Garde East at Vineyard Haven Marina is an award-winning beachfront restaurant oasis on Martha’s Vineyard, located in quaint Vineyard Haven, just steps from the town’s ferry terminal.

The restaurant features the Island’s bounty from both sea and land, inspired by refined, classic techniques from French cuisine. The setting at Garde East is truly unique offering food and beverage service in a nautical dining room, outdoor decks and courtyard, or on the property’s private beach overlooking boats in Vineyard Haven Marina.

Garde East is open for dinner service Memorial Day Weekend (5/25-5/27).
Dinner service Tuesdays-Sundays will begin on 5/27.
Lunch and Docktail service Fridays-Sundays will begin on 6/06.
Garde East will be open 7 days a week for the season beginning on 6/16.

We spent a day in Martha’s Vineyard for my bachelorette trip and it ended up being really sucky weather; rainy, cold and windy. We showed up to Garde East an hour early for our reservation just to get out of the weather and they already had our table to go and set with beautiful flowers; we were even able to pick a Spotify playlist for the whole restaurant. We had Ari and Mitch as our waiters and had the absolute best time. One of my bridesmaids shoes broke on our walk there and they went and bought her new shoes and then proceeded to return them as they were the wrong size. Then they fixed her shoes with super glue. They even offered to brave the bad weather to take pictures of us on the top deck. The food and drinks were amazing and there was a beautiful view despite the weather. Thank you Ari and Mitch for such a great experience, Garde East was our favorite part of our day on Martha’s Vineyard.

The staff is what made the experience. The wine manager specialist(?) was so accommodating in helping me find the right wine. The food while delayed arriving to us because of a large party ahead of us was just fine because of the wait staff’s care and concern about our experience. The views were lovely (we were seated on an upper covered balcony with marina views). We will be back.

Upscale restaurant with fantastic harbor views. Our server,Gresa, was excellent. Had lobster burrata as an appetizer and it was very good. Had sea-bass as an entree . Presentation was great but it was undercooked. My wife had the halibut and was happy with it.

Excellent meal from salads, Arctic Char, chicken and wonderful wine. Finished with a delicious lemon crème dessert. The setting was so beautiful, sitting on a covered porch, overlooking Vineyard Haven harbor. And, best of all, the service was superb, with Ari, training a lovely young colleague, Zeze. We will definitely be coming back to this hidden gem.

The new chef knocked it out of the park with fresh original menu items, and the usual awesome service. This is the island’s hidden gem for fine dining. And it’s one if the best wine lists anywhere. Thanks for a great start to the season!!

Greeted warmly, excellent meal. Had a party here at the end of the season last year. So memorable it prompted our return on this opening night this year. A lovely compound antique structure with several spaces, outdoors, indoors, upper and lower levels but intimate. Elegant, uncluttered New England decor with nautical touches. Lighting is warm. White painted shiplap, brass, views of boat traffic in the Vineyard Haven harbor.
