Woman moved us while we were eating, so she could seat a 4top. Absolutely nothing wrong with this, if she had been tactful and asked us first. They should have sent out a dessert or comp'd our frites. It's just the kind, respectful thing to do.
Great ambiance & atmosphere, authentic cuisine, fantastic service, and definitely will come back. We tried the calamari, brussels sprouts, ratatouille, duck confit, and fettucine. Everything was absolutely delicious!
Exceptional staff (wait and hostess)-very friendly. Food always excellent.
The food was good but would not give it more then three out of five stars.
I think the French Fries are not crispy ( for the second time already ) and I had also the burger there which ( also for the second time ) was not really my best burger especially for the $ 15.00 where at Roam Burger or Super Duper they are even better and much cheaper.
Atmosphere is great and location also.
The food is ok, but not spectacular. I had the hangar steak medium rare, it was very rare. The french fries were soggy and that is all that comes with it, for 28$, a bit sad. The coq au vin that my wife had was very nice. The 12$ generous happy hour wine flights are definitely a nice touch!
Dined with a friend Friday, April 6 at 6:30 p.m. Since it was still happy hour ordered the sparkling wine flight (Le Petillant) for $12 and three $1 oysters. I thought they were really great deals and would return for these. My friend and I then shared the cheese/charcuterie plan (4 items for $22). We thought the Brillat Savarin was particularly tasty. It was literally like butter. We also ordered the frisee aux lardons and ratatouille. I really liked how they prepared the ratatouille, chunky pieces of vegetable, hearty, full of flavor. I ordered the Saint-Emilion, Grand Cru, Cadrans de Lassegue, which I thought was a nice accompaniment to the meal. The only negative comment I could make was that the waitress forgot my glass of wine. I had to ask for it again and I didn't get it until almost the end of the meal. But, it wasn't a huge deal. Overall, I thought it was an enjoyable meal. The happy hour deals were a great value. And the service, notwithstanding the minor oversight, was pretty good. There were no haughty French waiters here. Would recommend and would return for another try.
It was a nice quaint neighborhood restaurant. We had table by the window - the warm night drew neighbors that were out and about so one can people watch. Food was decent - pomp frites with the 3 tasting sauces was neat to try as was the French Onion soup. The coq au vin and the duck confit were a bit dry yet tasty.
Did not honor our reservation-very unprofessional hostess: nasty! Then mgr got us a table finally-and the food was great then he yelled at us for not tipping on the tax and mandate!!!
Frenchbstaff with attitude trying to pass off poor food as French. The champagne and oysters were great, but anything that involved the kitchen’s touching the food, a disaster. We ate one escargot, passed on the rest...Salade frisée- served in a cereal bowl with chewy bacon. Three bites and we were done. Glad we had not ordered main courses. Paid the bill and left...the fact that we didn’t eat our prepared food was lost on the staff. Just cleared the full plates and didn’t say anything. Tres mal.
Great service, delicious food and lively atmosphere. A bit loud if you are looking for romantic or cozy experience.
Very nice location. Excellent service. Really great french food. A must. Well established culinary delight.
Excellent quality food and wines. Very French. Service is fast and friendly.
We enjoy the friendly casual feeling of this place. The food is always tasty, savory and thoughtfully composed.
Truly enjoy going to this restaurant but best enjoyed witha small party. Way too loud for the money with friends. It is not average. One table in the back is quiet, the front of the house is just not enjoyable.
Fine restaurant and pleasant ambiance. Friendly staff.
What a gem! Came here on a Friday night, it wasn't too busy at 6:30 but it quickly filled up within an hour. The food was amazing! Highly recommend the oysters, chicken liver patte, steamed muscles and the hanger steak! The service was also nice and fast, I really loved Garcon and can't wait to go back.
The food and ambiance was great !
Took my friend for a bday dinner. The food was great! Only complaint- where was the truffle in the hanger steak and frites? Couldn’t smell it. Maybe it was in the little pat of butter? Uncertain. We searched for it.
Otherwise- Food was great. We loved the escargot
As usual the food was great and the service very attentive. We always enjoy dining here when we are in San Francisco.
One of the servers was very friendly. The sweetbreads were amazing. Other food was below expectations. Totally fine, but would not go back unless it was to have some wine and sweetbreads.
Always a good experience! Super friendly staff.
Excellent food and venue. Service was a bit slow.
My girlfriend and dinned at Garcon and we had a wonderful experience. The team were flexible and willing to work with us sharing meals. They were pleasant, food was delicious and price was reasonable. Thank you
Excellent food and exceptional service.
It's a friendly and inviting place but somehow the food was a little lackluster. The duck/mushroom `samosas' were a bit greasy; mussels had a nice sauce but the seafood itself wasn't top quality or perhaps were a bit overcooked.
Big disappointment that they no longer serve spirits. And the onion soup, which I had remembered fondly, was mediocre.
Just a nice neighborhood restaurant we like to frequent. Nice wait staff and good food & wine at a reasonable price
Charming place with great food. Consistently high quality with great service. Love the steak frites!!
The special menu for New Year's eve was way overpriced and the quality of the food inconsistent. Avoid the special occasion, just go for a regular dinner. Food should be good and priced at market rate.
No thank you
New Year’s Eve
We had a great time and the food was Wonderful! 2nd time we dined there
I have been to this restaurant a couple of years ago and it was fantastic. Sadly this has all changed. The Escargot was tasteless, barely detecting garlic and salt. Dinner overall was ok but not memorable. Service was just ok and while advertised as a full bar I was told that they are only now beer/wine. This was an issue for a few guests. This was a small wedding celebration and that wasn't even acknowledged.
Excellent! Thanks to all the staff! Great evening with my date! Merci Jérôme!
Not quite what it used to be
We are locals and this is our go to bistro. Give it a try. Does not disappoint.
Great location and excellent bsitro menu close to the Marsh. Been there several times and always enjoyed the food. Wine flight is recommended choices
Authentic, delicious French bistro food...excellent service...in a nutshell, perfect! Loved the profiterols
We were there on Thanksgiving and the had a fixed price, 3-course meal. The food was well presented and delicious. Garçon is a restaurant that we save for special occasions. The menu is always good and the staff friendly. We absolutely recommend Garçon.
Food here was fantastic across the board. We happened to be there on a particularly busy evening so the service was embarrassingly bad for the first half of the meal (took almost half another between being seated and someone taking our order). However, this lapse was acknowledged, and our waitress more than made up for it! Would highly recommend for a date or other special occasion
