hawaii and wasn’t as good as this place! Prices, very reasonable! Don’t miss this gem on 4th Street!
We really enjoyed the outdoor dining. Our food and service were great.
The raw oysters were great and so was the bacon wrapped swordfish. The Cobb salad was huge. My husband loved the catch of the day which was Halibut. Everything came out very quickly. You must save room for their butterscotch pudding. We were surprised to see it on a menu, but we would go back just for that. It was incredible!
Was not the nice, quiet, sophisticated restaurant their website, yelp, or Facebook page said it was. Babies crying, strollers, and groups of tourists were not what I wanted my family to experience when spending well over $150 for a meal.
The service was great!
I found this place on the Gaslamp Quarter web site. The food was good, especially the mac and cheese but I will say that I was little disappointed in the atmosphere as it was more casual than the website and the cost leads you to believe.
We had apps & entrees and it was delish! Chris our bartender/server was also right on it! We will definitely be repeat customers!
We were there early before a show at the Civic Theater. Everyone was very nice and the food was great. My husband said his fish and chips were the best he has ever had. I decided to try swordfish bites wrapped with bacon and I was very pleasantly surprised. The food also came very quickly and was immediately from the kitchen - hot. I would highly recommend this establishment.
Servers April and Max are the best! We always have a good experience when there!
Not sure whether the quality of the food or service was better! Both great!
Great food and great service but a bit noisy. Great location and access to theaters. Would not recommend for a first date...
Food was excellent. I had a seafood platter and it taste very fresh.
The manager even came out to greet us and they gave us a complimentary desert for my birthday.
The ceviche tasted old and the chips were stale. The halibut was over cooked. They did bring out fresh chips when we asked. Definitely the worst dining experience we had during a week in San Diego
Food was excellent, vibe was good with live music. Server not so friendly, efficient but not too friendly. Definitely will return.
Decent but not great. Sort of expensive. Decent portions. Butterscotch pudding wayyyy too sweet.
The dish I ordered was supposed to come with half a lobster and Alaskan King crab legs. Instead, it came with half a lobster TAIL, and either the puniest "King" crab legs I have ever seen, or snow crab legs (more likely). It was pretty busy but apparently there was no time to ensure the stalls in the women's bathroom had toilet paper. Took forever to get a second drink. Had to order twice from two different people, neither of whom were our server because once the food was delivered he never showed up at our table again until I had my credit card sitting out on the table to pay.
Max (with an X) was an exceptional server. He’s a keeper!
The food lacked flavor. I was surprised by the price considering how mediocre the food was.
Just heat up the coffee a tiny bit and we have perfection! Great night, thanks.
Excellent food and service. Halibut was terrific. My husband loved there crispy lobster tacos. The seafood platter that my son and his girlfriend shared they thought was terrific. There was even spiralized zucchini pasta to accommodate our vegan friend that he thoroughly enjoyed. Staff didn't even miss a beat during the 7.1 earthquake that we felt and saw lights swaying. We definitely enjoyed.
The service is too bad and the place is too noisy.
