New dinner schedule: Tuesday to Sunday from 5pm to 9pm. HH schedule: Tuesday to Sunday 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Brunch schedule: Tuesday to Friday from 10:30am to 2:30pm, Saturday and Sunday from 9:30am to 2:30pm. New spring and summer brunch and dinner menu started on May 20th. Live music Fri & Sat.
Nestled in a historic Victorian building in the heart of vibrant downtown Los Gatos, we offer brunch, dinner, and a lively happy hour, featuring a distinctive French-Asian fusion menu with a good local twist. Open seven days a week, Gardenia also serves as a welcoming coffee house, with beans sourced from around the world. In addition, we’re a popular venue for private events, known for our inviting atmosphere and exceptional service.
Gardenia offers a unique seating experience, with traditional restaurant tables available both indoors and outdoors. For a more relaxed setting, we also provide comfortable couches in both areas—perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.

Athena waited on us. She/he/they was very attentive and helpful with questions and suggestions. We sat upstairs in the princess corner. Very cute and unexpected. Our meal was good for the price. The bread and bone marrow was memorable and the beignets was made with a different and unique batter giving it a distinct texture. Ambience was private and quiet. Music was tasteful and appropriate. Will definitely visit again and will be asking for Athena.

Gorgeous and exceedingly popular spot for brunch. Food mostly quite good, service cheerful and ambiance is terrific. My friends raved about their espresso martinis, served in gorgeous craft cocktail glasses.

Went for brunch and sat outside which was nice ambiance. The brunch menu offerings were limited and pricey. Plus there were too many add-ons that were all extra. The side order biscuit didn’t come with jam. Had to ask and that took some time. It took awhile to get coffee and even longer to get refills. There was not any artificial sweetener when we asked. The service was disjointed and so was the serving of the meals. Nobody seemed to have “ownership” of our table. We had different people taking our order, bringing the food, refilling water, etc. and the main server didn’t seem fully aware of the overall meal service status (ie did we get our meals?) I wouldn’t return.

Gardenia is my go-to spot for a special meal or just hanging out with friends. The menu is innovative and just right amount of choices so everyone can get what they want and not be overwhelmed. Service was friendly and the freshly decorated old beautiful house has so much characters. I love the Wagyu beef brisket french dip and biscuit and gravy. The lobster bisque was more of a tomato base rather than cream, it's extremely flavorful without the heaviness. I find myself craving it from time to time. The place changes menu seasonally and always use the fresh high quality ingredients. I am so grateful as a Los Gatos resident to have this addition to our downtown dining scene.

The restaurant was okay, but not great—and I wouldn’t go back. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, which unfortunately had way too much sugar. My wife could only manage a small portion before stopping entirely. I had the Chicken Katsu Sando; the flavor was decent, but the bread was a bit soggy and didn’t hold up well. The ambiance was nice and the service, while friendly, was a bit slow. Overall, it felt too expensive for the quality of the food and experience.

We'd been to Gardenia once for lunch during the week and once for brunch on a weekend; both times we very much enjoyed the food and service. Those visits were during the winter months, so we sat inside -- once downstairs and once upstairs. Last night we were again seated upstairs, but this time inside the little turret in the corner of the old Victorian-era building housing the restaurant. It was very comfortable and quiet. Last night we tried their dinner service and were not disappointed! As with our prior visits, the food was excellent. We started with the a cocktail (the Mt. Fuji) and a glass of champagne (a Brut Reserve Billecart-Salmon) , followed by the Gardenia Salad (very tasty, though we needed a knife to cut the salad greens into bite-sized portions) and the excellent Tuna Tartare (substituting for the Thai Ceviche, according to our server). We especially enjoyed the tuna's creative presentation: served in a rectangle with the beautiful tuna diced and mixed with fresh avocado puree, topped with mung bean sprouts and dots of a mild red pepper sauce. For our mains, we had the market fish (wild-caught Alaskan halibut grilled, served with bamboo rice and a grilled artichoke and the braised rabbit pasta. Both were wonderful. We also shared a chocolate mousse for dessert -- true to form, it was excellent! The service was excellent as well, as our waiter (an Italian gentleman named Raffaele, who normally works at Evvia in Palo Alto) was very knowledgeable and friendly, as were all the front of house staff we interacted with. The restaurant wasn't very busy for a Saturday night -- something that we hope will change, especially as the weather warms up and the beautiful outside dining area in front of the restaurant becomes a more popular destination. Highly recommended!
