A lot of noise from outside distractions! Bar tender ran from behind the bar to break up a street fight! Location very poor on the corner with homeless problems outside. Food quality only fair. Place could use a face lift and more help needed to wait tables.
Made reservation for 9pm, when we showed up they stated that kitchen was closed and there’s nothing they can do. BS, why take my reservation then?
They were out of oysters and some food was slightly overcooked.
Restaurant was understaffed, tables seated throughout and only 1 server doubling as a bartender
Service was the worst part of our entire experience, they were dissmisve, rude, and short with my group. The food was great little pricey but still solid.
Went for some happy hour oysters
Not good food and bad service
Looked for a place in the GQ for an afternoon lunch. Rather ordinary service and food quality.
We ordered the halibut but it was dried. The crab cake was moist and flavorful. The clam chowder was good too. Not sure if they were short staffed but the bartender was attending to all of the table. She was good but service was a little slow for the lunch rush on a holiday weekend. The menu was a bit limited. Overall, it wasn't bad and I would go back to give it another try.
Food was very good, we were there for an early lunch so it was very quiet but was getting much busier as we were leaving so I can't say how loud it gets later in the day.
Service was quick and polite, everything was very clean, staff all wore masks.
Lobster bisque was to die for!
Ordered the rockfish and scallops. Everything was delicious though very disproportioned. Two huge filets of rockfish were on the plate against my measly three scallops. Delicious but obviously the guest with scallops was finished eating long before the other.
Food was excellent and server handled table of 9 with separate tickets flawlessly
Great food, no issues with service, very friendly and they served the food quickly. Very attentive and the place felt clean and safe.
My go to when in town. Comfortable, attentive, easy to get to.
They needed more servers and host. We were ignored for 10 mins by multiple staff members while we waited to check in with the host. We got our appetizers before our drinks. Sever was given a 12 top and completely forgot to check on us. We had to wave down a food runner to get us some water and get our server so we could order more cocktails. Our food and cocktails were excellent! We enjoyed everything we ordered and we ordered a lot. Hire more staff they looked like they were all struggling.
We selected this spot because they were one of the few that had reservations when we needed them which might have also been a warning. Upon arrival it was not crowded and was maybe a little over half full when we left.
The only really bright spot was the service which was friendly and prompt by a Russian waitress. The ambiance was casual, but not really up to expectations given the price of some of the dishes. It had kind of a stale odor to it as well.
The menu sounded like it had potential......I had the Chilean Sea Bass which unfortunately was seriously overcooked (based on other reviews that seems to be a trend). I would have sent it back, but we were on a tight schedule. I would have preferred smaller portions and higher quality. The other main courses were un-remarkable and/or overpriced and overcooked as well. The Calamari was rubbery (not the normal rings either) and the oysters were rather small although they tasted OK. One bright spot was the cole slaw which was actually quite good....
Not much thought given to food presentation either.
In summary....it was one of my worst experiences ever at a high end restaurant. Only the waitstaff excelled......and I could handle the ambience if the food lived up to expectations......the kitchen needs a lot of work.....both at a creativity level and quality.
Great food and service.
Great variety of seafood with lots of flavor.
good food, great service, neighborhood under renovation, but great deal overall
Amazing food, great service! We came here during our weekend trip to San Diego and it was amazing. The food was fantastic and we were so full at the end of dinner. Our waitress was so nice and attentive. We will come back when we visit San Diego again!
Service was great. So was the food and drinks. Reasonably priced too.
April is great. Grilled scallops and vegetable medley good presentation and excellent taste. Shrimp cocktail plentiful and ocean fresh !! Inside has pleasant open feel. Ate there for first our lunch and last dinner in San Diego.
This place's food and service are as good as the ones at the more renowned, fancier places in town. Outstanding
Great waiter, delicious food. Pub like atmosphere.
We tried different items on the menu. Must try the clam chowder. The bomb! Best. The ceviche was fresh and plentiful. The beer on taps was good. Wine selection good. Crab cakes were delicious. Reasonably priced for dinner 4.5 stars.
Ceviche, Steak and Crab was excellent - Lobster a little tough.
We loved the food and the experience we had. We were on vacation and will make this one our places to come back to on our next visit.
We had a last minute reservation for 830pm didn't make it until 845 and the staff was so friendly! We were the last order of the night and had the whole restaurant to ourselves. Food was quick and fresh and amazing! We were afraid we were going to get bottom of the barrel with the food but it was amazing!
Food was very good - and portion size was considerable. Great casual atmosphere and the service was great. Definitely recommend.
It was only 7:00 and they were out of many items. Food didn’t taste good. Not fresh. Too sour. I felt bad for the 3 staff who were trying to keep things going. Go to the Water Grill instead. It’s amazing
Both food orders wrong, although comped one meal. Appetizer took more than 30 minutes to come out, resturantwas not at all busy. Other guests served that came after us got meals before our apps. Server seemed to care less about us. Other server in that section looked like she was great with guests. We will not be back.
Food and service were A+... Definitely coming back here again the next time we’re down in San Diego.
The lobster bisque was excellent. The calamari was a little fishy tasting as was the crab cakes. The shrimp was a little over cooked.
Waitress was awesome and they sat us right away outside like we asked (but the outside patio is on a busy street and there was a lot of drunk stuff happening on the street). The food was good - I had the scallops and they were great - but it's way over-priced for what you get. Glasses of wine were too much money for the pour. Overall decent experience but would not rush back. (although I would hire our waitress in a second!!)
Beautiful view!!! Parking was difficult which took away from the overall experience. Food was tasty. Must get the garlic crab bread, key lime pie and creme brûlée!!
Tasty food. Fast to serve. Avoid ordering all your meal at the same time if you plan to eat first your soup then your main course. They were out of items from the menu like catch of the day and lobster tacos.
Sat down at 7:45 pm, we ordered a shellfish tower and a few apps, 8:30pm no apps yet but the server takes our dinner order! At 8:45 our apps arrived and at 8:55 our dinners arrived! My king crab dinner was ice cold and I had to send it back!! Horrible experience
Gaslamp Fish House is a very good spot...chill vibe, attentive & friendly service, good food...for a quick casual bite, i would recommend this spot
Had great potential and hostess, server, and manager were very nice but they were extremely short staffed. Was freezing throughout the whole meal and asked for heater to be put on 3 times and it still wasn’t take care of until our neighboring table, who had a baby, asked two more times. If they weren’t understaffed it would have been a much better experience. The atmosphere itself was nice, but the food is over-priced, but probably comparable to other establishments. I’d go there again.
