Garden Island Grille
Great location. Good food. Good service
Didn’t like the Mai-Tai. The band was kinda loud but we sat far enough away that it didn’t bother us too much.
We were greeted at entry immediately, shown to our table, and served by friendly waitstaff. For family dining or date night, this casual place hit the spot. Food was good and happy hour mai tai was delicious!
Server was very friendly and food was delicious! If you order drinks from the bar, you may have to wait a while. I got my mai tai about 2 minutes before my lunch.
Had the fish of the day (blackened). I loved it. The rest of the group had fish and chips, fish and shrimp and a burger. Everyone enjoyed their food very much. Excellent service AND Mai Tais.
Great food and service
Entertainment most evenings
Prices much better than most restaurants in the vicinity
Great location in Old Koloa town
Very good menu
Great island ambience, great waitress, and fish was so fresh and cooked perfectly.
Ambiance and food were terrific! There was a woman playing with a man Live in a band; her name was Janet and she was excellent. She could play multiple instruments well, what a talent! The meals were fresh and tasty and the decor showed historic pictures of famous people who visited this restaurant, some of whom were Johnny Depp, Famous surfers, and cast of Jurassic World. This is a “must see and eat at” place !
We came to hear Larry Rivera sing and enjoy the food!
Oops. I gave a review of the wrong restaurant for the Garden Island Grill. The Grill is a fun, easy , not too expensive place to eat and enjoy some music. The food is good, though the menu is limited.
Seeing Larry Rivera perform again was great. However, the service has slipped since our last visit. To be truthful I think they could have added a waitress as ours was working tables all over the restaurant. Food was pretty good but not great.
Based upon reviews from other’s we decided to book a reservation. The ambiance in the garden with the live music is charming. Our service was excellent too. The food was inconsistent; fish special very good but the Mahi Mahi tacos disappointing as the fish was dry.
A fun place with a great Kauai feel - plus, great food.
We found a fantastic Hawaiian themed restaurant that looked like nothing on the outside but coming in was very cool with bamboo style huts, live music, and hula dancing. We were recommended this restaurant by the dancer earlier in the day as she taught us hula at our resort. My daughter was very excited to go show her moves. When we got there she was invited on stage and the two of them danced the Huki Lau.
The food was delicious. We had the coconut shrimp and ahi to start and shared the blackened fish taco. All was delicious.
Go check out this yummy place!!
Great food and great entertainment
This place is fun and funky--but not fit for foodies. If you want a casual place with live music, not a mainstream tourist place, and are OK with mediocre food, then you'll be happy here. We were there when there was live music, so it was pretty loud. It could be quiet at other times.
Food was pretty good and reasonably priced. Entertainment was very nice. The service while prompt seemed uncaring. Our main meals were served moments after our appetizer was delivered. The servers just seemed to be doing their job of delivering our food & drinks and nothing else....not very friendly.
Live Hawaiian music and reasonably priced food. Great place
We were attracted to the casual, slightly funky (in a good way) atmosphere and decided to go for dinner. The food was delicious and reasonably priced and there was a live musician playing. Our server was new, so a bit slow, but the other staff helped out. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and are going back tonight.
A great locally owned place in Old Koloa town. Live music at 6 with local flair. Sunday night there was a person who used to work at the Coco Palms hotel and has a couple of songs he has written that are in movie/television shows.
great atmosphere and service. live music every night from 6 to 8! both time we were there, they had great performers playing a mix of contemporary and traditional Hawaiian music. Pina coladas and coconut shrimp go very well together.
Great food. Perfect place to eat. The geckos come out onto the railing and they are so cute to watch. Every night there is live music. One of our favorite places to eat!!
Great venue for a good time. Club sandwich was especially good as were the sweet potato tacos and margaritas. Sean was an attentive server ;-)
Garden Island Grill is a nice place for a good meal after a day at the beach. Local Hawaiian music was very good and authentic. Service was good as was the food. Prices are quite reasonable. Interesting stores nearby to browse after your meal.
Despite having a reservation, we had to wait quite awhile for our table. The service was unbelievably slow with drinks taking almost half an hour to get to our table. In addition, two of our orders had rice and after waiting over an hour for food, they told us they were out of rice. Overall, the food was marginal, the service slow, and the experience lackluster.
Something on the menu for everyone at reasonable prices. Our waitress was fun!
The staff was very friendly & welcoming upon our arrival. It was our last day in Kauai & we were very happy that we took a chance on this restaurant before leaving. We did not expect that a live band would be playing, but it added to the fun ambience...albeit a little loud. The burgers were good, not great....but our friends said that the chicken wings were the best they’d had in a long time & the fish and chips (ahi ahi) was fantastic. I’d return to this restaurant if we are lucky enough to visit Kauai again. Mahalo
I think we may have been Davis's first table. This surfer dude was a lot of fun and the food and entertainment was great.
Never asked ya for drinks
Assumed we only wanted water
Great food with eclectic entertainment. Coconut shrimp and garlic shrimp linguine are especially good. Fantastic cheesecake desserts.
The restaurant served great food and a very nice ambiance. We were there on a Friday when they have a local group playing eclectic music. Very fun,
Nice place, musician was in the style of IZ so the ambiance was great, nice stage. Service was spotty, was seated with 20 minutes left of Happy Hour (6pm), it wasn't very busy yet we weren't asked until 5:59 for our drink order. Food was good, highly recommend the Chicken sandwich. Wanted another drink but our table seemed to be invisible so we passed on another round. Would have liked to stay longer to listen to the musician (Blane? Blake?). Nice people there though, would definitely recommend.
This is a fun place for a casual lunch or dinner. The food was good and it has a warm ambiance. There was a local musician playing and she did a good job not too loud and were able to converse.
Great food great music great service!!!!!
Went on a Friday evening. The food was wonderful along with the service! As an added bonus, live music that was outstanding! Enjoyed every minute of it!!
Fantastic place. Great food and drinks extremely reasonable price great staff and fantastic music
Service was great. Food was great and a value. Hidden gem in old Koloa Town on Kauai. Staff was super friendly.
Well worth a visit! Didn’t much like the live music
Live music during dinner was enjoyable but simply way too loud.
Just kind of average. Nothing to get excited about
This was our second time eating there and the "chicken sandwich" tasted like they caught a wild rooster and tried to serve that. The "chicken" was VERY tough to cut and stringy. I could not eat it..... very poor
