Gardunos of Mexico Cocina & Cantina- Cottonwood Mall
We planned a special dinner for my sister in law. The service was super slow it took an hour before the server took our order. It wasn’t busy at all. Not at all pleased.
I would have given them a perfect score on the strength of the food, but 30 minutes wait for it was disappointing. They were not busy this day at lunch. Better luck next time.
We were in town for Fiesta & wanted to take our crew family (party of 13) out for dinner.
Used Open Table to make reservations which was fast & easy. Michaela was our server & she was amazing!
She was very friendly & accommodating & made sure we had everything we needed the whole time,
Food was delicious & plentiful, the Soapapillas were fresh & hot & the Coconut Margaritas are the best we’ve ever tasted.
Overall it was a five star experience & we will certainly be back next year~thank you to your great staff!!
Excellent service for our party of 10.
Restaurant was very slow, food came out cold, the service was very slow, took over an hour for all the plates to come out correctly!
We felt very welcome from the moment we stepped in the door. We ate outside and Victor took care of us. When I asked about vegetarian meals he shared a menu with vegetarian dishes. The veggie chimichanga and apple jalapeño slaw were AMAZING. The sopapilla fries were decorated special for our date with strawberry roses.
Took 10 minutes to have them tell us “we’re looking for a server for your table”... not sure why they didn’t have a server foo the table before we got seated. Then she finally appeared and didn’t even introduce herself and took our orders etc. Food came out and was decent but when it came time to pay she was no where to be found and we had to ask for the free sopaipillas which took even longer and she still didn’t come back with the ticket. Overall not a good experience because of the wait staff. Was interesting how the service was so rough considering it was a Friday and the place wasn’t even busy.
Apptezer good bbn it had to get our own refill on water. Meal came bbn out and looked fantastic but when went to put plates down top plate had old food on it and fell on our food. Other order not right other food cold. Got ours to be remade and brought back in about 3 minutes when we had waited approx 50 minutes. It was same food. So we talked to manager and told our concerns and ended up leaving. We went to sonic since we didnt have time for another sit down meal. So very disappointed
Terrible service. Took an hour and a half to get food. Slow service. Food cold. Manager came to apologize. When check was delivered it was the wrong check. We saw multiple families walk out.
I ordered shrimp fajitas and asked to leave off the green peppers. They did, but were very skimpy on the red peppers and onions. Generous on the shrimp. 👍🏼
Wasn’t the friendliest group of people working there! Our server was super nice though. The food was very spicy even the “milder” sauce on my burrito was spicy.
Everything was great-the only issue was my daughter ordered flautas and received enchiladas-no problem, our server took them back to the kitchen. When he brought her plate back the cook had simply turned the enchiladas over on the grill (cheese and all and melted it ) and sent it back to the table-still enchiladas and not flautas. Our server was great and comped her meal, which she decided to eat since she was hungry.
The food was good but they didn’t have my online
Reservation on their list when we arrived
We went on Fathers Day. Sat on the patio not busy there, but we got the worst service we have ever received at any resturaunt we have been in. The menu has changed and the waitress advised there would be no way to get my favorite meal. The lady that came in and sat at the table next to us got her iced tea and had to yell at the waitress to get her back to the table after 20 or so minutes. The waitress asked at that time if she was ready to order, the lady explained how long she had been there paid for her tea and left. As for us, after our meal arrived, we asked the person who delivered it (not our waitress) for silverware. After 10 or so minutes, I got up and found silverware on the patio bar top. I hate stiffing wait persons, so she got a minimum tip.
Strike 1: Can no longer get my favorite meal.
Strike 2: lack of service
There will be no further strikes, we will not be back
Part of the order was misplaced. We were not charged but the rest of our order came out in stages with several minutes between them. My food the nachos was almost cold when I received it. I also resented the forced tip because of the size of our party.
I have other choices for my Mexican fare here in Albuquerque. I will use them in the future.
The restaurant was quite empty for a Saturday night. It took much too long to even get water. The food took an extraordinarily long time to prepare, and the food was cold when it finally got to the table. Half the orders were wrong (the waiter showed us the order and he wrote the correct items down) and had to be sent back. We had to ask for sopapillas and they can to us half cooked and dripping with oil. I came from Colorado to visit home and Gardunos was my first stop. It was nothing like it used to be. Very disappointed!
