Garces Trading Company Ratings and Reviews
French bistro feel with inventive twist to menu. Duck fat fries were a treat. The small plates to start with a cheese mix to plate was a nice start to our meal. We couldn't decide if the short rib lasagna was our favorite or the scallops. Everyone was jumping in on the lemon tart, unassuming in description but tangy and refreshing with the berry compote. Making the entire experience a delight was our perky server who snuck in to remove plates, refill glasses and make suggestions without disturbing our group conversation. Next time, the pappardelle with lamb ragu.
Always excited for a meal at a Garces restaurant. I am a big fan of Tinto and the Trading Company and we really enjoy trying the tasting menus. We were there on Friday and it did not disappoint. Had the $40 tasting menu. Everything was very good, if just missing that extra bit of magic that a meal with Chef Garces can provide. We will be back.
I've been several times to Garces Trading Company and it never disappoints. This time, I went for the short rib lasagna and it was awesome. The service was very, very good too. People accompanying me for dinner also made several remarks on how good their food was.
The ambiance at GTC is charming and the food delicious. The inside is almost like a cozy cafe meets French country charm. The food is unique with most dishes being French-inspired, but with twists from other cultures. The value was spot-on for each of the 7 members of our business party. Highly recommend to others.
While the food tasted decent, the portion sizes were shameful for the prices charged, particularly the mixed charcuterie starter. Tiny, very thin slivers of two cheeses and one meat, a dab of mustard, a dab of jam, about a tablespoon of honey. Over $30. Insulting. The trout entree was a ridiculously small piece of fish and a forkful of vegetable. Three scallops on the scallop entree? Really? The two pasta dishes approached acceptable size and the bread was good. Otherwise, very poor value for the cost. Will not be returning.
We were really disappointed that a restaurant of your caliber would not split checks. It becomes a burden for your guests to have to take the time and effort to figure it out. We won't come back and will be sure to tell anyone who plans on dining there about that issue.
Went with my friend for restaurant week and everything we had was delicious. Our servers were fantastic and I really loved the olive oil / balsamic vinegar bar for the pre-meal bread basket. Would definitely recommend to others and would also definitely go back to check out their regular menu!
Garces Trading Company is a favorite of me and my wife, and we love taking friends there. We love the tasting menus that they offer - it's always a culinary voyage to several far-flung ports of call. The chef clearly has a mastery of a wide variety of food types. This would be a great place to take a date or to go as a couple on a special occasion. We'll be back!
The staff has impeccable training. Our server was pleasant, well spoken, through, thoughtful, knowledgeable and very polite. He made sure our experience was a good one. The person bringing the food to the table did so as if he had prepared it himself and it was his masterpiece. This place surely has it right!
Three of us went to lunch Sunday to celebrate my birthday. Our reservation was for 2:30 and brunch was still being served - which I loved that it was available so late! There is a $25 menu that is well worth the price - coffee/tea, mimosa, pastry basket, appetizer, and entree. The mozzarella appetizer and duck salad entree were big hits. Service was great as well. Restaurant was pretty empty (we went at a fairly awkward time), but servers were neither obtrusive nor negligent as can sometimes happen during off hours. We had been to Garces for dinner before and were not impressed with portion sizes for larger groups, but we will definitely be back for brunch again!
We came as a group to celebrate a birthday. They were very nice with making the large reservation and being super accommodating. Then, once we arrived and were seated,There was a large leak that dropped down of the guests back, soaking her. We had to suggest moving tables. They did bring us a few comped plates for the leak trouble. But Then they just forgot we were in the restaurant! No one came by to take additional drink orders. I had to walk over several times to ask, remind, check on things .they still would forget! Beyond slow with cleaning up the table between courses. Messed up orders. Plus the restaurant wasn't even busy!
The company was good. The good was good. The service was appalling.
The restaurant makes their own balsamic vinegars and offers a selection of these along with olive oils for tasting. The fresh mozzerella and black lentil fritters were outstanding. Some of the menu choices seemed a bit overpriced for the portion size. Great dessert offerings and relaxing ambience!
We were in town recording some music and our recording engineer highly recommended Garces . We were blown away by the boar meatballs, home made mozzarella and that Lasagna was the best I;ve ever tasted. The salmon was delicious too with a very interesting twist using olives and quail eggs. YUM! If you are into trying new combos of flavors and enjoy flavored olive oils and varying balsamic vinegars for dipping your bread, this spot is a must try. The price really wasn't unreasonable for the amount and quality of food. Be prepared to spend more than your basic dinner, entrees ranging from 16-28. Love love loved it! Grab a slice of mile high apple pie from the ice cream store next door and you'll have a very happy tummy!
My favorite Garces restaurant!
We went on "all you can eat" steak or mussels night. This is the first time we've gotten the "all you can eat". We got the mussels and they are delicious, but the one caveat I will give is that if you are not each eating at least two bowls of mussels, then just order it off the regular menu. We each had a bowl, then shared another bowl, at which time we were full (it includes delicious duck fat fries as well). When we got the bill , we realized that we paid more than we would have had we ordered individual bowls.
Our waiter, Rob, was great. Very sweet and funny, and kept the food coming.
