About Gary's on Spring
Gary's on Spring is a casual fine dining restaurant set in a two story brick building built in 1885. We have dining on the main floor with a walk-out covered patio. Moving upstairs you will find a bar/lounge with couches and exposed brick walls, accompanied by an open air deck to enjoy alfresco cocktails and dining.

Service was personal, friendly and overall excellent! Entree portions are very generous and cooked perfectly, very tasty. Their decor is cozy and casually elegant. Upstairs outdoor deck perfect for cocktails or dining outdoors. They don't get too crowded so quite the gem of a restaurant for anytime when others are booked and have slow service. Highly recommend!
Another great experience at Gary's! We had a large group who wanted to socialize, and our server worked around our group deftly and unobtrusively. He was very friendly and kindly separated a few checks for us, which I know is a pain and we were very appreciative! The bartender is always awesome and creates very well-crafted cocktails. The Old-Fashioned is perfect and the Justified is a must-try! The food, as always, was flawless. We had scallops, the shrimp and scallops special, duck, lamb, and of course the lobster bisque. We sent back empty plates all around.
Also, a big thanks for accommodating our large group in the bar, which was my dad's request for his birthday meal.
Gary's is a go-to for my husband and I. Consistently delicious, always good if not great service, and the bartender is a gem. Portions are huge for the dollar. We always have the lobster bisque. Then we shared a baby Brown which to me is the best in the city. A well-crafted Bookers Old fashioned completed our meal. Sat on the patio as it was a beautiful night. Always leave happy and satisfied.
The food was fine (once we got over seeing one of the staff taking a leak in the garden as we arrived -- and no, I am NOT kidding). But I have no idea where this restaurant finds (or how it trains) its waiters. The service was so poor that even the good food was not enough to encourage me to return.
It was a lovely evening and we had a table on the upstairs, outside patio. Service was
attentive and quick. Each of us at the table bought our own bottle of wine, enough for
the evening and a little to take home. It was a special occasion and we were able to
concentrate on our conversation, rather than having to talk over any music.
We were seated on the patio per our request on Open Table and were so pleased that we were able to enjoy the beautiful evening outdoors! The food and wine were fantastic but we were underwhelmed with the service. Thankfully we weren't in a rush and we will definitely be back!
Restaurant was very nice and the hostess was super nice. Our waiter was excellent and very knowledgeable about the food. I had the potato crusted flounder and it was pretty tasteless. The Brussels sprouts were good. My friend had the shrimp and grits but said she would not order it again. The barbecue was to potent.
Gary's Never Fails To Deliver! Always consistent excellent food and service. This was our first time up in the bar and discovered a fabulous bartender - a great mixologist. The primary reason we go do Louisville (a 75 mile one way drive) is to go to this restaurant.
Not quite sure what is going on here. It has been a favorite place. A few weeks ago we made a reservation on a Saturday Night, when we arrived there was a sign on the door saying the restaurant was closed that day. Rather strange, but we realize that sometimes mix ups occur with Open Table. This Friday, we went there with another couple to celebrate a birthday. Despite being Friday night the place was virtually empty. In the past it has been very busy. The food, was not up to the level we've had there before, although the portions are huge. Lamb chops (what I always love most there) were overdone. Lobster Bisque seemed a bit "off" Even though we were in no hurry, the service seemed slow and servers seemed somewhat inexperienced. It was definitely not the wonderful experience and food we've had there before.
Excellent service, good food, great waiter. Took my mother for her birthday she enjoyed it very much especially the hot brown appetizer. We ate downstairs it was quiet, looked around the rest of the place, upstairs is a nice bar area, and they have an upstairs and downstairs patio area. We will go back soon.
Family and I had a remarkable dinner at Gray's this past Saturday night. Food and service were absolutely amazing. The hostess gives a gem of a tour of the old building. We were lucky enough this past Saturday to meet Chef Baker. Great experience and wonderful evening all around. Food is fantastic!