We are new to Albuquerque and have not had a chance to eat out much. We decided to go out for our 27th anniversary. Gardunos had indoor and outdoor seating. Our server was very attentive. I had the combo Fajitas and my wife had the enchiladas. The food was excellent. The fajitas were sizzling when they came out and had the best flavor. We will be going back. Oh and the Coconut Margaritas were fantastic! Thanks Gardunos for making our anniversary dinner one to remember!
Changed servers 3 times. None were very attentive.
It was a Mother’s Day brunch and many of the food items were out and were slow to be refilled. They added prime rib for this special brunch and it was out for over an hour.
Made a reservation for 11am. When we got there (10:55am), was told it would be another 30 minute wait...no big deal. 35 minutes later, have not been called. Checked with hostess, was told they were preparing our table and it wouldn't be much longer. 12pm - still haven't been seated. Sent my husband to the hostess stand and all of a sudden, the empty table we had seen for at least 15 minutes, was now available. Server was not great, not very attentive. The food was ok. Makes sense why we rarely ever go there.
The service was so slow, server didn't bother to write things down so repeatedly had to ask us and the table next to us to remind him what we ordered and still got it wrong, drinks and food took almost 2 hrs. Tracked him down to pay since we were going to be late and will never go back.
Explains why it was so empty, really poor service for an early Saturday evening with a group of 15 people.
The place and service was great. We had a table of 10 and our waiter was attentive and didnt seem flustered by us at all. HOWEVER, he did get 2 of our orders wrong, in particular, I was given the wrong food twice. My aunt had the wrong food once that we had to send back. The problem is because the food is covered in cheese and salsa, they had a hard time telling which dish was dish especially because we all ordered a combination. So they were guessing at what was an enchilada vs a burrito vs a tamale. But I wont complain about that, otherwise, for me, the food wasnt very tasty at all, for my family though they all enjoyed their food.
Great service and the atmosphere is great our waiter was great
Service was very poor on the evening we were at the restaurant. (Sunday) The staff was nice but might have been overwhelmed. We had to ask for kids menus twice and then I had to find the hostess to get them myself. Drinks took about 20 minutes to get to our table. Food took a long time to get to the table but was good. We had to ask for Sopapillas which normally are brought to your table after your meal. I had to track down the server to get our check. The staff was pleasant but just very slow that night.
The happy hour at Gardunos used to be the best in town. I can't say that is the case anymore. The prices for happy hour have gone up, the so called buffet was basically just tortilla chips with red chile poured on top. They now have a new policy which states that unless your order an alcoholic beverage, they will charge you for the buffet, even if you are sitting at a table with others that are drinking.
With all of these changes, Gardunos happy hour will be the last place I think of when I think "happy hour".
It's no longer the Garduños I use to know. The food was ok and really not worth what they charge. And the service was some of the worse I've experienced at a restaurant. And I eat out a lot.
Food was good, but nothing exceptional. Had to ask to get drinks refilled.
We were in Albuquerque for a business trip. We ate there Friday night and the food was so good we ate there the very next day for lunch!!!!
Our food was dropped off the tray onto the floor upon arrival to our table. We then waited another 45minutes to be served. No compensation was offered.
Food is always great! Kelsey is our go to waitress! She is the best!
It was fine but felt like a chain rather than an upscale restaurant
This was our first time we ate at Gardunos, My son and husband totally loved it !!! great food
Margaritas are good. Salsa is good, but food was mediocre. Fish tacos had nearly no fish! Our server was not attentive and we won’t be going back.
We went to the buffet brunch on Father's Day. The plates in the buffet line were filthy dirty - actually smears of dried salsa on the bottoms of the plates, the tops had been quickly rinsed. That is really disgusting to see in a buffet. When I told the hostess, she called the manager to ask for clean plates, but she didn't stop other people from taking the dirty plates and enter the buffet. I had to stop them, telling them to turn the plate over - everyone was shocked and disgusted to see tons of old food dried on the plates. The manager did come finally with clean plates, she apologized for the hostess not immediately removing the dirty plates. Really disappointing.
I love Gardunos and have been going there for years. The chips and salsa was spicy this last time! Food is always great and service is attentive.
Service was a little slow, but friendly. Food was very tasty!
Excellent place to eat and enjoy company. Would love it if they brought back their tequila lime shrimp tacos. The shrimp tacos are good, but the lime shrimp tacos are fabulous.
This is a great restaurant from service to food to friendly atmosphere to very reasonable prices!
